Popping in to this thread to say this looks incredibly cool. Would be great for people like me who don't exactly want to bring out an entire simrig for FH5 but still want an element of better control.

Could definitely be useful for other racing sims too... :P
yeah it’s kind of a throwback to the old PlayStation racing specific controllers. Would be cool if the Xbox had gyro steering too.

I did try one of these back in the day but it didn't work out too well for me without resistance to turning. Guess it relied on muscle memory I don't have.

Is the Oreos Zonda treated as a separate DLC car like the OPI Ford GT, or is it a standard Zonda with a special livery a la the Pride Month Zonda?

Should note, both the OPI GT and Oreo Zonda start at S1 900. They're basically Forza Editions without the tag.

Also, in the string files of FH5, I discovered several unused manufacturers mentioned in List_PartManufacturers (which was mostly encrypted, but left with a lot of brand names for vehicle parts, although I feel that this has nothing to do with "speculating" what cars may be added in the future).

Some of the most interesting brands include:
  • Ligier
  • Reynard (Indycar constructor)
  • SCG
  • Delage
  • Icona
  • BRM
  • Bizzarini
  • Isuzu
  • Rivian
  • Gordon Murray Automotive
  • DAF Trucks
  • Ginetta

Nothing in the string files is encrypted.
I see... What could be the meaning of these gibberish lines on the string files?

FH5 Release Notes: March 8th, 2023 (Hotfix)

We're constantly working to improve the experience in Forza Horizon 5. Below you will find a summary of items fixed or improved upon in this update.

Version Number:
  • Xbox One: 2.567.563.0
  • Xbox Series: 3.567.563.0
  • PC: 3.567.563.0
  • Steam: 1.567.563.0

General
  • [PC] Fixed an issue where the game client could crash while in Benchmark mode
  • Improved game stability in Eliminator where sometimes players could experience crashes while being challenged in a head 2 head
  • Reduced the cost of some EventLab props after previous budget miscalculation fix
Playground Games Developer’s Note:

In the previous Forza Horizon 5 update, Horizon Wilds Takeover, we fixed a miscalculation with the EventLab props budget when entering the Blueprint Builder. This meant that existing events jumped in budget usage when compared to previous versions of the game. The purpose of this change was to ensure the stability of our game on all platforms, as we observed several instances of game crashes in highly detailed events, which was caused by limited memory capacity on some devices.

We’ve listened to your feedback and now understand that we underestimated the impact this would have on EventLab creators, especially those in the middle of creating complex events. We apologise for this.

We’ve reviewed, recalculated, and optimized our limits to bring them as close as possible to those in previous versions of the game while maintaining game stability on all platforms.

Please note after this update, there will still be a small increase in the budget usage of props when compared to earlier versions of the game, however we expect this will be much reduced and should be enough that players can edit their events to bring themselves back under budget.

We thank you for the passion you put into your amazing EventLab creations, we love seeing what you're capable of creating with our tools.

From twitter:
Work remains ongoing to clean up the Forza Horizon 5 Leaderboards. To date, we have removed over 3.7 million entries from over 700 Rivals Leaderboards.
This week we will delete another group of cheated times on our Rivals Leaderboards including some of the most egregious examples. Thank you for your continued patience and reports.

@PJTierney I played your D Class races last night. A relaxing set of races after finishing off the weeks challenges in the Hot Wheels park. Cheers, I enjoyed them.
Nice :)

They're literally just the standard Festival routes but in D-Class.

Blueprints is the only way to set up multiplayer races with class restrictions, especially for classes not represented in Horizon Open.

I make them for Casual Racing Mondays, and we drove in D this week.

I don't think you've cheated bud. I've not gone on the game yet today, but if you read the weekly write up Famine does each week you'll see he's had the same thing happen to him.
Of course. I nearly lapped them on the second race. 😝

I'm seriously curious if I accidentally cheated or something? Is it meant to be stock Minis?
Nah, it’s D500 restriction, so upgrades are allowed. I think most people don’t own a Mini for whatever reason and just get given one as a rental.

The off-road races with the Hoonigan Bel Air are awful. The damn thing keeps tipping over!

Event list wasn't too bad this week to get the 20 points.

The Trial was actually a cool challenge because there were 3 basic ways to get a Mini to D500; AWD with crap tires, grippy tires low power FWD, or high power FWD with crap tires. It actually made for some interesting racing as cars were strong in different parts of the tracks. My high power FWD build was kind of suffering to drive, although the AWD guys in the lobby didn't look like they were handling well either. It made for a few awkward bumps that looked pretty intentional I think.

Just as was the case with the previous 2 entries, this game needs more low class racing, the battles are more fun and usually cleaner because you don't accidentally bounce off of little bumps into each other and it's much easier to go 2/3/4 wide and not end up with someone shoved out of a checkpoint or into a tree. It also makes builds much more interesting when you can't just throw a ton of the same parts at every car.

The layout for the mud park rallycross whatever EventLab was was actually decent and even included a joker lap line. On my old OG XB1 the frame rate was awful at turn 1 and not great a few other places, but a few parts weren't bad. Could use a few parts of the walls smoothed a little though as they jut out a bit.

Then the rally stage one was pretty enjoyable. Not too many props so no framerate issues, and good road/trail selection, and the rally Escort is actually a fun car to drive.

Then you just had to the photo thing which is always tedious but I probably can't say that this week since it's Hoonigan themed. Don't get me wrong, taking pictures can be enjoyable but I want to take them of what I want, so the photo "challenges" always just feel like a hoop that I rush to jump through so I can move on to other things. Quick and easy? Sure. Fun or engaging? Nope.

Overall not bad.

FWD Puma served me very well for the B class Retro Rally championship. I don't think I upgraded handling beyond putting it on rally tires and putting rally suspension and such, but it handled way better than I was expecting it to.

Kinda off topic but I wish more racing games had Ford Puma, it's shockingly underrepresented.

I know I should've done it yesterday but I'm going to at least try to get that Ridgeline Baja today, if not later. I'm going to have to pass up the trial this week though.

I am currently around 30ish points for the series, so it'll be awhile before I get the BRAT.

The trial is stupid easy with the AI on stock minis. I’d be shocked if anyone actually loses to them.
