It's a weird situation where Lando doesn't really seem to believe he can do it. Meanwhile Max really does fear him and has been recklessly defending against him
 
With the Mercs fighting like this you'd have expected Max to catch them. He hasn't, so the tyres must be falling apart. This is an issue for a 2-stop because the Haas' and Piastri are too close for the second stop to be free.

I thought something was wrong when I tuned into qualifying yesterday. The feed was almost black and white at points.
