I'm quite hyped for the Australia Month update following the amount of ATCC mods that I've been playing in Assetto Corsa, though, I think the main empahsis in the racing portion of it will be the more recent V8 Supercars (ZB Commodore, Mustang, Camaro V8 Supercars).

Here are my possible guesses for other cars that can be added in the Australia Month update:
  • 1984 Nissan #16 Bluebird Group C
  • 2011 Ford #5 Ford Performance Racing FG Falcon V8 Supercar
  • 2011 HSV GTS
  • 2008 HVS W427
  • 1967 Ford Falcon XR GT
  • 1971 Ford Falcon XY GTHO

Just give me the 2 gen3 cars and a bunch of group A cars into my veins and I'll be a happy man.

I think the Australian automotive update should be packed with at least a dozen cars. The two newest gen v8 supercars from Ford and Chevy are obvious choices, bring back the Erabus E63 and Volvo v8 supercars from the 2015 gen, I would say four classic V8 supercar additions like the Nissan R32 or Nissan Bluebird etc. And then a few picked Holden and Ford sport and classic cars.

hey guys

had been playing the game by myself in silence for a few months now

i am totally suprised that T10 maneged to get NASCAR licence, knowing that iRacing has exclusivity, it should had lot of negociations and lot of stuffs

i wish it means they can get more stuffs from iRacing like the 86 Cup, Clio Cups or even Brazilian Stock Cars or Formula 4s

This might be a theory why Turn Ten cannot add extra livery variants to the NASCAR vehicles, instead only remaining with three generic liveries.

Nice surprise, but the way this update rolled out was weird. Updates usually come around 10am for me, I checked at 10:30 and there was no update, and my download queue didn't say it had installed anything. I checked again at 3pm, no update listed as available, nothing in the "recently updated" section of the queue. Fired up the game at 4pm and it worked like normal, drove the NASCARs and TA Beretta a bit before my league race, but still nothing in the recently installed section. Checked again around 11pm and finally it showed it had recently installed something for Forza.

Especially weird since I've had to do the pause/resume trick to get the download to start for every patch since April...

The NASCAR stock cars drive surprisingly good, like I kinda don't believe they actually handle that well. I'm not saying I think they should handle bad or anything, but it was surprising how comfortable they were at some sketchy places like the Climbing Esses at VIR (comfy flat) and well, all of the Nordschleife.

Some interesting changes in this update.

Tuned car-to-car collision response for more physically accurate energy dissipation. This reduces the impact of small collisions and allows for more stability and control.
Didn't really notice any difference here, but it appears bump drafting still does not work which is pretty disappointing. You can occasionally get a bump when speeds and/or lag is just right, but not with any regularity... Which is weird, as it worked with slower cars like the Ginetta Junior back when we got it, then they broke it (for the June update I think?), then they fixed it (for July and August update), then they broke it again (September update), all unmentioned in patch notes so we have no idea if it was intentional or not.

Updated the multi-car aero model to reduce downforce impact on leading cars, widen the aero wake near the car, smooth transitions near wake edges and reduce drafting induced aero balance changes. (Update 13)
I know this was mentioned as an Update 13 change, but after doing a league race tonight in Ginetta Juniors at Hakone (draft sensitive car at a drafty track), it appears they have tweaked it some in this update as well and reduced the strength of the draft a little bit. Kinda mixed on this change, it was a little strong before but it was kinda fun like that. I wish they would just make it an option when setting up a lobby, like "Draft level: Weak/Normal/Strong" or something.
Returning to track: when a car goes off track, they will be ghosted to prevent collisions caused by unsafe re-entry until they have returned to track and reached a minimum speed threshold.
This is probably an overall positive when it comes to dealing with the brigands in public lobbies, but now players will never learn how to properly rejoin and will just drive out in the middle of the track because "oh well I'm ghosted." People are generally stupid and don't learn anyways I guess though so yeah I suppose it's positive. Will have to see how they un-ghost though before we know for sure I guess.

Autosaved tunes no longer apply to a player's tune save limit.
This is big. It's kinda dumb a game with 500+ cars launched with less than 500 spots for tunes when you can't avoid/control autosaves... but at least it's better now. There are a lot of people who had long been up against the 450 cap who will have some new freedom.

Fixed an issue on Mugello and other tracks where hitting curbs could cause sporadic, uncontrollable spins. This would occasionally occur when one or more tires rapidly accelerated or decelerated while unloaded during cornering.
Big win, if true. It was a bug that was actually present at a bunch of tracks, although it wasn't very common in some cars and quite common in others so we might not know if it's truly fixed until we spend more time with it.
By all accounts a bug, but one of the funniest ones I've seen, you can now step outside the showroom/garage and take pictures!

Wait, are those the cars of the update???
Harmless, so I imagine they will fix it quickly, sadly. For photographers, I'd suggest taking advantage of it while you can as you can now take pictures from angles you couldn't before, so you can better utilize the triple car bay:

What a great update! :) it honestly surprises me how they add all 3 Gen 7 NASCAR Cup cars in one update, and I really hope this is what they will do with other series, such as IndyCar and Formula E, too. Nice addition of the Mazda B09/86 as well!

One year in, it starts to feel like they have managed to turn this game in the right direction and next month is promising too :)

How is it that you’re able to drive the NASCAR cars already? through a custom race loophole or something?
Theres a few videos on YT and how-to's on this forum but basically you go to freeplay-advance settings-pick any car- set settings to test drive-pick any track- start race by crossing over start line-pause and exit to event settings-go over to cars tab- select any car you want including cars not playable yet and it should load right up.

Still no RTGI 😔
At this point, I don't think it needs it. I'm running the game on PC with RT reflections/AO (AO setting on medium) and even with the recent graphic improvements I'm seeing a steady performance (77 fps on the benchmark @ 1440p with 150% resolution scale but in practice 80-90 fps in race is common) and denoising of the image has improved. And certainly, the consoles could not handle it.

The last three times I've tried to play (twice before the update and once after) the Xbox app has locked up at launch. I click it and it brings up that initial black and orange screen and just sits there. I have to cntrl+alt+del and relaunch it. Last night after I finished playing, the game would not close back to the desktop. I got the "is not responding wait or close" message so I closed it from there".

Of course it needs it, did you see how amazing the screenshots @turk1993 posted looked?

They also promised it was coming

I saw them, very nice, but not gameplay essential. It wouldn't be the first game that defaults on features/graphic performance... And the consoles just don't have the hardware. And on the PC side of things... RTX 4080-4090 users?

Of course Xbox cannot use it, but T10 promised it would come to PC. Of course it's not gameplay essential, but with that viewpoint we could say all graphical features afte Forza Motorsport 4 aren't gameplay essential. Devs always want to push on and improve fidelity, RTGI is a huge leap, we should want it to come and not give them excuses

we dont know yet beacuse the cars are not unlocked to buy until tomorrow, if this happens would be new for franchise and surely would be a hell of a polemic point both for NASCAR and Forza, also has the possibility that it can happen beacuse there has a lawsuit among NASCAR vs some racing teams happening as we speak

FM4 had the cars in manufactores schemes like this. but they were customizable

But I don't see any work in trying to expand Nvidia's technologies in the game (since I'm not an AMD user right now, I can't comment on how things are on their side). We only get DLSS/DLAA and currently is not very good, due to very visible artifacts in motion and no sharpness slider, and for RTGI you would ideally use ray reconstruction to denoise and frame generation to compensate for the considerable performance hit.

Yea their DLSS/DLAA implementation is the worst I've ever seen in a game since the DLSS 1.0 days. But their RTGI will work with AMD cards too, it's not Nvidia specific. Ray Reconstruction would be nice but I doubt they'd include it. Honestly I just want this game to look as amazing as possible, it's already come a great way since launch.

This is better than the “10 identical car models with liveries” approach as you now only need to make 1 tune, and all the liveries for a car are located in the same place.

doesnt people tend to use custom schemes and the most used scheme doesnt stick to your drivatar?
at least when i play FM it happens, actually is one of the things i like the most about new FM instead of have everyone with the same paint scheme/car colors

i asummed people couldnt paint the cars lol
anout why they decided go with FM4 aproach vs team schemes, NASCAR gave the paint scheme licences to the teams and it must be negociated with the teams, this why LEGO NASCAR, for exemple doesnt have any real team on it, also is a point of polemic aming the fans that want those products to use real teams (also is part of the lawsuit i had mentoned early today)
