Am I the only one thats actually picking it up from the store? lol.

I'm getting mine from the store as well, 9 excruciatingly long hours to go... They're doing that whole "get it at midnight" thing they did with most of the awaited big titles

Played it at a friend's house, random thoughts:

The Nurburgring is wider than GT5, thankfully. Did a couple laps in an NSX-R and there was definitely more room on the tarmac.
The physics aren't as convincing as GT5; the cars can oversteer pretty wildly in unlikely circumstances. At 100mph+ steady, you can still turn in so sharply that you can spin and you can also get wheelspin at those speeds with a 180hp little 1971 Nissan. It seems like the only time you get understeer is under hard braking.
And sliding at high speeds should scrub way more speed than it does.
Though the physics aren't as real to life as I'd hoped, it's still a fun challenge to get your car around a lap quickly and cleanly. You sort of have to rewire your brain a bit, tweak some settings and you'll have a great time.

There seems to be very few low speed corners in the game. For example the hairpins at Indy Grand Prix have been rounded out and blended so they're now like chicanes. Turn 1 is now a 3rd or 4th gear corner. (unless somebody correct me and they've changed the track in real life too)

Anyhow, the game is fantastic. You accumulate cars very quickly(often interesting ones, not crap boxes) and there are tons of things to customize. The World Tour mode is way too easy and you can't change the AI difficulty(I think it goes up as seasons go by but it's way too slow). I suggest going to the Events List and there you can and you can tweak it to get a genuine challenge and have some great races with the AI.

I love the little ratings you get as you race. It tells you how much you've drafted, how cleanly you overtook and how well you took a corner(seems to be based on speed and apex). 👍

edit: One thing that I'm disappointed in is the paint colors. The new(or recent) thing in the car world is matte paints but there's no option for it. But I know it's in there because a couple of the Lamborghinis are matte(and they look amazing).

The chicanes in the back side of the Indy Road course have been changed in recent years to accomodate bike racing. Turn 1, I thought, was left a lone.

Tomorrow I'll try to pre-order it if it's still possible.

I loved Forza 3, but it looks like FM4 will have the same crappy damage sistem (apart from those scratches lol).

I'll buy it anyways.

Question for anyone who preordered from Best Buy: how is the dlc code for the BMW M Coupe given to you? Email, or is it in those $5 preorder cards you can grab in store?

Indy road course (inner track) has been updated in the past few years, FYI.

On July 16, 2007, the Speedway announced that it would host a round of Grand Prix motorcycle racing beginning in 2008. The race was held for the first time on September 14, 2008, backed by Red Bull and known as the Red Bull Indianapolis GP. This marked the first motorcycle racing event at the facility since its first month of operation, in August 1909.
Modifications approved by the FIA and FIM were made to the former Formula One circuit, bringing the new track to a total of 16 turns.

Another GAME customer here who has had their copy shipped. I'm day off Wednesday, so I'm now getting my hopes up for Royal Mail to be nice and efficient. Considering I once sent an RSVP on the Wednesday morning and it had arrived in Thurso near John o'Groats the next morning, it's not much to expect lol. "D

My local gamestop isn't doing the midnight thing. I think they've only done it once I know of. I kinda understand why but at the same token they need to accommodate customers though. I call them and told them since you guys don't want to do the midnight thing you should be able to sell it like the last hour that you're open day before at least. It's not right that people in the neighborhood should have to wait when others are getting to enjoy it tonight. He's going to try to find out what they can do so I'm going to give them a call about an hour before closing.

It's only select stores that are doing that, for obvious reasons. I know EB games and Best Buy and the likes aren't doing that, since they're under law to close at a certain hour, no matter the circumstances (9pm here), but since I pre-ordered from a video store (think Blockbuster) with a dedicated game store integrated, they're allowed to retain their normal opening hours. Lots of people are pre-ordering from them now, so hopefully they'll have enough tonight, or I'll be a very dissapointed person.

You have to take into account if the store can accommodate the costs & if there's enough pre-orders to warrant one.

My Gamestop isn't doing it either because the demand wasn't there & the store can't afford to bring in the staff after hours just to supply the few amount of folks who did pre-order. It's hard to grasp for some in this forum, but FM4 doesn't quite bring in the hype like GOW3 did (because it was the final game in the trilogy), or the ungodly popular MW3. Those titles can get folks to come in & wait an hour (or in MW2's case a couple years back, 3 hours :-O ) before midnight with lines wrapping around the building.

I will be picking up my copy tomorrow at lunch though.

I like the free theme on XBL...

According to a thread over at FM.net (take it with a grain of salt for the time being), the credit glitch is still alive and well.

If true, how 🤬 difficult is it to fix that? With the exception of the original, it's been the same problem since 2.

Just got a text message from GameStop telling me my preorder will be available for pickup tomorrow when the store opens. Yay!! I WILL BE THERE. 👍

Just got a call an hour ago myself saying the same thing. Couldn't get them to give me the game tonight though when I called them. But they'll be open early tomorrow they said so I can pick it up at 8 for my Forza Day.

Well if it does well, it doesn't change much this time around. The game constantly throws money your way, you can get unis by just participating in different competitions... there are random unicorn gifting besides the winners. The only thing that should be damaged is the auction house, and we all know the original painters don't sell their creations for so high, and the unicorn auctions would be a circus, but, this has always been the case. I know it sucks but, I think that it won't be as detrimental to the experience as in past Forzas.... I mean, you get free upgrades. I spent more money on those than on cars in F3

I've had an email today to say my LCE has shipped, hopefully it will be here on Weds.

t.o.

I am still using the FM3 theme. I think it is sexier :P

Again, Best Buy Canada drops the ball, since there's no tracking info or email about my order. All I'm told on the website is:

"Scheduled for Ground Delivery Estimated Arrival: 10/07-10/18/2011"

Yep, those are the dates given. On an expedited order of a single video game. Curses.
