Indeed. I've owned three and I had no idea that the plastic rear bumper and plate surround, aluminium boot lid, and steel body were all made of the same thing, that the light units were literally watercolour-painted mirrors, or that the wheels were made from modelling clay and sprayed with silver Plasticote.

Live and learn, and all that.

(although that is by far the worst-looking car in the whole trailer)
I didn't say that they looked like the real thing, only said it looked significantly better than FM7 ;). But yeah the accuracy of some of these models is still off unfortunately.

devs talking mainly about graphics is a red flag imo. Less tracks means probably less career content as well. It's a shame that gran turismo and forza are becoming like these graphics demo to showcase the power of new gen consoles. Few years ago there was some rumors that the new forza will have 50+ cars on tracks and advanced AI and pit stops animations to create these realistic endurance races with full practice and quali.... so far I haven't seen any of that . So disappointing ngl
It’s just what console racing games became. They need amazing graphics and hundreds of licenses cars to show off console power and get amazing reviews by gaming media that plays it for an hour. Most players don’t bother with wheels or learn how to race properly to appreciate the physics model.

another thing that takes the realism away is how they have group c cars race against 90s lmp and modern lmp1s or road cars racing gt3 cars like even gt7 does less of that

Forza Motorsport has been built to take full advantage of the Xbox Series X|S consoles. A: Everything you saw in our Forza Motorsport Developer_Direct video is work-in-progress.

Q: Will Forza Motorsport be available with Xbox Game Pass?

A: Yes, Forza Motorsport will be available with Xbox Game Pass.

Q: Does Forza Motorsport on Xbox Series X|S feature ray tracing?

A: Forza Motorsport features real time ray tracing on track.

Q: How does ray tracing work in Forza Motorsport?

A: Ray tracing bounces rays into the scene and does thousands of calculations to give us true reflections. Real-time calculations of this magnitude weren’t possible on previous generations.

Q: How does ray traced global illumination improve the visuals of Forza Motorsport?

A: When we apply ray tracing to global illumination, we are simulating how light accumulates color as it bounces from surface to surface, so a barrier next to a red rumble strip will be influenced by that color, creating a scene where all the pieces are connected.

Q: What does ray tracing mean for Forza Motorsport players?

A: Forza Motorsport players can look forward to the most beautiful and photorealistic visuals they’ve ever seen in a game, optimized to leverage the full power of the Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC hardware.

Q: What is convolution reverb and how does Forza Motorsport utilize it?

A: Convolution reverb is a hardware-accelerated technique enabled by Xbox Series X|S. It accurately reproduces how sounds interact within an environment to create a realistic and detailed soundscape. We also partnered with Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos to create a more immersive audio composition for Forza Motorsport.

Q: What is a spectrophotometer and how does it improve cars in Forza Motorsport?

A: We have sourced our car paints using a spectrophotometer to capture multiple data points of light behavior on a surface. This produces a paint model that has a much more realistic light response across colors, metal flake and gloss levels.

Q: How does Forza Motorsport perform on Xbox Series X|S?

A: Forza Motorsport runs at 4K 60 FPS on Xbox Series X; and on 1080p 60 FPS on Xbox Series S.

Q: What markets will the game be available in, and what are your localization plans?

A: Forza Motorsport will be available where Xbox games are currently sold. We will be announcing localization plans at a later date.

"Each ... featuring multiple track layouts".
Then lists Spa and Laguna Seca in track list. Hmmm... 🤔

Not gonna lie, its hard, so far, for me to see where the 6 years have been utilised (since it seems like a late 2023 release)...

That has sadly been a reoccurring thing for years now. You'd think with a greater emphasis on motorsport, they'll tone it down w/ the addition of more motorsport vehicles to flesh out each class.

Reduced car amount too like GT7 (compared to FM7), though not that much, but now the number's closer to GT7...

I hope they show more cars

Why are there different classes of cars together?

Looks nice, but all the raytracing in the world can't fix bad underlying art direction and shader settings. Still has funky looking 360 era car models. 20 tracks is gonna feel stale real quick. I'm assuming all city tracks are cut because those take the most amount of time to make. Not sure where the 6 years of development went, same as with Halo Infinite seems like the studio was chilling for years doing nothing and then thrown together a quick game in the usual 2 year window.

Are you seriously comparing those M3 pics when the games shot is just insane blurry ? Wow really awesome comparison. Congrats 😂

Zero effort at all just to talk bad about the game. Why ? 😵
I'm just sayin', some of these models are old and janky and they already identified it. They're legitimately bad. They are not 'blurry' as you say it is.

Overall underwhelming, just a bunch of nonsense about graphics and bold claims that really only casuals fall for. Not saying the game will be bad though, just that this "trailer" or whatever you want to call it really doesn't give us much. While some of those features are "neat" they don't actually add much to the title. Like the local loudspeaker commentary thing... I've never played FM7 and thought "huh you know what this game needs? Some guy babbling German at me that I can only hear in the pits at the Nurburgring" and while it's kinda cool I guess, it's just not the kind of thing that will have any effect on how much/little I want to play the game.

The location count is a serious hit though, unless they are planning on reintroducing tracks every other month with DLC or something. I get that they are harder to make than cars, but as far as content goes I feel they really add more longevity to the game than another pack of 7 (or whatever they will do this time) cars does.

On the car front, it really has felt like Forza has been a generation behind on all of their racecars for a while now, and the fact this one is going to focus a bit more on race cars is going to make it even more obvious. I get that it can be very hard to get their hands on the updated/evo race cars, and licensing is always a complication, but it's still kinda disappointing to have so many obsoleted cars, and knowing when a cool version of a race car comes out we probably won't get it for 3 or 4 years, if at all. It's funny we are finally going to get the DPi things after the class has been retired, but hey maybe Forza 9 will bring us a pair of LMDh/LMH models.

It slipped out that there was a vintage version of Laguna Seca in the beta test, so we can hope there is a vintage long version of Spa as well.

Expected far fewer cars than 500, but far more tracks than 20. Don't exactly know how to feel about that. Just hoping they compensate by adding far more post-launch tracks than FM7 did. I recall T10 saying it was easier than ever to make tracks, so I figure on there being an abundance after release.

They just better not bring back the missing circuits from FM7 as "new" content the same way FH5 does with cars from FH4.

Using 360 assets is disappointing. All the graphic jazz yet the it look a bit funky because the car models still looks the same.

I knew something was off with the Countach, it looks like a kit car more than the real one. They REALLY need to update the car models.

Though saying it looks like vanilla GTAV from 360 era is a bit hyperbolic.

More talk about graphics than gameplay. I don’t care one bit about ray-tracing.

Couldn’t agree more. Graphics are fine. But good graphics don’t compel me to play FM7. I’ve played more 360 era FM then 7 during its lifetime. Talk about the gameplay. Expand on the single player campaign. Sell me FM. Give me a good reason to upgrade my Xbox.

Think I've seen enough to decide against buying the game. I'll try it on game pass if I still have that by the time it releases, but there just isn't enough to show for 6 years. Maybe my time trying it in game pass will change my mind.

I was fine with a reduction in car count until I saw that they were still recycling cars anyway. If having a little more than half the car count of FM7 meant getting rid of old models, sure I get it. But instead we get less quantity while still being fine with old standards of quality. There isn't really a quality over quantity argument to be made. If you're going to recycle, take as much as you can.

The wording of "new to Motorsport" tells me many, if not most, will have already been seen in Horizon 5. Only having 100 of them, after nearly 6 years of development, is a rate of 16.6 per year. Say only half are actually new to the franchise, and it's even worse. Less than one per month. I thought Polyphony was bad, but they're still doing better averaging 3 per month, or 36 per year. Even then, most of what Polyphony is introducing isn't just the same model we had before.

What a shame. I had so much hope. 6 years, for this. I hope the engine and physics work were worth it.

No no no I MEAN it, just how white and yellow cars under the sun look stylistically like GTA V i mean go to GTA V now now

I was talking about your post #802 but thx for adding a bit better pics later. But still from videos with a lot compression.

Why are we already complaining about the game ? Why not wait until we see it on our screens and can take 4k screenshots and then compare it ?

This whats going on here today just makes zero sense to me.

but there just isn't enough to show for 6 years
Ah ok so they already showed everything they have ? I must have missed this.

Another post i can completely not understand.

What is going on with gamers nowadays ????

Because we already see it. Video compression isn't hiding the perfection in the obvious flaws. What we see is exactly what it is: recycled 360 models.

They've already shown us what to expect. Less tracks, and less cars with many still being old models. The new tracks look good, sure, but then you put 14 year old car models on the tracks and I can only wonder what the point is. Why focus so much on graphics, just to half-ass it?

Yeah I was excited to see this, they said this is a reboot or something but yikes. They don't even talk about or show the physics much, just graphics but come on, reusing assets from the old games is a unacceptable especially when it comes to the car models IMO.

The 190E comparison from pages ago is just insane, FM4 looks a lot better!

There appear to be instances where ray traced reflections are completely absent. It's especially highlighted in this clip where one car clips into the side of the "SS" Camaro. There are no reflections present outside of a basic cube map.

This forum is not better than the Forza forums. Complains complains complains and people that think to see imperfections of cars with their naked eyes in some videos. Superman style Über Humans :D
Do you... need your eyes checked? Genuinely. People go about their lives not realizing they'd benefit from glasses.

Yes, we can see imperfections with our eyes. Especially in the head/taillights, which are heavily flawed. One of the first things I noticed when I played GT7 was how much better the lights looked there compared to any Forza game.

I've grown to strongly dislike GT7 but one thing I will always praise them on is the attention to detail in their cars. Forza, with its models that are being reused as far back as the original Xbox from the first Forza Motorsport, comes nowhere close.

Remember when people were upset about GT5/6 using PS2 models? PS2 is the same generation as Xbox. We're now seeing those models still reused. Not as much, but that it still happens at all is an issue.
