From the official site:

Look for more details on the LaFerrari and the LaFerrari Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 5 in the near future. In the meantime, look for our next update of the Forza Motorsport 5 Showroom this coming Wednesday, November 6, featuring a complete list of all the cars that will be playable in Forza 5 upon the game’s release on November 22.

Dun dun dun!

My dream has been realised. That means Day One V.I.P.

Great news! LaFerrari available on launch day. Bad news. It's part of a DLC pack.
smh
This time around the Car Pass doesn't seem like a great deal.

I will gladly pay T10 for delivering. P1 vs LaFerarri on Day One. Checkmate PD... ;)

I'm glad their strategy is working.
I was OK with paying for DLC in FM4/FH but with FM5 it's just going a bit too far.

Don't turn this into a versus thread. All you're proving is that every game has some amount of mindless fans, who'll throw money at a franchise without a second thought. Just because others are willing to wait and see is certainly not a bad thing.

Come on Slip i was just kidding.

I couldn't care less about the car. But the fact that Microsoft wants me to pay extra cash for 10 cars which should be in the game on Launch day, makes me to consider if I should keep away from the XO and the game altogether. Im my eyes it's simply a try at ripp off. I am starting to think that microsoft management is believing that their customers are that stupid. Instead of trying to provide their loyal fanbase with the best possible experience their are trying to milk them with a DLC on day one. The fun fact is that some guys are even happy about that.
Buy DLC at launch day and you are supporting this policy!
Rather than Checkmate PD , it should be checkmate stupid customer. You just paid 500€ for the new microsoft console and the game but if you don't pay another 10€ or buy the carpack you won't get this gorgeous Laferrari. Hehe!
So what is your choice?i would feel like a fool if I just bought FM5!
I read in the Forza Forum that the Nürburgring is going to be DLC as well. Let's hope it's a free DLC but I wouldn't bet on it.

I have to say that I have nothing against DLCs. I bought lots of them because they provide longevity to my favourite games, but I don't want to pay for them on Launch day, because it's obvious that this is content which should be already in the game!

They know it and that's why they are doing this. Lots of people get ripped off and are even happy about that.
And as long it stays like that , they are going to continue. Well, it's working, so why stop?
Fortunately 10 € aren't that much money for me now, but it wasn't always like that and I really don't want to support that practice of making fools out of their paying customers.

Why do they do this?
Because some guys like to throw their hard earned money at them like king1982. IMHO, it's ok to ask for money for content which was created after the games release but what was created before should be inside the game. It's just arrogant to believe that people will still buy the game although you cut part of the content on purpose.
Microsofts way of thinking is like:
Ok guys, the game is finished. How can we extract as much money as possible? What about leaving out one of the most popular cars and 9 more and get paid for that? Excellent idea! The idiots will buy it anyway. They already paid 500$ so they are going to pay 10 more. :)
Somehow I dislike the idea of buying this game now.

I was that guy when it came to forza 4. Season pass, porsche pack, LCE , tokens, you name it. It did feel like they were milking me for all I was worth a little bit but not as bad as FH. And now both of those are starting to pale in comparison to what FM5 is doing.
I was really hoping that they would cut us some slack since fm4 sales were down compared to fm3 and we already have to spend $500 on a console on top of the game. It was silly of me to think that way.
Today was not a good day for my inner T10 fanboy.
It was a really good day for my inner GT6 fanboy.

Where did they say the Ferrari would be in a DLC pack? Is it a V.I.P. thing?

Edit: Oh, wow. So the Season Pass is $50 this time, and the DLC packs are $10 a pop otherwise, and already they are including cars that we already know are done? I guess the Horizon DLC model is here to stay.

I doubt very seriously that people are being made a fool of for spending their money "willingly" on something that they want. Is there anyone on here that did not know that this was coming? I made a comment on here in reference to this a few days ago. Do I wish this car was included as part of the game without dlc? Sure do, but Turn 10 has an opportunity here and they are taking it. Now if the rest of the pack is basic crap, I will be more than a bit peed, but if it is a good pack, then I am cool. Some of the folks on the GT side are not happy that it is not in their game ... yet, (and they have a nice list of new cars) but you can bet that they will get it through dlc down the road. All these guys are in this to make money, my $50 is in hand! :)

No. I didn't see Microsoft nearly doubling the price of DLC coming. I certainly didn't see them brazenly holding off a car that is clearly done until the first DLC pack (which releases day one) either. Granted, I purposely blew off Horizon entirely largely because I saw them doing similar nonsense; so my only frame of reference is FM4, which I loved the DLC model so much in terms of value and selection that I bought/plan to buy all but two packs of it.

In comparison, the only GT5 pack I bought with my own money was the first one when it was bundled.

Meh, I refuse to buy the overpriced DLC on either side of the fence. I'll play with what they give me on disc, because that's good value and there's plenty of it. When all their DLC ends up in the next edition, I'll play it then. I'm in no hurry.

MS and Sony keep doing this because it keeps making them money. I don't expect it to stop any time soon, but at least I can save myself a few bob.

Well I for one dont mind paying extra for DLC.. All games have it. Just a fact of life for games these days.. And at least its not a moon buggy..

What is everyone's problem with DLC? Do you complain when your new car doesn't come with all the optional extras at the price of the standard model? DLC is no different to options on new cars. No one forces you to buy it.

If I got it right, they're holding back content and deliberately made it exclusive to DLC/Car Pass in order to push them. That's where the problem lies.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

But that's what a car manufacturer does with rear parking sensors for example. Each car they sell has the potential to have rear parking sensors fitted but they choose not to unless you pay them extra money. T10 have cars ready to use in game but won't give you them unless you pay them more money. What is different about the two?

It seems quite reasonably priced to me. Might get cheaper in future if more people buy the game. Giving away the game with some day one edition Xbox One's in UK will not help for a big budget game. Licensing and modelling at such high detail costs money. Compared to iRacing, it is a bargain. It will be interesting to see what they will do in the future, will they cut down in production, also will they charge more or less in future.

One's actually a worthwhile investment and one's shameless attempt at money grabbing? You're asking the wrong person and I honestly don't care in this case. I was trying to point out what people are opposing. Besides, what would the Forza experience be without $100 worth of DLC?

:sly:

And the beauty of DLC is that if you don't think it's a worthwhile investment you don't have to buy it ;)

So what is the problem again?

The problem is that the companies are going to sell incomplete games in the future, if we as customers start to support this nonsense. Don't be suprised if you will have to pay for a character in a roleplaying game or a weapon in a shooter or a fighter in a beat em up at launch day. Well we all are going to vote with our wallets.

So do you think that car manufacturers are selling incomplete cars by not including every available option on every car?
