Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure Expansion

I'm probably alone in this, but I'd love for the Citroën DS 21 to return from FH4. We only got a couple months with it before FH5 came out, and I'd been waiting decades for that car. It even makes sense in a Baja expansion since it was used extensively as a rally car.
Nope, you’re certainly not alone! It was the DS23 in FH4 by the way but I loved that car as well. It’s been cut for FH5 along with a full graveyard of classics I’d love to see return to the franchise (Opel Kadett, Jaguar XK120, Mercedes 280SL, VW Karmann Ghia, Citroën 2CV & Honda S800 just to name a tiny bit of that massive list). It’s been blatantly & crystal clear that in case you love and appreciate the classics more than the modern cars, that FH is no longer the place for you. With every new game, classics have been cut and left behind drastically, this started with the move from FH3 to FH4 and then again from FH4 to FH5. Hence why I’m really excited to see cars like the Subaru Brat return to FH5 even though it was already left out for FH4, I care more about that car returning than I care for more than half of the new cars for DLC2…

Meanwhile over in the other camp, the Citroën DS21 has been added to GT7 and the car is absolutely phenomenal over there! Superb handling and superb engine sound all just stock. And the gear shifting animation is even adapted for the gear lever being behind the steering wheel.

Let’s hope that it’s going to be just FH that focuses on the youngsters that want their 50th version of the latest Lamborghini Huracan Whatever Edition, but that for FM8 the focus is a healthy mix of road cars and race cars, both classic, retro and modern.

I hope there’s good rocky terrain in the new map, so we can do some quality King of the Hammers style rock crawling.

Late to comment, but I'm looking forward to this. I'm not over-the-moon excited/curious like with Fortune Island and the Hot Wheels DLC, but I am eager because I'm one of the weirdos that really enjoys off-road racing in the Horizon games. The upcoming Series will also be the first time in quite a while that I can see myself playing the game continuously again, as I am a sucker for most off-road cars in Horizon.

What actually has me really excited, though, are the smaller things being added, namely Launch Control, Anti-Lag Turbos and the return of Epitaph Radio. As a Manual w/ Clutch user, I'm hoping for Launch Control to be useful in the main game, in order to fix the issue of some cars stalling at the start line (looking at you #14 Fiesta RX), and to give some of the Super/Hypercars improved launch. Anti-Lag will be great for my S1 Drift and Rallycross cars, hopefully making them a bit more responsive and realistic. Epitaph was imo the 2nd best station in FH3 (behind Hospital), so its awesome to see them return. I'll be nice to have a more dedicated Rock station in Horizon besides XS.

I'm also looking forward to it! Arcade rally games are getting rarer than ever, and I need all the fix I can get.

Frankly, when I saw the trailer I thought "you know what, this kinda reminds me of Dirt 2" and I was instantly sold at that moment.

For me the physics of The Crew 2 and NFS just ruin the experience. Forza Horizon is pretty much the perfect simcade balance: plays wonderfully with the controller but you still need to drive like it's a car not hovercraft.

It's actually quite interesting how sim racers all fight about realism and physics, whereas arcade racers want completely different things. Horizon straddles the two camps more than any other game, which allows both camps of die hards to ridicule it. Yet it is played and loved by millions for good reason.
I totally agree with this.

It'll be interesting to see how the ANTI-LAG and LAUNCH CONTROL affect a cars PI rating when added

Launch control is an assist, so it will be usable on all cars and have no PI implications.

One thing I hope for is that the Rally Events are available for all classes. I need to replicate some classic rally in my Gordini and Mini Cooper, which are both D500. ^_^
I’m pretty sure you will be able to race every rally in every car class. Ever since FH4 you can basically race anything in everything. I doubt they will change that.

Pretty bad expansion considering Forza has particularly terrible off-road physics, AI and difficulty balancing. I've avoided all offroad events in the game because the AI runs on a different physics model and are not affected by jumps, water, obstacles or anything else like the player does. Whenever I've tried it I've had to turn down the difficulty a level or two compared to road races. And this problem stretches all the way back to the original horizon, so more than 10 years. Making a full expansion of the worst component of the game is dumb as hell.

I actually have fun with the offroad races in Forza Horizon 5. The new Rally Adventure Expansion gives me some FH1 Horizon Rally Expansion vibes.

IMO FH3 didn't have the best dirt physics as it felt like you were on ice, same with FH1 and 2. FH4 was pretty good, but cross country was the WORST for me. FH5 however has proper dirt physics because the cars actually feel planted to the earth as they travel via there suspensions. But I do agree that the AI are awful in dirt races, as they tend to rubberband like a lot. :\

Pretty bad opinion considering you haven't played it yet, nor has anyone here. I avoid all opinions like this because everyone forms one before they actually try something. Whenever I've tried to reason with these people and explain that I've had to lower my expectations a few notches compared to every other topic. And this problem stretches all the way to the original trailer for FH5, so more than a year. Making a full opinion based on something you haven't played is dumb as hell.

Outside of 1 specific track (San Juan Scramble), I actually find offroad AI much easier to beat on unbeatable than the road AI. They generally can't maintain as much speed as a player offroad because they follow the driving line exactly. Even with rubberbanding and grip cheats they take a lot of corners slower than a player taking a really wide line for example.

LOL, it's a "bad" expansion despite literally no-one having played it yet.
It's funny how opinions like that can be formed literally out of thin air, yet not having played not only the expansion but also the game itself. I could never understand this type of nature. 🤔

Perhaps there is an illusion effect due to the angle of view, but the quarry in expansion 2 appears to be a fairly large area.

Do you think they'll fix offroad physics or AI just for this one expansion when they haven't fixed them in 5 iterations of the game? Some people are fine with these elements, I think they're done very poorly and not fun at all. I woul've preferred a city expansion, but of course the crappy old xbox one can't run dense city environments, so maybe for the next full game.

Here you go bud have a nice biscuit and cheer up. Remember that "crappy old Xbox One" use to give you hours of fun so go easy on the old gal. What we think they'll fix is of no consequence at all bud to the quality of the forthcoming DLC. It may be great or it may be terrible. My issue is why are you judging it now on past performances of software already released? Let's just wait for March 29th to arrive and we'll all see together how good it is or isn't. You wouldn't judge a human being on the prejudices you already hold against their family members would you? Same principle here.

Now do you want a nice Choccy Hob Nob or Custard Cream?

The thing that's bugging me about this expansion from what i've seen; the map looks good, obviously but is it really that different from the main map? It just seems like 'Base FH5 map but more of it' and it feels weird that the EventLab tools have gotten more powerful over the course of the FH games, but the expansion maps seem to go backwords in uniqueness compared to the base game

based on their live stream, the focus was on interesting roads with improved undulations and more of a rally feel than the normal map.

Also it’s clear that this expansion is basically Baja 1000 not WRC. We should just treat it as such and not hope for too much.
