Right so I'm assuming the shot's from The One? It seems to be sitting somewhere in the middle; doesn't look detailed enough to be X1.. but then the car detail makes me think it ain't X360!
Note that this isn't the car he's driving but another drivatar's. LOD may be affected if it's right on the edge of view.

The second is an A2 quattro, the bodykit we have in game is for the Sport quattro.

Tokens are in the game now. If you want to disable them, go to Extras under Marketplace and press X. After doing this, they won't show up anywhere.

Oh how I fantasize about the days when Horizon sheds its semi-arcade roots...

If you drive within real-world limits, it doesn't feel arcade at all. Granted the races are pure arcade at times, but free roam can be as realistic as you make it. I get plenty of satisfaction from not going stupidly fast everywhere and taking corners at speeds I would in a real car.

To be blunt, I'm sure it's too late. Horizon appears to be a hit with those Forza Motorsport fans who were never sim-geeks. Online multiplayer in FH1 was always dominated by R1-class pileups, repetitive top speed runs on the Freeway Blast course, and neverending 1/4-mile drags in Online Free Roam. Any FH1 or FH2 YouTube LP I've peeked at is dripping with eau de dudebro. Horizon may be the new "Gears of Halo: Modern Battlefield" of racing games. It came close to the open world simulator I always wanted, but I'm not holding my breath for it to inch any closer.

If anything, Forza Horizon might allow Forza Motorsport to finally shed its semi-arcade roots. I'm aware that FM5's physics are improved, but in terms of other gameplay aspects, it's no Project CARS.

I can agree with some of this. But being on a popular gaming platform, it can't take itself too seriously when it comes to Sim. The Forza series as of late has evolved in many aspects, many which have creeped closer to realism than not but deep down inside it doesn't want to shake off the players that they do have.

I consider myself a semi-sim geek with a dedicated PC rig with a custom cockpit and Fanatec setup but I can appreciate when a game offers what FH2 offers, with a controller at that, I normally hate using a pad with racing.

Bought and played the Storm Island DLC, enjoying it so far, one championship away from the finale..

I raced the finale last night. Two laps around the island in my beloved Lancia Fulvia. I had a tight race with an AE86 but I brought home the win with about a half second to spare.

I've done the Storm Island finale a few days ago with my trusted Ford RS200. Like with the Horizon finale, I've set the Drivatar difficulty to the max. I won with several seconds to spare. The RS200 - as with the other Killer B's - is outright unbeatable in Storm Island. :P

Has anyone found a reliable method to mute people in online play on the XBOne?

From searching on the Internet it seems there are 2 solutions:
The first one is to switch to Party Chat when you're in an Online session. But embarrassingly I haven't found how to do that so far.

The second way seems to be to plug your headset into the controller, and use the buttons on the headset to turn the volume all the way down. However when I do that nothing happens, so either I'm doing something wrong again or my brand new, never used headset is broken.

Either way if anyone's found a solution that you can share it'd be great.

The metro sounds godly. And just like the real thing:

Consider me impressed.

I'm loving the island as well. The roads are so fun to drive and feel so much less basic and generic than some of roads on the main map. I would happily pay again for another expansion, they're clearly capable of doing it right.

24 cars, a whole map expansion, and multiple patches in less than 3 months. Makes you wonder what the hell PD spend their time doing.

You appear to be conflating realism with quality. FH2-360 is not a simulator and probably not as realistic as FH2-One, but it's top tier among arcade-style racing games. God forbid you ever play some bargain-bin racing game that's both unrealistic and terrible.

"top tier arcade-style racing games".. < that's precisely why I'll be skipping it. H1 on X360 is a polished and complete game, not rushed and half-arsed.

Furthermore, H1 had enough realism to still accomodate simmers. H2 doesn't. What a lame effort on Sumo's part. I'd rather play the arcade classic Outrun.

I'll agree with your distinction there.

I suppose you'd rather play the parallax-scrolling original as opposed to the 3D sequel, which was ported to consoles by...Sumo Digital.

As for your "rushed and half-arsed" comment, I won't exactly disagree. On the other hand, I don't think Forza games are terribly polished in the first place -- not surprising considering they've decided to pump out alternating sequels every year. FH1 had several of the same sort of glitches/bugs that FH2-360 has (some originated from FM4 or earlier), though I'll agree that they're more frequent/problematic in FH2-360. That "minefield" spot on the eastbound freeway near Nice is inexcusable.

H2 360 has different physics to h1?

2000th post :gtpflag:

The tire model is quite different, but the underlying physics seem mostly the same. I think FH2-360 actually improved upon oversteer control/recovery on a physics level, but there's so much grip that you need about twice as much horsepower to break the rear wheels free, and you don't get the sort of corner-entry oversteer you did in FH1 (which was closer to reality than FM4's, IMHO).

So, same physics engine, but different handling. It's still more realistic than your typical arcade-style racing game.

Yeap, unfortunately. Known fact, but not so readily available in reviews, as there aren't that many major sites where you'd find an x360 review. If you're still on the x360, you're better off with H1.

I'm glad you're enjoying the game. The physics in H2-360 are near-arcade. On the X1, they've pretty much retained the H1 physics, and made a few improvements here and there. Forcing people to buy the better X1 version is bad marketing IMO. It's almost as if they didn't even try on the 360. H1 does it for me. Great game. If I ever do pick up an X1, H2 is probably going to be among the first games I pick up.

New Christmas rewards available now. I'm Tier 7 and I got 10,000 credits each for FM5 & FH2. That's a smaller amount than they usually give away monthly, but free money's free money.

Misses bought me FH2 on the 360 for my xmas :)

First impressions:

Although people tend to take a **** on the 360 version, having not owned FH1 (only FM4), i gotta say the game is still beautiful. Especially the car models who seem to look a lot better than they did in FM4. Also the environments are pretty (although of course they can't compare to the Xbone version), and it's fun just cruising around like you would in real life. I'm gonna buy the shifter for my CSR so it's gonna be fun learning how to use the 6 speed one with this game.

Physics are more arcade than simcade, i put he steering on sim and TC off and it's still very easy but enjoyable.

Game structure is nice, mixing cruising with races and special challenges when you feel like it, and although you can't play around with the setups, i don't think it's necessary for a game that's arcadish like this.

Overall i'm very satisfied with it, although i wouldn't have bought it myself, but i'm glad i got it in the end 👍

^^ Hahaha....meeee! I took a dump on it once!!

Glad you're enjoying it. If I hadn't played H1, I might have enjoyed it too. H1 is truly impressive though, it does a few things better than FM4. Check it out ONLY when you get through H2.. cos you don't want your current experience to get tainted in any way. :D
