I am sorry for all the families that was in this incident..though I wonder if it is ironic that he was an psychiatrist. But WoW!

Excellent, this is going to create unnecessary bigotry towards Middle Easterners and Muslims now since Maj. Hasan was of Jordanian decent and has been described as a pious Muslim. I've already seen on my Facebook people posting some rather obscene comments about Middle Easterners, as well as Muslims, over this. Fact of the matter is, the Hasan was born in Virginia which makes him American as the rest of us as far as I'm concerned.

This is truly a sad thing though, a bit too much like Full Metal Jacket hitting reality.

It is very sad, although you would think someone on a military base would have a gun(other than the guy that shot a bunch of people).

It's been all over the news tonight, that 3 men may be involved, 1 supposedly a police officer, & 1 of the 2 confirmed men on the loose.

As we did tonight at our meet, we do hope you guys keep these soldiers & family members in your thoughts.

So much for protecting yourself with guns, huh?

13 dead, 30 injured now. The circumstances seem weird, did he work alone?

Reports suggest that it was him alone that was involved in the incident.

Seems crazy that someone can get that many shots off before military personnel can bring him down.

So there's a possibility there are families who have spent months worrying if their son / brother / father / husband is going to come home safe, they arrive back in the US unscathed and then get killed by an american gunman. Nice.👎

Apparently Major Hasan did this because he had been harassed about being a Muslim and was unhappy about his current upcoming deployment to Iraq.

I'm not sure what to think about this. The Columbine shootings showed that if you harass the wrong people for long enough something is going to happen. And Iraq is a very unfavourable war, I can see why a solider wouldn't want to be deployed there. I mean you are sworn to fight America's enemies and in Iraq the enemy doesn't seem that defined. Granted none of this excuses Maj. Hasan for what he did, he still committed an awful tragedy but at least there is some understand to why he might have done it.

Also because of this, hopefully the military will look closer into the mental stability of it's soldiers.

I can understand why he wasn't happy about the situation, and i'd understand his motives if he'd decided to shoot himself in private or even in public as a statement. But to shoot innocent soldiers too just doesn't make sense. It can only lead to more hatred towards Muslims in general.

Uh oh, here we go again.

As Karen De Coster wrote, "Why does no one seem interested in the mindset of an Army psychiatrist who was about to be sent to Iraq to fight an unwinnable war?"

I agree with that, that's why I said it doesn't excuse him from what he did. It's just understand his motives a bit more now, however "off" they may be.

. . . you would think someone on a military base would have a gun. . . .

Nobody walks around the base fully armed. Not even sidearms. The only armed personnel are the gate guards and the MPs (police.) Pretty much just like any American corporate facility or campus.

He was a psychologist also right? I mean some of those war stories must've really got him scared of going to Iraq. The harassment on top of that made him snap.

The irony is that the shooting happened near the soldier preparation/readiness area.

But still very tragic. Now Muslims like me have to take 10 steps back because of this.

God dammit.

They did keyed "Allah" on his car and he reported it as a hate crime.

He should've constantly reported the harassment to his superiors, and to the superiors' superiors if possible.

It could've been easily stopped.

You can thank the liberal anti-gun morons for that. Specifically, Clinton. He took the sidearms away from the military personnel, according some people I know who have family who work at Ft. Hood.

Yep, that douche-bag took sidearms away from MILITARY personnel. Shows you the level of stupidity of liberals.

Me personally, I think Clinton was a pimp overall.
You must really think Obama's a pimp - what with giving a 🤬 "shout out" to a Medal Of Honor recipient yesterday in what was the worst speach I've ever heard. I guess he was too far away for a "fist bump."

FBHO.

^Nah I gotta see Obama's first term all the way through to judge if he is a pimp or not.

But I do Obama does give me a shout out though.

Imagine Obama was at a press conference with other world leaders, and he starts by saying "I'd like to give a shout out to my boy sumbrownkid."

I'd go nuts.

The first one, no, definitely not. The second two, yes, definitely.

Sorry what? he took firearms away from people who are under incredible stress and have been taught the most efficient way to kill people? jerk.
