I'd want a cool seat during a hot race, but not due to a bouncy castle car.

Stroll retires.

Firstly, Perez is/was behind Leclerc in points, and not Verstappen. Secondly, that gap is/was only that small because Verstappen has an extra DNF and had a bad weekend in Monaco (the worst track to have a bad weekend at, and also by far his worst track).

Just because Perez is not as far away from Verstappen on points as you would expect, doesn't mean he's a genuine contender for the championship.

No it wasn't. A Mercedes won a GP starting from P20. Come on now.

I don't get this part of your argument at all? Neither Red Bull nor Mercedes (or any other team) had porpoising issues last year.

Leclerc would've won at least four more races this year if Ferrari didn't give him bad strategies and worse engines. It's not just the qualifying, but his qualifying results definitely say a lot.
I'm really confused as to why you're trying to justify team orders with a 15 point gap?

The Red Bull was clearly the best car for the majority of 2021. They dominated pre season, had better race pace and were kinder on their tyres. The rule changes with the floor affected the balance of the Mercedes massively. They struggled to get correct setups.

Winning from 20th with a 'brand new engine' and a really angry Hamilton. He drove one of the greatest drives of his career. And at that race, Mercedes had a slighty faster car, and Verstappen was driving very erratically and didn't maximise his cars performance.

Leclerc could have won more as could have Verstappen. Red Bull are much kinder on the tyres and have the least porpoising of all cars. They're mighty on the straights and have better race pace than the Ferrari's.

Either way, my original point still stands. There is no reason to apply team orders at Red Bull when both drivers are as close as they are. It's an insult to Perez and make for poor viewing.

Here's why:
As mentioned earlier:
Merc has done it early in the season in the past
There are multiple teams doing it this race alone
The order was only to not fight back, Max passed on pace
The order was better for Perez as well, since he wouldn't keep Max behind anyway, and he would lose time to Leclerc.

Here's why:
Mercedes doing it in the past has no bearing on this championship. Midfield teams are fighting for every single scrap and aren't gunning for the title. Team orders are understandable there.

Anyway Russell is an incredible driver congrats to him for 3rd.

Close? You can call it close when Perez beats Verstappen by over 21 seconds on the exact same strategy. It's quite one sided right now.

But then again you also think that a driver winning a race from last because his car was literally unbeatable is close racing.

Well done to Max. I thought Perez was going to walk away with the win.

Super bad day for Ferrari.

Super good day for Mercedes.

Solid result for Gasly.

Not sure what McLaren was thinking, keeping Ricciardo behind Norris for so long, and then doing it again later, when the positions were swapped. Maybe cost them some extra points. Speaking of points... Daniel gooooooooooooooo!

Sucks for KMag and Zhou... they had good pace.

edit: Wow, Lewis struggling to exit his car. 😦

Edit.

Please do not swear!

Maybe Lewis really is injured? Prior to the race, Toto was strongly suggesting the FIA fix the proposing/injury issue by a safety ruling, something like a higher minimum ride height for all teams.

Honestly I don't see how Ferrari takes the fight to RB this year. Between their car that is incredibly unreliable and their god awful strategy every week, RB has a pretty clear view of the championship.

The FIA should strongly suggest to Toto to stop injuring his drivers for mediocre results, and to stop getting the FIA to change the regulations so that the consequences of Mercedes's poor design choices get eliminated.

Mercedes shouldn't send him out in such a low car. Hamilton really suffered today but it seems to be so preventable if it is a ride height issue. If the trade off is performance, then that's part of the game. I'm amazed he did as well as he did considering.

And you think teams fighting for the championship aren’t scrapping for every single point they can grab?

I wasn't aware that it's the FIA's fault Mercedes cannot build their car within specifications to NOT injure their own driver.
