Hey guys! Got another request: Volcano Yellow McLaren Colour.

Thank you!

I have plans to do that color. I'll have it up later today.

EDIT: Later has come. Here is your color.

Volcano Yellow (McLaren)

Paint Material:
Metal Flake
- Base Color: 0.12R, 1.00R, 0.93L
- Flake Color: 0.13L, 0.99L, 0.91R

Not to stifle your creativity, but based on the reference pictures I'm looking at, that doesn't look like Volcano Yellow. I'm not sure what reference picture you looked at, but the color you made looks gold. I'll give it a shot myself to see what I can do, but in the meantime look at these reference pics:

Also, it's a gloss paint job. I'll post my version soon.

@MadaraxUchiha Thank you! The color looks great, great work!

Whatever. I hadn't added it to the spreadsheet yet, but I'm keeping my version in my spreadsheet.
So you’re adding the wrong version to the spreadsheet when it doesn’t even look anything like it? Dude, what is your problem? We’re supposed to be making accurate colors here, not act like petulant children just because it didn’t turn out right. I don’t know if you’re blind or just losing your grip on reality, but I suggest you stop acting petty and do the right thing. I seriously don’t understand why you’re acting like that, when everyone can clearly see the version that you did doesn’t look like the reference pictures at all. The color is way off and isn’t even the right kind of paint job. If you act like this I’m going to lose all respect for you, and I’ll also quit making colors and helping out with this chart because this is really getting ****ing pathetic, especially with the whole ‘oH yoU cAn’T dO tHaT cOlOr bEcAuSe I wAnTeD tO dO iT’ :irked: Getting all bent out of shape over CAR COLORS IN A VIDEO GAME WHILE PEOPLE ARE LITERALLY DYING around you is the sheer height of idiocy. You know, I really don’t have to help with this whatsoever, but I do because I’m a kind and caring person, but right now you’re just being really childish. Think on that.

@MadaraxUchiha, I am okay with you correcting my mistake and submitting a proper version of the color. I will even add it to the main spreadsheet. It looks great. However, I can do whatever I want with my spreadsheet. I am the only one who sees it. For this thread and the public spreadsheet, I will continue to present my best work, because people count on us to do that. If I do make a mistake, or have a lapse of judgement about a color, I don't mind if you or someone else fixes it. For my own uses, though, I don't see what is wrong with having inaccurate or imprecise color. And, let's be honest. Even if the color that I submitted does not look like the actual color, it is not a bad looking color. I did a couple #FORZATHON Live events yesterday with my Speedtail painted that color, and in the sun, it looked beautiful.

@JaCor653 And I respect that. Do what you like for your own personal use, but if you’re making something for the spreadsheet for everyone to use, come correct or don’t come at all. I give nothing other than my best 100% work because I want to give accurate representations of these colors. If I knew how to market myself better, I’d do it and get paid for it, but I don’t, so here I am doing it for free because I enjoy it and enjoy helping others. It’s time consuming and frustrating at times, but it’s something I’m really good at. I can be a perfectionist especially in my work so that’s why I strive for accuracy.

That's a fair point. I am in the process of adding your most recent colors to the spreadsheet, and one of your colors, namely, Orange Burst, is already there. I did that Chevrolet color a long time ago.

I was looking at the sheet while making colors yesterday and I didn’t even notice it :( Oh, well.

Mine appears to be more accurate than yours, but looking at my replica compared to different real-life images, I realize mine could probably use a slight redo.

The version I did is based on this reference image:

E5E7E0EF-B2D0-4856-B761-3654C202088B.jpeg

I didn’t use the brightest yellow color as the flake because it ended up being wrong. The lighter orange color is the flake, which is what I used and you still get the yellow when the sun hits it. Also, I have a 4K HD tv so colors look a lot different on my screen than how they end up on a screenshot.

*Side note* So I moved all of my car color reference pictures on my laptop to their own folder, and it turns out I have over 3,000 reference photos of tons of colors :boggled::lol:

Using the same image, but with a little adjustment away from the values I got, this is what I came up with:

Orange Burst (Chevrolet)

Paint Material:
Metal Flake
- Base Color: 0.07R, 0.87L, 0.64R
- Flake Color: 0.08R, 0.76R, 1.00L

It looks almost identical to the version I made, except your base is brighter than mine  See what I mean? Depending on the lighting and the type of reference image, the color can end up looking completely different. Some photos are oversaturated as well so that really doesn’t help either.

Do you think my new version is better than your version or my old version?

I honestly can’t tell the difference between mine and your new one because they look so alike :( It’s really down to the most minute detail here.

How did you take that photo? It’s winter now but your picture doesn’t even look like winter  Is it possible to change the season for editing car colors or is there something I’m missing here

I never left the house. I was in the house with sunny lighting at the end of Fall (Autumn), and since I've stayed there, that's still the lighting that I have.

EDIT: If it's okay with you, I think I'll add my new version to the spreadsheet. It combines the lowered saturation of your version with the slight yellowness of my old version.

You could also create a race from one of the nearby races, have it go through the castle, and past that point where the truck is, and set it for whatever season, and time of day you believe provides the best lighting, and then take the pictures from the same spot as the truck. And if the car gets dirty, just reset the cosmetic damage, and it'll clean the car off. Complicated yes, but it's better than the poor light of winter.

That sounds overly complicated  I mean, the lighting for winter isn’t that bad, at least on my tv it isn’t.

By the way, how’s that B5 Blue treating you lad? :)

I mean it's not bad on my TV either lol but the other seasons still look much better. The blue looks absolutely stunning, I may have crashed into a few too many things in my Demon looking at it

I'm leaving my house after this. I want that 2000GT.

I got that a while ago and I love it :)

I will say I'm rather disappointed in FH4's colors on the 2019 BMW Z4 (G29)

Would like to see San Francisco Red Metallic:

I feel like the blue in the game is way too metallic compared to the real life Misano Blue Metallic:

As it is winter, I cannot guarantee 100% accuracy, at least compared to colors done in other seasons. If anyone thinks any of these colors need improvement, just let me know and I will adjust as necessary. It might have wait until spring, but we'll just have to see what happens.
