They should really bring the new Jimny.

And the new Swift. And the old Swift. And the old Jimny.

and play the game "casually", for lack of a better definition

That's a perfectly valid definition, "gamers" made it a dirty word.

I agree that the game is extremely inconsistent and badly in need of a refresh, they keep building on the series' dated foundations that were perfectly fine but are totally showing their age now. I think they know this, though, which is why there won't be a new game this year (I hope), if FH5 is FH4 with a different map and different returning held back as DLC they're going to go the way of basically basically every EA or Activision franchise/studio that was huge but no longer exists.

It needs a refresh yes, but it's the only good option in this genre of games, what other free roaming driving game games is there?

The Crew 2 and that's it, and once you get over the map size you will turn it off and play this(there is no attention to detail at all and the modification system is junk, as well as car selection), the problem for PG is there is no real competitor to show there is a different way.

Imo they should be going the TDU route, with a bigger map. TDU was never made with a budget like Horizon to do their vision properly but if they moved Horizon in that direction, with physical car dealers, houses you can actually go into, yachts and a Much bigger map combined with their physics model and modifcation platform and they will have this genre locked up for years.

I do think Horizon 4 was a positive step in that TDU direction all though quite small, there is less focus on Festivals now and you can own homes even though they are just garages as you can't go in them or anything, I would suspect that will be expanded on in the next game.

I don't see major progress happening though unless they get a big budget competitor, like PD for example.

There is certainly some complacently no doubt.

That will be followed by the March edition of Forza Monthly, which will feature guests from both Playground Games and Turn 10, including Forza creative director Dan Greenawalt. We’ll also be welcoming Formula Drift driver Chelsea DeNofa to the show to talk about some of the cool stuff we’ll have going on in March.

Sounds like there'll be a lot of FD Content coming to FH4 and probably FM7. Also Dan G's first appearance on FM Monthly. Could be big news for either FH4 or FM7

Just FYI before the upcoming outcry, Vaugh Gittin Jr ≠ Hoonigan.

I'm surprised Vaughn is doing deals with Forza. Wasn't he contracted to SMS?

Nothing against the drift cars but T10 has developed a habit of shoving it down players' throats in the Forzathon challenges. Same with Rivals mode, in fact. I know they can be trivialized, because I do so, but it's supposed to be fun, not a chore. The vast majority of my cars aren't built for drifting, which can be a problem when the requirement is "complete a Drift event at Maple Valley in the rain in a car from the Vintage Off-Road division" or something like that instead of Sport Compact Icons for example which would be first pick for most (last month was actually this division, kudos to them).

But if they make it even remotely challenging or even time-consuming, people start to complain, so it's a double-edged sword.

He's been with Forza since last season. He also worked with EA/NFS before.

I personally think drift cars have their place in racing games, more so now that it's becoming more mainstream and recognized. It has been the fastest growing motorsport (despite the fact some people consider it motorized figure skating due to the judging aspect of it) in the last 5-10 years and it's a very easy way to attract the younger generation. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's basically free exposure... I believe last year's event at Long Beach attracted more people than the Indycar and IMSA weekends (or at least it was very, very close), and the FD guys use only a portion of the course.

To be honest, I can take my grip tuned car and get enough points to get those done. They aren’t exactly making the required points hard to achieve on FM.

At least I welcome this Mustang.
It is better than 488 Pista and Huracan Performante. (For me)

But I can understand why these cars are not being welcomed so much.
The scope of the upgrade is narrow, making it difficult to make a grip car of suitable PI. It will inevitably become a car for drift and Forzathon.
And in the wish list of the community various cars are posted, but many of them are not added in FH4. But instead a large number of variants were added.
Besides that, a lot of Ken Block / Hoonigan cars were added to FH4 as part of collaboration with Gymkhana 10.
These were a lot of new liver of the existing model he had driven. This made more players angry.
Probably, if proper DLC like conventional Forza was added, these cars would not have received much criticism.

Well I was wrong about that Mustang being in the car pass. I would have preferred the GT4 , NASCAR or the V8 Supercar versions to take up the modelling team's time.

Finally managed to snipe a Mercedes-Benz W154 off of the auction house after 3 hours of countless bidding wars and 5 million credits spent.

Full of pride, my first action was to take the new car for a test drive. I wanted to be immersed in the classic racer experience and so I switched to the cockpit view. The car drove fine, but then I changed up a gear. The gear change animation was for paddle shifters, in a car from 1939.

I don't have a W154 any more. I deleted it.

FM7 has the same shifting animation. It's hilarious how it hasn't been corrected after all these months.

See? That's what I'm talking about with regards to "certain cars draining resources from others".

To make matters worse, this car costs 10 million so it's a very difficult bug to spot and a low priority one to fix.

(I know you were being ironic but just wanted to point it out)
