You know, Jeremy may over exaggerate things almost all of the time, but he's right about one thing: the McLaren F1 is so useless. Every corner is just light to mild slide, it can't brake worth a damn, and top all of that off by an absolutely idiotic AI who brake checks you every goddamn corner and it's nothing but frustration.

The F1 I can put up with, the AI makes it exponentially worse as I have to anticipate when they're going to be dumb and brake earlier than them, effectively slowing me down. Now I finally understand the hand gestures F1 drivers are so adamant about when someone is slowing them up.

Strange, the F1 is one of my favourite drives... but that's because it's the pre-tuned prize car, probably :P

Kinect head-tracking should track hand gestures as well.

Imagine the stress relief of seeing your in game driver extend his arm and slowly lift his middle finger.

At Lv. 31? If so, then I'm obviously pushing it too hard and need to dial back on the throttle. :grumpy:

The F1 is a handful, I'll give you that. For a car that is faster than most things and better off the line than most things, it sure had a tough time pulling away from anything on the catalunya straight.

My trouble is with Suzuka at the moment. I'm trying desperately to stick to the F1 line but can't because the AI finds it suitable to brake mid-apex and pulse brake until they've gotten enough clean air to accelerate. Rinse and repeat.

And that's just through the Esses.

It recognizes my hand gestures. Every time I am racing and need to itch my face/nose/cheek or whatever, the damn thing pops up the black bar on the bottom of the screen saying "RE-KINECT" until I put my hand back on the wheel.

RE-KINECT THIS! :D

Some issues I'm having with Kinect:

Head Tracking: My head wobbles all over the place during a race and it makes me dizzy, even though I'm sitting still.

AutoVista: Horrible movement tracking, I always go right for no apparent reason, when I'm in the middle of the "Preferred play area"

Hand Steering: I guess It's okay, but if you make any sudden movements, expect a crash.

Menus: Hand tracking is bad in the menus, when It tells you to scroll your hand to select a car, you probably go by 15 different cars when your trying to select one.

Have you tried a fully tuned top speed run in that with no aero?

Holy crap is that thing unstable!

I lose control somewhere around the second chicane on the old mulsanne circuit.

If the stupid, can't-see-anything-but-the-goddamn-racing-line AI rams me, PIT's me, or brake checks one more time I'm going to lose it.

I can't stand having scratches on my cars every time I win a race because the AI has to be daring and make stupid moves. This is why games like Burnout exist: if you hate the AI, you simply pole vault them into a bus, some random building, or you turn them upside down. In the air.

If the Hummer was fast enough...I swear to every bit of my in-game racing ability I would just ram, ram, ram, and ram some more.

I read through Wikipedia and according to there, the Tesla Roadster was very important to the game's development, as they used it to record tire sounds. Because of this, I expect either the 2011 Roadster or the 2012/2013 Model S to appear in the game in the future. :P

So by the sounds of it I'm the only one who thinks the McLaren F1 (stock) handles nicely? T10 also have the engine sound perfect so I can enjoy my virtual version of the best engine ever made. :D

It's fine if you don't have a lead foot, or in my current situation, a lead finger. :P

Reason I'm tuning the crap out of it now.

I think the brakes are terrible though.

The brakes aren't very good, true. The car also gets pretty unstable under braking and is thoroughly punishing if you're going into a corner too fast, even if it's just a wee bit too much speed you're trying to carry through. Plus, it gets pretty unstable when you're approaching high speeds, especially on a track that isn't perfectly smooth.

It's got pretty sharp handling, overall, but all these little issues make it a terrifying car to drive fast, in my opinion.

Been away in London for the last six days - just about to get back into this amazing game. It's been too long lol.

Guys help me here. I'm doing Monthly Race, Nurb GP, with a Gumpert Apollo. Everytime I go into a lap, it show's this icon it's not valid. The second I go over the finish line it shows.. I'm not slipstreaming towards the finish line or what so ever. I'm confused!!!

Actually, it is there all the time.. It won't go away the second I go over the finish line..

Edit: Strange, I booted the system and it's fixed. Maybe a bug?

Edit2: These cars you get while leveling up, are they already tuned a bit? Becaus the S5 I bought is stock around 500, and the one I got gifted is 600..

I really don't have much of a problem outside of the first corner, and that's a problem in every professional racing series on earth. I usually just stay safe through that corner and then go to work. Only having 3 laps in World Tour definitely makes this frustrating.

Exactly... In the League of Legends, most races last for roughly ten minutes. That's enough to keep it easy through turn one and to slowly work your way up afterwards, but prior to that... Ugh, it gets igly quite often

The game is reading that you hit something, and if it stays for multiple laps, it means you hit something in the last sector and it ruins your next lap too.
They did this to stop people hitting each other accross the line of the lap to make their next lap faster.

Forza 3 invalidated laps if you drafted. Or you were off line. I remember a couple tracks it was nearly impossible to get a validated lap time 'cause it was just so picky about where you had to be on the track.

Drafting gives you an advantage so I can see why they would invalidate the lap time. There were certain tracks that had areas which would invalidate your time either because T10 saw it as unfair advantage or it was a bug not fixed to resolve this.

FM4 still invalidates your time if you get drafted because it does give you an advantage as well.
I remember someone on the other board explaining how one of the AI cars drafting yours can give you an advantage, but still don't understand how it affects your lap time.

Could someone explain it to me again please? Time trial mode's definitely the way to go if you want to avoid this happening though.
