But the focus on the actuall racing and all the other racing related stuff is the part of the reboot. Its not just a pretier FM7 with more polish. The main focus of the game changed from car collector to actuall advanced racer. Thats what they meant with rebooting the serie, they always wanted to keep the Forza identity. Even the improved physics will still have that Forza feeling as they described.

Considering most of the road cars are still going to have the same basic visual customisation and will still be a core focus, its been looking more like a rehash instead of a GT Sport style reboot.

I haven't played the previous Motorsport games or studied the car lists, but here are some hard to notice cars from the trailer. Overall, the trailer didn't really show anything new or groundbreaking.

The main thing is that there's no more major, obvious graphical glitches unlike the previous trailer.

It looks good but I think Tuesday will reveal much more important things than the trailer. Hopefully Series S gameplay is shown because I'm skeptical about how well it will run.

Same. I was very impressed with what I saw. It looks very clean in the menus and, one that Forza fans long since complained about, pit crews! Don't know how one would think this "looks" the same unless they were expecting a revolution, as perusal. Can't wait to hear more! At least it defeats FM7 in polish alone. Ahhh, so refreshing to have a brand new Forza Motorsport finally come out soon. About time GT7 got some competition as it was

if they haven't overhauled their PI rating system in a big way then get ready for more of the same chaos online. It's all well and good adding penalties etc but if someone in the lobby is driving a 1000hp box that has never seen or heard of this mythical thing called 'a turn/corner' then good luck getting out of the maniacs way.

Cars need to be grouped correctly and not just by the PI limit

I hope they've done something about it ,and i know we can't be sure yet, but looking at what's been shown it all looks identical to what's been before. That's what i meant by 'it looks the same'

In 6 years of development i was hoping for something a bit different. Here's hoping they've done a lot to improve the racing.

That reason being it's a reboot of the series - and not a sequel, which is why it's not called Forza Motorsport 8 - according to T10/MS.

With that in mind, I don't think you can be too harsh on people who were expecting something a bit more... rebooty and a bit less polished-FM7.
Could it still include a remaster of all previous Forza Motorsports 1-7 games, that they're keeping a secret, for those of that missed them on Game Pass?

No matter what is put in place, chaos will still happen because humans just suck and don't actually care about actually racing when playing racing games.

Seems incredibly unlikely, as the expiration of licensing agreements is almost certainly behind those games all vanishing over time.

If they want to sell any previous FM title in any form - even as a remaster within another title - they need those licensing agreements to be in place.

Agreed, but T10 should group the cars correctly and not use the PI limit as a rule to what can and can't enter a race.

The difference in acceleration and top speed vs other cars is ridiculous and causes chaos, even if the driver is clean, as it's nigh on impossible to predict what they will do or when they will start braking

Forza don’t Show anything unique for their brand. GT has moon over castle and makes an identify for the brand. Forza is still one racing game out of others
What about the GM intro today or Top Gear featuring in previous games? Many people still fawn over the intro to FM4 like any song from GT.

Looks the same as every other forza to me, at least based on what's been shown so far.

Same home screen and options, same pre race cinematic, same PI system, same upgrade options, it's just the same but looks nicer.

I hope to god T10 are holding a lot of stuff back we're yet to see but so far underwhelmed is an understatement.
I didn't know we had a three car garage home screen in Forza 7, in fact; the home screen looks absolutely nothing like the one in Forza 7. I don't think anyone expected the PI system to change.

Pretty sure I'll be hitting the biggest pre-order bundle. I like what I see personally & this franchise has left me satisfied after each game at the end of the day, as its perfect to just pick up, race & mess around in. Still really hoping Horizon's advancements/introductions are carried over given the studios' interchangeable assets.

It is amazing how you managed to decide all this based on a cinematic trailer. The home screen looks totally different, PI system has been in place since Forza Motorsport 1, PI system also didn't decide classes in FM7, car class did (was ruined by homologation, not PI, no sign of homologation from what I saw in the trailer), pre-race cinematic wasn't really shown, the grid overview bit was new if thayt is part of it anyway, haven't seen enough of the upgrade options to tell how much is new but there were clearly more options (only so much you can do to cars anyway).

Tuesday will show us more, hopefully in terms of actual gameplay. Then you'll have the real answers.

I've been cautiously optimistic for Forza Motorsport since it was announced. Forza Motorsport 7 was pretty underwhelming which I'm assuming is why they're taking their sweet time with this one.

That being said, I pray T10 don't screw up as badly as Polyphony did with GT7. That poorly designed disaster of a game essentially killed Gran Turismo for me and so many others, so I'm really hoping Motorsport can fill that void of a fun, expansive track racer.

When exactly did Forza get rid of race settings?

Can anyone shed some light on when this happened because apparently it did at some point.

What i meant was it's basically all the same options that have been there since what, FM3????

As for the PI system, i think a lot of people were hoping T10 would just get rid of it and come up with something new. It's terrible and doesn't work

Maybe it's just me but in 6 years of development i hoped they could have made significant changes, maybe they have, we'll find out. Right now it all looks very familiar though.

And how often did they get used online?

We literally got driver ratings, fuel loads, multiple tire compounds and race coms... but reeeeee UI looks to familiar lmao. Get your priorities straight.

Forza announcing a gm partnership right after GM had multiple podiums at LE man is nice. Actual modern, up to date racecars to some capacity is a big plus. All i'm hoping for is singleplayer qualy and multi class racing and i'm completely satisfied

Q: What is new for car models in Forza Motorsport?

A: To enhance our car models, we have sourced paints that produce a more realistic light response by using a spectrophotometer. We have also rebuilt our materials and shaders at higher resolutions for a cutting edge, ray tracing experience.

Q: With the new car damage, how far will it go, can I expect parts to fall off my car?

A: You can expect damage to be accurately reproduced down to the individual scratches on the bodywork. Currently, we are not planning to have car parts fall off cars.

Q: What is a spectrophotometer and how does it improve cars in Forza Motorsport?

A: We have sourced our car paints using a spectrophotometer to capture multiple data points of light behavior on a surface. This produces a paint model that has a much more realistic light response across colors, metal flake and gloss levels.

Q: Does Forza Motorsport feature any new visual customization options?

A: As shown during the trailer, Forza Motorsport will feature some new aero choices for bumpers and spoilers, as well as new rims, combined with some existing aero and body kit options from previous titles. The selection of parts available to fit will vary on a per car basis.

Q: Does Forza Motorsport feature any new types of performance upgrades?

A: We’ve introduced a ballast adjustment. Once fitted, this part can be adjusted in levels with each adding 100lbs of weight to the car.

Q: What cars are confirmed to be in Forza Motorsport at launch?

A: Check out Forza.net for the list of cars we’ve confirmed so far that you will get to race in Forza Motorsport at release. This blog will be updated over time as we reveal more cars for the game.

Tracks Q&A

Q: How will dynamic time-of-day change the racing experience in Forza Motorsport?

A: Our fully dynamic time-of-day system combines with our realistic cloud formations, track temperatures and weather to create a racing experience where no two races feel the same. That means mastering the car and track combination is more important than ever before with the ever-evolving track conditions changing both the grip of your tires and the overall car handling.

Q: How will dynamic track temperatures affect the driving physics in Forza Motorsport?

A: Dynamic track temperatures give variation to each of our environments and their track layouts. Colder conditions, especially at night, reduce traction and create a more challenging driving experience, while warmer conditions will heat the track surface and increase the temperature of tires, improving traction and corner speeds.

Q: How will “rubbering in” impact the track surface in Forza Motorsport?

A: The buildup of rubber on the track over time increases the overall grip on the racing line of the track surface, especially on corners. This helps prevent a loss of traction or wheel lock-up so you can more easily retain control of your car.

Q: What tracks are confirmed to be in Forza Motorsport at launch?

A: Check out Forza.net for the list of tracks we’ve confirmed so far to be included in Forza Motorsport at release. This blog will be updated over time as we reveal more tracks for the game.

Builders Cup Q&A

Q: Will Forza Motorsport include a single-player mode?

A: Yes, Forza Motorsport features a new car building focused single-player campaign, the Builders Cup Career Mode.

Q: Where can I learn more about the Builders Cup Career Mode?

A: We’ll have much more to say about the Builders Cup Career Mode in our next Forza Monthly livestream on Tuesday, June 13 from 11:00am PDT / 6:00pm UTC following the Xbox Games Showcase Extended. We’ll see you there!

Features Q&A

Q: What sets Forza Motorsport apart from previous Motorsport games?

A: The new Forza Motorsport introduces a completely reimagined car building career mode, a race weekend inspired structure for online multiplayer with new driver and safety ratings, AI-powered Forza Race Regulations that ensure clean, fair and competitive racing, tire and fuel strategy, cutting edge opponent AI with advanced physics, dynamic time of day with weather, new car damage and dirt accumulation systems, photorealistic visuals with real-time ray tracing on-track, and even more that will be revealed closer to launch.

Q: What improvements have been made to the physics simulation in Forza Motorsport?

A: The advancements we’ve made to the physics model are greater than Forza Motorsport 5, 6, and 7 combined. This makes the driving experience more fun and rewarding in the way that the car accelerates, corners, and brakes.

  • Our tire collision model now has 48 times more fidelity. Previously, it had a single point of contact with the track surface and moved at 60 cycles per second. Our new model has eight points of contact with the track surface and is running at 360 cycles per second!
  • Players can choose between hard, medium, and soft tire compounds, each with unique grip and wear characteristics.
  • We’ve made curbs smoother and more natural to drive over, as tires feel the road and the undulation in the curb.
  • We’ve developed a realistic suspension model that is responsive while retaining the “Forza feel” you know and love.
  • Players will need to adapt to environmental factors and how they change the gameplay to make every lap feel different. For example, dynamic time-of-day with weather, rubbering in and dynamic track temperatures affect tire characteristics such as grip, pressure, and wear.

Q: Does Forza Motorsport feature an animated pit crew as shown in the trailer?

A: Pit crews primarily show up in our Featured Multiplayer mode – stay tuned for more info when we talk about pitting and Featured Multiplayer later this summer.

Q: Will Forza Motorsport be able to import all my previous Forza game liveries and tuning setups?

A: We will be sharing that information later, stay tuned.

Q: When will you share details about other features in Forza Motorsport?

A: Stay tuned! In the coming months we’ll be sharing more details on Featured Multiplayer, Free Play and Rivals, car and track lists, PC features and specs, and much more.

Platform / Tech Specs Q&A

Q: Does Forza Motorsport feature ray tracing?

A: Forza Motorsport features real time ray tracing on track. We will share additional details about ray tracing options and platform availability closer to launch.

Q: How does ray tracing work in Forza Motorsport?

A: Ray tracing bounces rays into the scene and does thousands of calculations to give us true reflections. Real-time calculations of this magnitude weren’t possible on previous generations.

Q: Does Forza Motorsport feature ray traced global illumination?

A: Forza Motorsport on PC will feature RTGI (ray traced global illumination).

Q: How does RTGI improve the visuals of Forza Motorsport?

A: On PC, when we apply ray tracing to global illumination, we are simulating how light accumulates color as it bounces from surface to surface, so a barrier next to a red rumble strip will be influenced by that color, creating a scene where all the pieces are connected.

Q: How does Forza Motorsport perform on Xbox Series X|S?

A: Forza Motorsport runs at 4K 60 FPS on Xbox Series X; and at 1080p 60 FPS on Xbox Series S.

Q: How does Forza Motorsport perform on PC?

A: We will be sharing that information later, stay tuned.

Q: Will my wheel be functional with Forza Motorsport?

A: We will be sharing that information later, stay tuned.

Q: Will Forza Motorsport support VR?

A: We have nothing to share at this time.

Q: What is convolution reverb and how does Forza Motorsport utilize it?

A: Convolution reverb is a hardware-accelerated technique enabled by Xbox Series X|S. It accurately reproduces how sounds interact within an environment to create a realistic and detailed soundscape. We also partnered with Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos to create a more immersive audio composition for Forza Motorsport.
