Well it seems Horner is going to instigate at least a casual look into it, if not a formal investigation.

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner says he wants stewards to check that Nico Rosberg lifted for double-waved yellow flags on his pole position lap.

Why does Horner get involved into this? What difference does it even make for Red Bull if it's Rosberg - Hamilton or Hamilton - Rosberg?

AFAIK the penalty would be a grid drop of either 3/5/10 places so that's obviously his motivation. I don't really blame him though, you're not doing your job as team boss if you don't even ask. If they investigate and he's cleared, nothing lost.

Wouldn't they just cancel his pole time? Can't remember ever seeing someone get a grid penalty for something like that.

I think that was the first qualifying I watched since 2 years or so, it was certainly fun to watch, nice lap from Nico at the end.

Yeah, I know, unless it's raining, super unlikely, but I hope Verstappen wins tomorrow, I'm tired of seeing the Mercedes (well, Lewis) win nearly effortlessly all the time. :P

As for Horner wanting the stewards to investigate the lap, it's almost like he's doing his job, nothing to see or criticize here imo.

For me, seeing Alonso in 1st during Q2 was probably the best part of this weekend. I have a feeling the race might still be a let down for the Mclaren boys, but it still gave me immense joy! Hoping the race is a bit of a crazy one!

Also I'm impressed at Mercedes ability to stay consistent even in really inconsistent conditions.

He barely slowed down for double yellows looking at onboard. No wonder he did a purple middle sector.

If that is being prepared to slow down to a stop then sets a dangerous precedent as I can see others doing the same next time and that might not end so well. Even if it was just a single yellow flag, he seemed super quick through there. Might be quicker than last years pole lap through that part of track.

Well you never know, this is certainly what you'd consider a bogey track for Mercedes. The Red Bull long pace wasn't great on Friday but as always with F1 it's another day, another time, another track. Who knows.

I think that it's more the attitude of "if you can't beat them, throw the rule book at them" that bothers people. He used to do it a lot - or was at least perceived to do it a lot - when Red Bull were winning everything.

I think RBR easily have the pace to match mercedes, this was a closer quali than people may think. DR could have easily had a pole lap I think if he didn't mess up that last corner. If him and Lewis didn't lose out to the Alonso spin it would have been an even tighter fight for pole as well. Max didn't get to put in a last lap due to traffic navigating so who knows how well he could have done in the end.

Yep, exactly, it seems race pace is quite different to what it looks in qualifying / pre race this season, like the Redbulls and sometimes the Ferrari get better and the Mercedes slightly worse or stay the same, might be that Mercedes goes more for a qualifying setup and the other teams for a race setup?

I don't know, but yeah, especially Redbull seemed to be a lot faster than expected in the last couple of races.

The engine upgrades have them in line with Ferrari, couple that with great aero and they've nearly taken their spot.

Yeah, I can understand that, but I like his attitude about it and I really think it's his job as a team leader to do these things, like, I'm pretty sure he knows it has little chances of being successful, but why not try...

I also really liked how he told Lauda straight after the last GP regarding the radio messages "It's against the rules!" and Lauda was all "No, no, we were totally in the right doing this, we looked in the books!" He probably already knew they screwed up though...

Like, again, I understand, but I enjoy these little games besides the racing track, as long it's not too often or unjustified bickering. Can't avoid it anyways with all those rules in place nowadays.

Similarity between Gran Turismo Players and F1 drivers:-
Gran turismo players exploiit the physics meanwhile F1 drivers exploit the rules

I too find it crazy that he hasn't been penalised - after the Bianchi incident the subject of slowing under yellows has, rightly, been under the microscope. Rosberg didn't seem to slow at all and certainly didn't seem prepared to stop.
