Have to hand it to turn 10, FM3 has improved highly upon its predecessor. The tracks look stunning.

The lighting and reflections are still inferior to GT though, nonetheless I am sure both FM3 and GT5 are going to be amazing in their own unique ways. (I just hope they improve the shadows in final build of GT5).

I say more pictures of Ferraris!

People nowadays are too worried about features and numbers. It's not how many things you have in a game that makes it good. New Sonic games aren't better than the old ones just because they have more characters available. If Forza gets more Ferraris, then good for them. That won't make GT5 a worse experience.

But it would/does affect the experience.

What is the point of this thread? Its just going to start a flame war, who cares if Forza has 29 Ferrari's that can be damaged, its a Gran Turismo forum, not a Forza one.

Like I said I thought it was worth posting as its just taking a look at game in direct competition with GT5. Maybe it was in the wrong section I will grant you that.

But at the moment until TGS were not exactly falling over ourselves with things to talk about.

Yeah, you'd have to travel pretty fan into "crazy psycho fanboy land" to look at hose models and not be impressed.

I'm not saying GT 5 doesn't have better graphics, because it DOES.

I'm saying those graphics are very impressive and extremely comparable to GT 5.

The fact that ALL those Ferraris can be customized to infinity AND all have damage modeling I also find quite impressive. Any sane person would.

Funny how you go around 'quoting' people taking critical comments about GT to heart, the first one her about forza and your basically melting down.

Hillarious stuff

Simple SIM just pops up Forza all the time ... obvious is obvious

Forza3 ingame lightning is just dull, and as the topic goes I would like any Ferrari we will get!

I've said it for a while now, wasn't untill now he'd been as hypocritical but now, he cant really say anything.

Forza sections down abit Simple

I haven't said anything hypocritical. Only in a Gran Turismo forum would me saying something positive about Forza in a Forza thread make me the hypocrite

This thread get's posted and immediately people start talking bad about it. But you won't quote them or call them hypocrites. No, that would be too level headed of you.

Are the cars floating? They seem to be flying over the track and they look a bit like toys. But thats just me, they still look good.

I dont think GT5 will have 30 Ferraris if they feature about 20 Iam completely satisfied.

Daytona Spider
308 GTB
F40
F50
FXX
430
430 Challenge
360
288 GTO
250 GTO
250 Testa Rossa
458 Italia

Its only 12, but everything else would be a bonus.

And right away you couldn't wait to leap to it's defence, despite many occasions of you commenting on people defending GT, against usually yourself or deve whom both obviously prefer Forza and manage to include it in nearly every post you or he makes

I just have no problem giving credit where credit is due.

I think those Forza models look amazing.

Yes, GT 5 DOES look better but if you're going to talk about "what's impressive in a racing game" I would say it's more impressive that ALL those Forza models have damage modeling and look 95% as good as the ones in GT 5.

I was not expecting Forza 3 to look THAT good, especially after the lackluster graphics of Forza 2.
Let me give you some advice.

Before Forza 2 was released I was amazed at some of the published screenshots and yet come release the cars didn't look nowhere near as impressive as the screenshots.

Don't be fooled by what you see because the reality can be quiet different!!

When have you ever seen a new GT thread posted and saw me immediately start bashing it? Is t it NEVER? The only aspect I've ever been critical of is it's lackluster damage modeling.

But people constantly bring up Forza ONLY to bash it. But do you say anything to them? No, you wait for me to comment about Forza after it was brought up by someone else and then call ME the hypocrite. You must be joking.

You have to learn that MOST people here that are fans of Gran Turismo are also fans of racing games in general and not JUST Gran Turismo. You "OMG Gran Turismo is the only game in the world" fanboys are in the minority. The sooner you learn that the better off you'll be.

The only reason Forza 3 has this many Ferrari's is because they're just bringing along what they already had from FM2. It already looks to be the same with the Porsches.

He prefers Forza? Really? Where does that stand?

The problem is the only game being bashed in this sub forum is Forza 3, even though it hasn't been released yet, along with GT5. So when people try to defend Forza (because it's the only game that is being bashed seriously), they look like fanboys, as Simple SIM and me.

If Simple includes Forza in every post he makes, it's because his post is the one following a post bashing Forza. Like you would include GT in every post you made if the post preceeding yours was bashing GT.

EDIT:

bighap, 👍

It's sad, but true. I have already said it before too. The car list is what matters, not the number. The number is only useful to say "Oh, well, we have over 1000 cars." I may have 100 Skylines out of a 800 car game, and you know what? That would suck. That is why I firmly stand that Forza 3 is much more likely to have more desirable cars than GT.

I have my heart with GT, and that is a fact. That's why I'm in gtplanet. But that doesn't mean I'm a blind guy who can defend other games bashed without reason, other than a "friendly comparison".

1: Do you really need more than 29 Ferraris? That's a lot of Farraris....

2: Those FM pics do seem to have contrast set too low and too bright or something... a little tinkering in PS makes them look much better so I wonder if they capture method is odd or what, but it seems like a big oversight from T10 to release them that way.

3: Simple Sim didn't start this thread, he just responded to it, and his response was in line with the subject thread.

4: Codenaml L has an obivious and legit point.

5: Kinetic, you seem to enjoy trolling so much you witch hunt out trolls just so you can troll them.

It's the little details that bothers me with forza modelling and lighting, yes sure the game's great but there are some mistakes in some details of the modelling and the lighting is just way too plastic looking. Everyone has their own opinion, it just depends how hardcore you are I guess :)

This show's you who cares about the soul and passion for car's.

f430 details.

Led brake like detail.

599 details.

F1 2007 details.

f40 details in motion with real time suspension travel.

I now see why Ferrari debuted the California with GT rendering, it look's stunning.

now just imagine how the GT5 enzo will look or never before seen ferraris.

Excellent videos torque.

These really show the level of detail that Turn 10 must aspire to. Personally I don't think Turn 10 will ever produce this kind of detail but whether this is down to hardware, development skills, development time im unsure. My guess is the development time is a key issue because FM3 has been in development for 2yrs which is obviously alot shorter than GT5.

Still im not knocking Turn 10 because their strengths is UGC, online features. However car, track modelling is certainly there weak point in comparison to GT. I would love to see what Turn 10 could produce for the PS3 if development time wasn't an issue. Still that would never happen.

.

As long as the number of manufacturers is high the number of individual cars is not as important and even GT4 features more manufacturers than Forza 3 does, so even GT4 has a wider variety of cars. GT5 will even have more manufactureres and more cars, so the variety is vastly improved.

Amazing videos, when GT5 gets photomode, as well movie sharing.. It will pown any other game..

Even with Prologue in live replay modes on the youtube videos, it looks 10 times more detail over FM3's Photo mode. We all know Photo Mode adds AA, Detail, Lighting.

Ultimately, this thread falls between two stools.

The first stool is that of a Forza News thread. Well... this has already been reported in the relevant forum here.

The second is that of a car wishlist. We have one of those already also.

And since the only place this discussion will go is FM3 vs GT5 yet again, I have to shut it down before it gets there - though I recognise that wasn't the intent in the first place.
