Forza Motorsport 7: Specialty Dealer

That's fair. It's just frustrating that the Racemo is a fun little unique sports car, but it got beaten by the Charger which has already been in the speciality dealer twice (thrice?) and the Huayra which is essentially an inferior version of the Huayra BC which is already in the dealership to my knowledge.
It would't be so bad if they weren't in the same bloody division. Heck, ALL of the Paganis are in the same division.

I don't have any money saved up for this week's specialty dealer reveal. Sounds like I won't need any.

People complain about not having new cars in the specialty dealer so T10 makes a poll asking what car they want.

46% vote for a car which has an unlocked variant in the game and in the same class.

32% vote for a car which has been made available in both the specialty dealer and leagues.

21% vote for a car that has no other version and has yet to be made available.

Can you really criticize them for not paying attention to the community when that is what happens when they do?

To be fair, there are over 100 locked cars, they could easily have picked some that were closer equals to the Tamo :P

But yeah, I felt the same way about one of the last bounty hunter polls. The VW Corrado was one of the options and there were a ton of people replying basically saying they didn't want "some boring old VW". Can't remember what the other options were but the obvious one won the vote.

"Genuinely unique car? Boring. Give me the Forza Edition of a current 2.0-liter turbo hot hatch readily available in the game."

Of course they could have but I have a feeling those 3 cars were specifically chosen as they seem to perfectly fit the scenarios I posted above.

I think it was either an attempt to get a feel for what the community actually wants or some of the people at T10 are bored and decided to make a bet on what the outcome would be.

Oh, if only someone had devised a better mechanism for releasing those locked cars... like making them rewards for accruing daily mileage or something...💡

That mechanism doesn't do anything about repeats though.

I don't care if they lock cars away and you need to do a competition to unlock them, just as long as they stop giving us the same cars over and over and over... I've had 3 different 911 GT3 RSR by now, I don't need that many.

I'm with you on that one. I thought the exact same. In a way, it feels like they've experimented with the game to see how the community feels about unlocking cars in the game. Depending on how the community feels, will depend on what we could see in FM8. Just a thought.

I received the Platinum Collector award a week or two ago, so I have over 700 different cars, and I have faithfully purchased every single car in the Specialty Dealer each and every week since release date. I must have at least 60 or so doubles or triples of cars. And yet there is still about 50-60 cars that are locked. I shouldn't have to wait for the repeat Specialty Dealer Cars to recycle, And why? To let others who bought the game 3 or 4 months after I did, "Catch Up"? That's baloney. I shelled out the 100 bucks for the Ultimate version, so I could get all the cars up front. Now, "locked content" is being weened to me at the pace that the developer says is fair. I am not throwing a tantrum, saying I WANT ALL THE CARS NOW! I'm just saying "Keep it Fresh" Turn 10. How about surprising us all, and release all the Toyota, Lexus, and Scion cars that we're missing. No? Well it was worth a shot!

If they do this in Forza 8, then goodbye to a whole lot of fans. This system is not working and it is causing a lot more anger and confusion then is needed.

I bought the Huayra even though I already have the 2 from Totino's. I really need something to spend credits on.

Pretty sure that will happen no matter what T10 (or any developer) does. If the internet is good at one thing, it's making an ant hill look like Mt. Everest.

This fiasco just makes me miss the system used in Forza 1 and 2 so much.

Have a car locked behind each event, which gives players an incentive to do every event in career mode outside of completion’s sake. Players can also unlock the cars at their own pace instead of waiting for the content already in the game to become available whenever Turn 10 says so.

The Specialty Dealer is just a gimmick and honestly doesn’t improve gameplay, especially with how poorly it’s been handled.

I hope that the whole “unlock this car from its showcase event” deal is a small step in the right direction. I loved the way FM1 and 2 structured their unlocks, because as you said you can still pine over that one dream car, but the only thing stopping you from getting it is you.

I liked FM1’s setup where you picked a region and there was a few cars exclusive to that region. It would make the AH more interesting as well.

IIRC once you won a car it was unlocked for purchase as well, which was nice (I could be wrong as that was a long time ago).

God, I would love nothing more then to have the region set up return for Forza 8. Especially considering there's a large enough car list that can make it even more viable then it was in FM1 and 2.

I mean, ask the vast majority of fans, and I can assure you that 99% would prefer the system in place for Horizon 3 where no cars are locked away artificially at the launch of the game, and there's actually a very consistent and understandable way to unlock them.

And I would be one of them (granted not carrying over blueprint is a bigger blunder). I was just pointing out that the internet will blow anything out of proportion and make something sound horrible even if it isn't that bad.

Take today's Twitter poll for instance. There was quite a few people complaining about T10 just repeating cars and not caring about what their fans want on a post asking which different car they wanted. Said fans went on to vote for the most available locked car in the game (Charger) over one that hasn't been available at all (Tamo).

And now let's take a trip back in time and look at how many people complained that some cars were only obtainable via Forzathon and some required to complete some challenges that needed a Gold subscription. The answer is a lot, and a further proof that no matter what you do, people will still be unhappy.

See, people are always going to complain about that, but considering what has been happening over Forza 7's lifespan, I think out of all the options, the one set up by Horizon 3 works the best, with the least amount of problems or complaints from the community.

Upon the usual request:

2009 Ferrari 458 Italia - 350,750 Cr
2012 Pagani Huayra - 1,610,000 Cr
2005 Subaru Legacy B4 2.0 GT - 32,775 Cr
2005 TVR Sagaris - 241,500 Cr

2005 Subaru Legacy B4 2.0 GT - 32,775 Cr
The Subaru fanboy in me was so excited to see this that I ignored the other cars. But also because I don't have the CR to buy the others after getting a P1 GTR in a recent level up reward.
