Forza Horizon 4: General Discussion

So glad it's coming to Steam, this allows me hope that FM8 will release same time on Steam so we no longer have to use the utterly diabolical MS store and it's so called..."SERVERS"...yeah. Also, will this finally mean the files will be unlocked and not have that lock on them? That could pave the way for PC modding in Forza which would be incredible...unlikely, but incredible.

In other news yikes, guess I won't be driving the "Nashole" in cockpit view, how ridiculous. For the other cars, we really really REALLY need an "adjust seat/interior camera" option, it's been too long and is greatly needed, especially for some cars were your face is planted in the rear seat or worse, inside the middle of the seat with ol' shorty at the wheel.

Hope saves transfer, would wish even more if the MS store versions could be transferred to Steam.

I wonder if the Steam version of FH4 will remain available for years to come, and not suffer the “sunsetting” fate having affected previous Forza titles distributed digitally by Microsoft only. Even FH3 is already buried, and FH4 really deserves a better long term fate.

You make an excellent point...but I feel this will/can still happen on Steam, taking a look at this huge list of delisted games, it's staggering really but it's all down to licensing:

Another question I have, how are they gonna handle the seasonal car drops that Steam players would of missed out on? I mean, their is TONS of them now: https://forza.fandom.com/wiki/Forza_Horizon_4/Cars/Hard-to-Find

Unless they are going to enable them all to recirculate again back into seasonal events and pools, or just metric ton drop them all on us again for "regular purchase" which is what they should do IMO.

You still have to sign into an Xbox Live account for Halo, so I suspect that the cloud save will transfer.
They did confirm on the Forza monthly stream that saves do not transfer to Steam due to some technical reason with how the cloud saves work and interact with Steam. So it will be a separate Save file. However Leaderboards are still linked to the Gamertag, so if you use the same Microsoft account on both versions it will still show your leaderboard times.

Sorry if I'm flogging a dead horse, but has PG stated if the FH3 HW expansion will ever see the light of day in FH4?

No one from PG mentioned anything about 3rd expansion as far as I know.

I have no problem paying 10€ for 6 cars since this is the first time they ask for anything outside the Ultimate. I have other concerns. If I look at the history of previous HW cars I barely put any mileage in them. The Bone Shaker lead with 107 miles. The Twin Mill has zero. Same with Barett Jackson. The Atomic has 14 miles while the Hula and Duble Down both have zero miles. I like the look of them but don't want to drive them that much.
On the other hand I did 6000+ miles with the Pulsar, 2000+ with the Hammer and the 205 Rallye.
What to do? Should I buy or should I go.

Same here, I always want the new content even for a fee but I don't really have much of an incentive to drive them once I have 'em.

On that basis I would've preferred if they had included them along with the HW expansion from FH3 with a bunch of specific events for each car.

Oh well, first world problems.

Depends. BS was OP for adventure so everybody used it. New cars could be too ;)

Slightly off-topic I know, but where are you getting mileage stats for your cars?

In garage press A on any car and you will find View History. There you will find all the info of that specific car.

I wouldn't trust the mileage numbers too much, as ever since Horizon 2 they've been bugged. Say if you drive 3 miles the game will show it as 12 or something, however if you did those 3 miles 1 mile at a time, resetting after each 1 (fast travel or enter house/event) those 3 miles would be calculated as 7 or something. I'll re-test a little later and see what the numbers actually are but it seems to go higher and higher the longer you drive.

Ups, wasn't aware of that. I've just completed 1 lap on Goliath in a 0 mile car and it shows 76 miles driven. No way the Goliath is even a third of that. Oh well... now I know.

Hot Wheels DLC
72 Chevy Luv
57 Studebaker Golden Hawk Dream Roadster
2JetZ
49 Chevy Dually
69 International Harvester
Nash Metropolitan

They are all custom built and not the original cars, unfortunately.

The two seasonal cars are the 2020 GT500 and the 2012 Shelby 1000

Oh the Mustang Shelby GT500 it's another car took off from my wishlist. Great Surprise! ^^ Also nice to see the 1000 back into the series :)
Yes, i agree with you... it would be great to see a original Studebaker (rumored in FM4 years...) and the Nash :(

So I've just driven 5-0 mile Fiestas that have an accurate trip meter (corroborates with the ANNA waypoints) for 5 miles each and pretty much every one has a different mileage.

Red Fiesta: after checking the history after each mile it went 3, 5, 8, 12, 17 for a total of 17 miles on both the pause menu history and the garage history. Every other car changed its mileage in the garage compared to the pause menu.

Green Fiesta: did the same as the red car and got, 6, 8, 13, 17, 22, however the garage history shows it as being 32 miles.

Pink Fiesta: drove 5 miles straight without pausing to check after each mile and it showed as having driven 5 miles in the pause menu, 15 miles when I went back to the garage.

Black Fiesta: I did 2 miles then switched into a different car and then back and did 3 miles. It showed after 2 miles as 2 miles and after the 5 total it showed 11 miles, though the history when you check again in the garage menu is 23 miles.

White Fiesta: I did one mile at a time then switched into a different car, then back and got, 3, 9, 12, 13, 13 for a total of 13 in the pause menu and 18 in the garage history.

My total mileage went up the correct amount from 14,987 to 15,012, I mean its not game breaking its just weird.

Ah cool, thanks. Never knew that.

I ran the Goliath route as part of the "drive 26 miles" challenge this week. I started on Princes Street, ran the whole circuit, and when I got back to where I started, my tally was 25 miles.

Anyone know what's in the Forzathon shop yet?

On the mileage topic - for some reason by far my most driven car (by a very large margin) is a Ford F100 that I used to complete the dirt drift zones. Like it has several thousand miles on it and there is simply no way it was driven that much. I wonder if there is something weird going on with the fact that its AWD and had a lot of wheelspin?

I know the game want you to believe that the Goliath is about 25 miles but I never bought that. I mean the Nordshleife is 13 miles long and it actually feels longer than the Goliath when driving in game. Not to mention how long it feels driving 25 miles in real life.

Well Goliath has basically no slow sections unlike the Nurburgring. With an S class car your average speed is probably close to 260km/h or higher. Pretty certain Goliath is longer. And in real life you (probably) are not driving 300km/h+
