Really digging this month's car pack. Not my favorite, perhaps (and that may be shocking!), but still a nice and varied selection of cars that fit well the nature of the game, one way or another. The Z06 goes from 0 to ohmygodiamtooyoungtodie far too quickly, tho.
I love the Rebel. For those that don't know, the Rebel was AMC's mid-size car, between the full-sized Ambassador, and the compact Rambler American. AMC only ever built two different V8s in their history. The first was a mid=sized block that came in 250, 287, and 327 cid sizes built from 1955 through the late '60s. It was a good engine and gave AMC the all-important V8 that brought customers into showrooms, but it wasn't terribly amenable to performance tuning, They started on a new thin-wall mid-sized block, this time in 290, 343 and 390 cid versions that debuted in 1967. By 1970, those sizes were punched out to 304, 360 and 401 cubic inches. But it's important to note that all six sizes of the second generation V-8 were built on the same block, so you could put any size V8 into any size AMC. Even the tiniest Gremlin could accept the largest 401 V8. And that second generation V8 was a beautiful engine. They were plenty reliable, powerful enough to win the SCCA Trans-Am championship two years running, and impressively economical. Even after Chrysler took over AMC in 1987, they kept the 401 in production all the way through the end of production of the Wagoneer in 1991.
With all that being said, here are some pics of the Rebel and the Grand Wagoneer.
I was just going to photograph the two latest Corvettes and got a little carried away.
So we have two C1s, a C2, a C3, a C4, a C6, and two C7s. I think I would have sacrificed one of the C7s for a C5 so we have one of each generation.
@Moglet, I am totally digging that first shot of the P1 with the signs reflecting in the windshield and hood (or should I say "windscreen" and "bonnet" since you're in the UK?)
