I just experienced the most beautiful moment I’ve ever enjoyed in this game, and it happened during the freaking Playground Games.

Changing the weekly Games to award the prize for participating instead of winning has made it so much nicer to play. Not only do people seem less aggressive and determined to win, you also get 'forfeits' like that when people just want to complete the series.

Curious as to why the Streams are a week earlier then normal. But Digital Foundry released a video showcasing Dirt 5 on the Series X, so maybe we will get to see the Series X upgrades in action with today's stream.

Horizon Backstage... what?

GMC Syclone
GMC Typhoon
Hennessey Velociraptor

Them refusing to name The AMC Pacer in the stream despite it being Wayne's car seems kinda strange. They have mentioned other cars before, hopefully that means a Pacer is coming and not something bad.

Apparently they have a fix for the run hangtime bug. Hopefully it's effective for most players experiencing that issue.

I'm not able to watch right now. Please explain Horizon Backstage.
From what I remembered seeing, you need a Backstage Ticket to access this, and you'll get at least one out of four free cars of your choosing.

However the selection of cars will shuffle so you have the option to vote which of two cars being featured would you want next (the most popular vote being the next car to be feature some time later).

And completely pointless for players like me that already own every single car in the game.

Would be nice if it was in the game early on, but adding it 2 years later makes it near useless for most veteran players.
Probably why the chat has been disabled for this stream.

If I can't put vinyl on the bottom of the Cyclone's body again, I'll only be able to laugh at their lazy work.

Seriously, why can't they do something that was possible with Forza on Xbox 360 that they could do with Forza on Xbox One?

My gut feeling on this one is so mixed, it’s like I had an egg salad sandwich and warm milk for lunch. I was really hoping for the cyclone spoiler (should’ve known better than to have expectations at this point), and it kills me when PG has said in the past about redundancy yet includes two extremely similar GMC’s, they’re both nice but imo one would have sufficed. Also the pacer fake out as others have said. But on the other hand, the Typhoon iirc is another entirely new car, not ported or on any leaked list, so from that... hopefully there are other surprises down the road. As far as backstage pass, no thanks lol.

I still don't understand why they streamed a week ahead of the usual schedule... I was half expecting something important. The monthly show is basically a recap of what we just watched, still no news on the next Motorsport game or anything about next-gen optimisation for the current game. A bit boring update, honestly. Looking forward to the SyTy twins as they've always been a lot of fun, but that's about it really.

It was DLC in FM4.

Cannot say I care much for the AMC Pacer but what a dick move they pulled by making it seem so obvious and then add a feature instead. Same old middle finger attitude toward the fanbase.

As for the new cars, not much excitement to share. Six-wheeled trucks aren’t my thing and two nearly identical GMC models at once is a bit meh.

Update, please just sort out the bugs.

Agreed @GTvsForza! 👍

Not the greatest update there is, but since it has new cars for us to collect, I'm all for it!

It could have been worse, such as PG leaving us in a dark without a new Forza Motorsport this year. I'm cool with what we get so long as PG fixes the bugs and glitches that now occur in game.

PS: Where is my Nissan Versa SL!!!!

Personally, I welcome any car to the game, new or recycled.
I second this, and, all things considered, I'm happy with the content getting a little less unique considering we're now into year three of the game. There's only so much you can add new when the devs are probably starting to focus on the new game, so I don't mind the FM4 returners at all.

How so?

The clip of Wayne's World features Wayne and Garth showing their Alice Cooper backstages passes to literally everyone. Backstage passes = Horizon Backstage.

Of course we had no reference point that this meant a new Horizon Backstage feature, because... we didn't know about it, and the assumption was "it's a clip of Wayne's World, it must be the Mirthmobile" (as the only significant car in the film), but the key to that particular scene is the backstage passes. In retrospect, if it had been the Pacer, it probably would have been the clip of them doing Bohemian Rhapsody.

I'm not sure who you were responding to, but I'm pretty sure you just answered your own question. With no one having heard of Horizon Backstage before, the natural assumption to a clip of Wayne's World is they are bringing back the AMC Pacer. You can't blame people for feeling disappointed when they learned that wasn't the case. More importantly, there are literally hundreds of movies with scenes set backstage at concerts. They could have chosen any of them, but they didn't. They specifically chose Wayne's World, knowing people would guess the Pacer. So a lot of people are feeling like the rug has been pulled out from under them and I don't blame them.

Nielsen. That's why I quoted him.

All fine, but I don't see how teasing a new feature is a "middle finger attitude toward the fanbase" - and a lot of the fanbase was bitching about it being four American cars just 24 hours ago.

We all assumed that the clip meant the AMC Pacer because the movie was Wayne's World. None of the other clips referred to a car from the film shown - otherwise Jurassic Park would have been a Ford Explorer, and Twister a Dodge Ram. Two were what we saw - Eurofighter Typhoon/GMC Typhoon, velociraptor/Velociraptor - and Twister was an oblique reference to the GMC Syclone because a tornado is a cyclone, which is honestly pretty weak (I was figuring on an Oldsmobile Toronado, as less of a leap).

Perhaps we shouldn't have assumed that the fourth clip was a car from the film, but we did. And we're responsible for that assumption.

Well, it was a choice that was intended to make us think it was a Pacer.
They made the "right" choice in that sense. Yeah, aside from whether it was fun from a player's point of view or not.

Don't get me wrong, the backstage pass could be one of the most useful features for players if they handle it right.
And while I was looking forward to Pacer, I don't harbor any strong anger over this.
However, I can understand the disappointment of those who were looking forward to this car.
Also, people were probably expecting to see four cars added for the first time in a long time, since lately it's often been three cars added in a season.

Well, I don't think we need to blame the people who were expecting Pacer for this.

You more or less summarized the issue yourself. The obvious answer when talking Wayne’s World in a racing game context is AMC Pacer. Besides, the monthly clues are related to cars about 97% of the time. PG must know this too, definitely.

If anyone actually connected the dots between the movie scene in question and the Horizon Festival main stage, then more power to them I guess, but it’s still far-fetched to the point where I feel like PG should consider adding the AMC Pacer in a future update, just to compensate FH4 fans who got trolled by looking forward to said car. It was in FH3, after all.
