I know numbers are meaningless without context... Anyway FH5 has just passed player engagement count on its largest leaderboard. It's not really a fair comparison since FH5 Hall of Fame leaderboard include everyone who start the game once, while FH4 The Stunt Driver is available after two mandatory races. Anyway they are both growing pretty fast too. FH4 got 100k new entries on the Stunt Driver leaderboard in the past week.

Again nothing serious. Just some numbers.
Im curious as to how many players play it monthly. On the Monthly Festival Playlist Leaderboards FH5 has betweeen 300k and 500k players (depending on the quality of the update).

I wonder if their player activity graphs have a spike around the start of a new season, and then a massive dip afterwards?

Presumably a minor spike every Thursday and a bigger spike if there’s a popular car on offer.

Steam doesn’t show big jumps though, just the usual daily/weekend cadence.

Judging just from the Monthly Rivals than is far less. 30k in FH4 vs 250k in FH5. But that is not surprising. FH4 has this bug now that won't allow you to 100% the playlist and another missing rewards bug. Or maybe 30-50k is actually what is to be expected after 4 years.
The fun thing is that a lobby of 60 players in FH4 seems full of life but when you are driving around you are mostly alone, just like in FH5.

Actually, I think they pushed a patch recently that made you able to 100% the playlist again, correct me if I'm wrong though.

A week ago, I saw the most loaded lobby I have ever seen in fh5, and it was ridiculously fun. All the way from the main festival strip to the big mountain and then along the coastline through the golf course and then to the airport circling to apex. Me and my friend kept running into people the whole time (8+ all the time on screen), and everyone is right, it genuinely feels like a different game.

In FH4, you could find such situations very frequently, especially along the highway (southern/north ends), festival site, windmill jump and of course most forzathon live locations.

It's one of those won't fix or by design issues.
FH4 Known Issues

You can, yes. But it's the same in FH5. If you drive near the festival or on highway you will always find lots of players. I'm just saying that having dedicated serves (like in FH4) does not necessarily make for a better experience.
Even in a lobby of 60 players I rarely see more than 3 players doing forzathon live. Even with lots of low level players. Ok, in the early days things were much better.

Seems like they mean it in a retroactive application only
The illusion of a lobby full of players is better given by the pause menu which lists the number of players in your session:

And then also shows those players on the world map.
FH5 doesn't show a player list and the players/convoy tab is only about your convoy (vicinity?) and not the entire lobby. It basically shows much less people than FH4 does.
However in practice they are about the same, but it is magnified by the fact that FH5 is 50% larger (plus deserts always feel more empty than other terrains). The limit of 12 cars on screen is the same for both games.

Anybody else notice the 46 ford deluxe station wagon's headlights are pretty bad looking? Compared to other sealed beams in the game they look like a sheet of cheap plastic. Normally I don't complain about these kinds of things but it's actually getting in the way of my photography. I might just end up editing some better headlights over them.

Here's my absolute shot in the dark for this month (heh, no pun intended) : somewhere on that board it says designs game player so maybe livery previews? Take this with a grain of salt, obviously.

To me, that blue circle section didn't really scream stadium to me, more like the overpass on the highway. This might be its location?

An all too easy and probably improbable guess, but the bus and golf course splash screens may be a clue that the next update's reward car will be Volkswagen-focused.

FYI: List of VW Golfs/Bus that have not appeared in FH5.
  • 2010 Volkswagen Golf GTi Mk6 (Xbox 360 era car)
  • 2006 Volkswagen Golf GTi (Xbox 360 era car)
  • 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTi
  • 1966 Volkswagen Double Cab Pick-Up (VW Bus pickup variant)

...Or add Volkswagen ID. Buzz as "New to Forza"?

PS: The diagram at the bottom of the whiteboard appears to depict wall riding or ramming.
Will they introduce a new penalty?

If they do a VW update and don't bring bring back the ID.R then I'll be a bit sad.

If they're doing a VW update, they're not likely to add the ID.Buzz yet since the car hasn't been in our shores yet. It is available in Europe now, but I highly suspect they'll probably re-add the Karmann Ghia or the aforementioned ID.R.

I would also vouch for the ID.3.

As much as I'd like the ID.Buzz (and I don't even normally like EVs) this is probably the more realistic answer. Double Cap Pickup + Karmann Ghia.

I got nothing.

Two googly eyes = I2 = straight twin engine = FIAT 500 TwinAir?

(obviously not, because Stellantis)
