Why isn't this thread pinned yet?

This subforum doesn't have many threads, and ones like this are usually bumped to the top quite often, so pinning isn't needed.

@SlipZtrEm If you're pinning threads here I suggest pinning all of these as I created them to work with one another:

They are on PC now also, and a PC is a must have for any sim racing fan due to it's exclusives.

PC is too expensive for me, a good gaming machine costs more than a ps4 and an xbox one together  Besides, I prefer to play on a TV (Yes, I know I can connect the pc to the tv with HDMI)

My laptop has 6gb of ram, an i3 processor and Nvidia 920MX graphic card, I doubt it runs any Forza game

Quite the opposite in fact, a GeForce GTX 720 runs Forza Apex pretty damn well from what I have been told.

I'm going to guess FM7 will be quite a bit more demanding than FM6 Apex. It also seems like budget builds don't offer much better performance than XB1 when it comes to FH3 so I can't see it being a worthwhile venture for FM7.

Keep in mind to that we're late into the generation and you can pick up a brand new XB1 for $250.

FH3 ran like garbage at launch, it runs MUCH better now. and Forza 6 apex runs amazingly well, very well optimised game so i expected FM7 to be too.

Do you have windows 10? if so download Forza 6 Apex, it's free. i think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the performance.

Honestly these guys are being a bit crazy, who builds a $375 computer?

$375 probably wouldn't cover just my GPU in a build or barely a CPU.

I get the "but you can if you get the worse parts and buy through private sellers" you shouldn't cheap out on PC parts; you're going to end up with an unreliable PC.

For the same console price vs PC price, or the same console specs vs PC specs, a console will always be much better than that PC. That is because a console is 1 system where all the parts are heavily optimized for each other and also for the OS & software that runs on it. A PC on the other hand will always be several individual parts that supposed to work together and there will always be some parts being the bottleneck and limiting the performance of other parts. Sure there can be some architectural standards and optimizations but it's still nowhere near the synergy you have a in a console.

On top of that also comes the software optimizations for consoles. For multiplatform games (PC-XBox-PS4) you can be sure that game developers will tweak their software and settings to be as as good as possible for those consoles (and this goes beyond what you have in a typical settings menu on a PC game). If you are on a budget PC and you have to lower your graphical settings to medium yourself via the settings menu and choose how you will put all those sliders yourself, this won't be nearly as optimal as those consoles builds are.

So yes, if you only have a 300-400 USD/EUR budget, a console will always be much better than a cheap PC. However, consoles sure aren't the technological creme de la creme, not even the PS4 Pro or X1X. They are the creme de la creme on a budget though. I believe the X1X will retail at 500 USD, for that budget you simply cannot build a PC that will run games as good as the X1X. Looking at the specs of the X1X it's really remarkable what performance is in that box for just 500 USD. Yes it won't be the "uncompromised 4K experience" as it was marketed in 2016 but that's another story.

I've been a high end PC gamer all my life (starting with a 386 DX33 back in the days :P), 7 years ago I built my last high-end PC which is now slowly aging (and it's main use is now Facebook, mail and forums :P). My Steam library is gathering dust as I play games now exclusively on consoles, got a PS3, XBox1, PS4 Pro and will get the X1X as well. IMO graphics on consoles have already evolved so much that even on the previous gen consoles they already look great. I saw the following video just yesterday, that is FM3 (a game from 2009) on an XBox360 and let's face it, this already looks great for today's standards:

And the following game is even from late 2007 on PS3:

Anyway, PCs have the advantage they can be used for a whole lot of other things as well. Consoles have that easiness and simplicity in their advantage and that's the main reason I like them so much. I already have a 4K HDR Dolby Atmos high-end home cinema system, it's so convenient to just connect a console to it (put it in my TV furniture together with the other devices) and not having to worry about Windows security updates and all those annoying things. The last years technological innovation IMO has more or less slowed down. Innovation these days comes at making things simple and easy to use. Hence the popularity of the iPhone since the first generation. For me consoles are just the continuation of a life or a former PC gamer, just simplified and not having to worry about much. I know developers will make their games the best capable to the consoles I have (instead of me having to build a PC to work on the games they create).

Well if Forza 6 Apex it's free, I got nothing to lose, I'll try it (Yes I have Windows 10). I just hope it runs on my laptop.

But I still want to get an Xbox later so I can play Forza Motorsport 6/7 and Forza Horizon 2/3 (Forza Horizon 2 looks interesting, it's set in europe (I've seen some videos and I like the map), and I love Volkswagen which aren't on FH3 :indiff:).

While I don't get an Xbox, I have to stick with Gran Turismo 6 (I know some people didn't like it, but I love it). If it had an livery editor and better sounds it would be almost perfect. Fortunately for me, there are still people playing it, yesterday I filled a 12 slot room and played races with classic cars all afternoon. And with seasonal events/quick races it's easy to get money, I have 37 million and a 400 cars collection :P

I don't think there it has to exist a "war" between GT and Forza fans, both games look great and I would have both if I could.

Overall, it's basically a list of vintage cars from recent games that are now confirmed to return. A bit thin on the ground regarding any new content.

Some comments on a few cars that stand out:

  • 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA Stradale
  • 1968 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale
Both leaderboard cars in previous games, will likely be again.

  • 1969 Datsun 2000 Roadster
Surprisingly good B-Class lobby car in Forza Motorsport 6. Stick the Turbo Rally engine into it and it's a pocket rocket that can escape the grids of public lobbies before the Turn 1 pile-ups ;)

  • 1945 Jeep Willys MB
The king of the lower classes, although AWD isn't as powerful in Motorsport titles.

If nothing else, I'm glad to see the Coronet is back. That was one of the most well-rounded of the old muscle cars in FM4 if you knew how to tune it and didn't go overboard with engine mods. Which is surprising, considering it's a drag-oriented model.

I just hope it gets a bit of competition, The P3, W154 and the Auto Union are all too old. Something like a Maserati or a Cooper, or even another Ferrari from the early 50s would be awesome.

I'm honestly excited to try that MK2 Jaguar around a circuit in FM7, the same with the XR Ford Falcon. I mean, I had some fun with them in Horizon 3, but I always enjoyed cars more on a closed circuit without traffic around.
