Just a thought.
Sony (or more specifically, SCEE) is the only company allowed to use the F1 license to make games. So why can't they use that license to let PD put real F1 cars in GT5 (or at least let them record the sound)?

Because then what would be the point in anyone buying an F1 game. Sony will not let PD put proper F1 cars from their license in the game because if they did they would lose sales of any proper F1 games they release.

Well, its not as if PD would include a bunch of F1 tracks. And they could use one of the real F1 cars to record sound and physics data for their FGT. But you're right.

It's more likely they'll include the F1 tracks than the cars, there are already some of the official trakcs in there.

Yep, the tracks are more likely to apprear, but definitely not all of them.

PD does it's own thing when it comes to F1 cars, they resemble the actual cars, with a few additions, so they don't look exactly like current F1 bodies. Kaz said that the F1's were sort of like experiements, they were toying with the physics of those cars. While i have never driven an F1 some of the physics in GT for them is a bit off, F1's turn better under acceleration, while it is in there it's not very pronounced(TOCA 2 has this feeling, in the champ cars). I like how PD is experimenting and not using any data from the Sony team who does the F1 games.

Personally I don't like the F1's, as they don't feel like cars to me. They lack noticeable weight shift, they have centers of gravity that all other cars can only dream of and boast handling that is aircraft like. In fact the only thing that i can associate with a real car on an F1 is the fact that F1's still have tires, other than that they look like planes.

It would be neat if they could at least include some historic F1 cars (i.e. Mercedes W196, Cooper T51, Lotus 49, Honda RA300, Tyrell 001, Tyrell P34, etc.).

Another one of these threads. I've been on GTPlanet for... damn! Almost going on two years on GTP... and it seems like I've seen everything. Well, time to Sound Off!

First off, the 1960s F1 cars, I wouldn't mind those beauties like from the "Grand Prix Legends" game. If PD was brave, they'd put in that six-wheeled Tyrell. Now when it comes to F1 cars, do you only want them just to race really fast cars, do you want them to have the world's best race cars at your DualShock, or is it just to have your own F1 season complete with your own team and such? To me, there's too many licensing issue deals. I never liked the idea of actual, existing championships in a Gran Turismo game. The reason why is because the game was never about specialized racing series. This is even if PD included cars and tracks from the Australian V8 Supercar series (I'd LOVE to see them in. Australia needs better representation in the Gran Turismo universe. And oh yes, Bathurst would be highly recommendd). Still though, if I want to race in existing series with actual cars raced with, I'd play a ToCA game.

I haven't been an F1 fan in recent times, but they are dream race cars to many people. Name me one kid who likes cars and racing- that doesn't like to race something as fast as an F1 car. Most NASCAR-type people will make the typical argument about F1 racing- no passing. I'd race these for the purpose of tough racing, not to win races in a blowout. But to have the actual FIA-sanctioned series with the cars (including Ferrari) and the tracks, let me give you a percentage of that happening. That percentage? < 10%. Dig that?

John is right in what he says; F1 or any other type of sanctioned motorsport will not be in the game. Although I belive PD could add just the cars, plain and simple, just like they´ve done so far. Vette C5R, Team Oreca Viper or BMW M3 GTR springs to mind as actual racecars from some series, as are the JGTC cars, but all are raced under PD´s own rules. And isn´t the 2000 Ford Falcon XR8 an Aussiecar from the V8 supercar series? And all the Group C and LMP cars are actual LeMans racers, so I do not see why PD couldn´t include a Formula 1 car or even a NASCAR ride.

The JGTC championship it THE only real championship ever to appear in GT, and it'll probably reamin so. PD have the license to use that series.

They do? I didn´t know that. Does PD´s pointsystem come from JGTC then? I know that system was used in F1 among others a while back, but today every series in the world seem to have their own point system. Has Super GT stuck to that (older) system?
