Anybody noticed the Falcon XB speedometer written in km/h but it read as if it was mph?
I did too--the tachometer's out of sync with telemetry data as well. Probably gonna be one of those things PG never fixes but it's honestly shocking considering that it's an actual new model from what I can tell.

Not the first time. Since I drive it all the time, I noticed the 22B's modeled tachometer doesn't sync with its actual RPM, it's very visible at low RPMs.

It seems to be the least desynchronized at around 7,000, but it's still pretty bad.

They still haven't fixed the Oldsmobile Toronado's speedo either. It has a duplicate "110" where a "115" should be. I tried sending a ticket last year but it was immediately marked as "solved" with no answer...

A lot of the modeling issues will often never be fixed for a variety of reasons. I can only guess the Toronado they modeled had a design flaw with their unique speedometer and that's why there's a duplicate 110. Or they were lazy and it was a last-minute change.

There's several cars afflicted with interior modeling problems. Notably the TTS which had its interior labels tampered with (which has been around since FH3 but was only partially fixed in FM7 onwards). If there were ever a bugfest thread I'd put them there.

Another example is the warped GT-R badge on the already-abysmally modeled R32, and I even put up comparisons. This happened since FH3 iirc.

FM6 (sorry if it looks really dark as it was taken on that game's Forzavista but if you squint your eyes you can see the proper stencil)

Since FH3 onwards (pic is from FH5)

Notice how the GT-R stencil looks deformed?

Similar problems have happened with the Clio '13 having Jaguar R-S badges on the steering wheel column instead of the actual brand's badge.

The Mitsubishi GTO has a similar tach synch problem. Also seem to recall the boost gauge being backwards (though I think that has been fixed as of FH4).

On a more positive note, while using the Toyota Sports 800, I realised they actually have animations for your driver dipping the clutch when changing gear. It's something you'd never notice normally but the cramped interior means you can actually see it happening.

Anyone get to try the crew motorsport? I tried to get into it but something is just off.
Pretty good, full arcade alternative to forza horizon. But it doesn't fully utilize things that forza can't do to get a leg up on it ( boats, planes, racecars etc). It feels like if they made a an actade game solely based on the festival playlist.

It does use a lot of things to it's advantage, like the constant use of filters(that adapt to location, weather and time) to make every place you drive through, look like a movie set. The map itself is preety good and is larger than fh5 by a good bit. It scratches the itch for cities towns and even gas stations. But lacks tight sierra nueva type roads. However its handling isnt made for it anyway. It really needs to fix its physics inconsistencies however. I can see that becoming a problem for its longevity.

It runs heavier than forza at 1080p ultra for both (with rt at extreme and dlaa for forza). Online is a bit spotty like fh5 at launch. These will probably be optimized to some degree for launch hopefully.

The biggest hurdle it will have is its launch window. One week after starfield and baldurs gate 2, and just before cyberpunk expansion (plus it's overhaul update) as well as mortal combat within 2 weeks of its launch. The next month is also loaded with Forza motorsport, Alan wake 2 and spiderman 2.
I fear that this will suffer the same fate as grid legends that launched next to elden ring and gt7.

I don't know, I think that players that try all sorts of game genres are rare anyways, so Xbox/PC players that go for racing games first, really only have 2 major choices: FM and this (PS players only one). I spent a lovely Oahu weekend, and I will purchase it, and I will find no problem in distributing my time between it, FM, and FH5.

Yeah, if you examine our Steam, Xbox or Playstation libraries there are altogether too many driving games in there. :D

I have The Crew 2 on both PC and Xbox (due to incredible sale prices) and it's fun enough on occasion, but like GRiD 2019 and GRiD Legends I swiftly notice that I'm just not having as much fun driving on them than on Forza. Still, that's better than NFS Unbound (Gamepass) which I absolutely loathe - horrible physics.

I will no doubt get Motorfest and TDU Solar Crown, but Motorfest will probably wait for a sale. Solar Crown will depend on how close the physics are to FH5 as to whether I get it at launch or in a sale later.

I will say that on Xbox Series X and PS5 if you want a more serious racing game, then Assetto Corsa Competizione has excellent graphics and very decent controller support (especially for a port of a PC game) and fills the track racing and AI competition niche nicely. To the point that I basically don't care how good Forza Motorsport 2023's GT4 and GT3 cars are to drive, because they won't get close to the full grid, physics simulation and AI quality of ACC. But FM2023 has plenty of other types of cars to drive, so no worries there.

I'm not understanding the Poo reactions I got on the last post. It's not a deal-breaking problem that's causing me to hate the game — I wouldn't have 1,050 hours and counting if I hated playing — it's just little problems and issues... There's a fair few amount of those problems and it would be definitely better if they got fixed, but seriously, why the Poo reactions?

They must not like you. I know they're just little things but sadly these often will just be ignored. If it were a major problem it would have to be addressed at some point.

Frankly the poo reaction was unjustified, unlike the conflict 9 months ago.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've noticed more and more people just reacting out of spite. Luckily the toxic members are getting flushed out. There is nothing wrong with pointing out little flaws in the game, especially since so many people were harping on the 'bad models' lately.

Please bring it back!

My apologies. The poo wasn't directed at you or your pointing it out, it was more of a commentary on all the little interior modeling and animation goofs that shouldn't be making it past the final round of QA testing.

Did the new Icons of Speed story earlier, and while I always treat the stories as an exercise in finding the biggest shortcuts, I was very much surprised to find myself up in 510th position on the global leaderboards from setting a time a few hundredths over 32 seconds on the F40 top speed mission. It's not even hard, just drive straight forwards! Not the first mission that can have a full minute cut off it, but definitely the biggest jump in rankings by doing so.

Discussion of The Crew Motorfest closed beta from last weekend was here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/the-crew-motorfest-general-discussion.416168/

i participated, and it's definitely a lot better than The Crew 2, but for me the driving, physics and controller support are a number of steps behind Forza Horizon. It is unlikely to make me stray, certainly not at launch.
I listened to the car engine sound comparison of The Crew Motorfest and The Crew 2. For V12 engine sounds for the McLaren F1 and the Pagani Zonda R, The Crew 2 did better. The Crew Motorfest's V12 engines sounded a bit too grunty for what V12s were meant to be, to be honest. Forza Horizon 5 absolutely NAILED the Pagani Huayra R's V12 engine.

Ohhh, okay, yeah that makes more sense. You're good, I was just a bit surprised.

I'm still smiling at the fact we have the Subaru BRAT in this game. I remember rewatching the RCR video about it and thinking to myself many times it'd be a great fit for FH5, and we have it now! I can't think of many games that have it.

Now if we could please have the SVX to make my awful little Subaru fan heart happy...

I Know there's maybe too many posts about wants for future cars and stuff like that but with the return of the Stellantis brands (Especially Alfa/Lancia) I only really have 1 more (technically 3) wants for the remainder of the game and that would be the addition of Gordon Murray Automotive. T50, T50S Lauda and T33 would amazing. I could listen to that Cosworth V12 all day.

For anyone struggling with the Railton challenge for the Icons of Speed, you need to use Traction control. It's the only one that's incredibly difficult. I managed to get 44 seconds thanks to the assists.

I just kept the throttle pinned, no traction control. Manual gears though, so I could choose to only upshift from 2nd at the appropriate speed, which was somewhere past 100mph I believe. Shifting up early was too slow, but I got a 44 too with the right shift point.

I did it without assists on the wheel (gated shifter and clutch). Whew... It DID take a few retries... and remembering where the crap that spawns on the beach goes. Keep it as straight as possible and don't shift too early... Don't recall what my time was, I just took my 3 stars and went.

I managed it with no assists, Just need light throttle control in late 2nd and 3rd to limit wheelspin and theres obviously a slight right hand curve to the beach so keep as close to the water as possible to lower the amount of distance you have to travel to the finish.

I used manual transmission and traction control for that. Managed to just get 3-stars that task.
