that felt more like a glorified GM ad than anything, hard to tell much from that trailer.
It was underwhelming but I don’t really expect much from trailers anymore. In game footage was just replay angles.

If they still haven’t shown any live gameplay or a single race a month from now then I’ll worry.

I am pretty sure we will see a race in a couple days.

Car Pass only being 30 cars is a bummer. Hopefully we'll see a Car Pass 2 or a strong presence of free cars in updates like FH5.
Since game pass subscribers are so important on Xbox today, they will probably actively introduce exclusive content based on live services in FM8 as well.

I hope such content is relatively easy to reacquire as in GT7.
The large number of exclusive cars and lack of availability in the early FM7s and the totally useless specialty dealers were the features that disappointed me the most.

GT7 was a good example of this balance of content.
Despite its drawback of being very expensive, exclusive content such as used and legendary cars loop in short spans of time, so the opportunity to reacquire them comes around again and again.
And since such content can be purchased as many times as one wants during the sales period, one can enjoy using such spare cars while they are not available.
This user-friendliness of the system is the reason for both the freshness of the limited-time content for users and the variety of cars and specific themed races in the online lobby.

I'm kind of worried about the 'over 500 cars' statement, as a reminder FM7 had 875 cars in total after its lifecycle, so even after removing Alfa Romeo/Fiat/Abarth/Lancia (I'm not optimistic at those coming back...) 'only' 33 are lost.

So let's say the final amount it's 550 for example, and again we account for the lost Italian content, it means that about 300 cars are gone, which is a crazy amount of lost content, so hopefully over 500 doesn't imply the car count doesn't reach 600...

I'm sorry but the GT7 exclusive car system is terrible and did nothing but limit a lot of legendary cars people wanted to drive from ever being obtained.

Every car in the game should be driveable in freeplay and while some cars should be hard to obtain it should be possible to get any particular car in the game by the time you finish your career.

I do not want Forza Motorsport to adopt a system where it could take 20-30 hours of grinding races + luck to maybe get the car you want.

Thank god they are staying away from lootboxes too.

All IndyCar, Nascar and V8 Supercars wont be in the game, 95% sure. Also no SUVs, Trucks, Offroaders, Rallye Cars would bring the car count to 600 or so

THE BENTLEY SPEED 8 IS BACK!! Oh, how much we've missed you!

Well, at least one V8 Supercar has been officially confirmed (#22 Walkinshaw Performance VF Commodore) so we'll see.

At this point is hard to debate that without proper off-road tracks/events offroaders, SUVs and related cars have much sense in the game, but I never minded them either, they were out of their element for sure, but were fun to toss around in a less serious way too, with the usual Forza oddbals such as the Honda Odyssey for example.

The fh5 festival playlist method is already made for gamepass retention, they don’t even do any paid car packs. I could totally see something similar in this game to keep people coming back for a new car every week.

What are you trying to find? The source of the track list or the Nurburgring?

The car and track list from this news cycle can be found here:

The Nurbugring was shown in this trailer at 5:53 (albeit with the cars driving in the wrong direction)

View attachment 1264356

Curiously, they didn't list the Nurburgring as a track shown in the trailer as seen in the accompanying news article

Thank you! Jeez, I'm blind. How didn't I notice the BMW bridge?

Can anyone ID these classic F1 cars?

oh btw

RACE DAY CAR PACK

Race Day Car Pack features 8, new-to-Forza cars built exclusively for the racetrack including high-performance machines like the 2018 Acura #36 Gradient Racing NSX GT3 and the 2017 Vauxhall #66 Power Maxed TAG Racing Astra. Collect, build and race these powerful track legends of motorsport from day one.
Bet that the DPis would appear in this pack.

Wait... the 991.1 RSR exists. And a new livery for the Bentley Continental GT3?

Speaking of the 6 or so cars that I believe were once removed from the car list months ago, I feel that they could be part of the Day One pack.

Here's what I speculate to be the lineup in that pack:
  • 2018 Acura #36 Gradient Racing NSX GT3
  • 2020 Acura #6 Team Penske ARX-05
  • 2018 Audi #44 R8 LMS
  • 2021 Cadillac Dallara #31 Whelen Racing DRi-VR
  • 2019 Ginetta #6 Team LNT G60 LT-P1
  • 2017 Oreca #38 Jackie Chan DC Racing 07 Gibson
  • 1983 Porsche #11 John Fitzpatrick Racing 956
  • 2017 Vauxhall #66 Power Maxed TAG Racing Astra BTCC

Really hoping TVR didn't get super nerfed, I'll be quite peeved if I can't do my tradition of grabbing a Sagaris as my first car I buy.

Yes, you are right too. I love the McLaren F1 but with the GT7 this car is still not owned by me. It is too expensive and if I had the money to buy this car, I would use it to buy or upgrade other cars to get more variety and enjoyment.

I only meant to compare my example to the playlists and exclusive cars in Forza today.

Be that as it may, the most ideal exclusive car system in my opinion would be like removing the regional system from FM2.
Cars and their purchase rights can be unlocked as you progress through the career mode, and for players who cannot fulfill them, there is an alternative called the auction.
There are a few ultra-rare cars, such as the Unicorn, but they are all variants of existing models, so alternative models are easy available.

When combining live services, it would be nice if similar unlocks could be made available by clearing live service events that are added as permanent content, like the DLC for NFS Heat.

Not a lot to go on from the trailer really, but then I wasn't expecting much and personally always found Motorsport series trailers to be pretty bad.

I think the most positive thing in the trailer is that it's nice to see Le Mans is confirmed and that MSG won't be ruining things. Hopefully a drafting model that isn't terrible this time around will make it a more fun track though, and hopefully we get good control over time acceleration so we can do mini 24hr races.

Not sure what there is to take about the menu system. Sure it looks... okay or something, but then I feel like that's how most new menu systems look at first. Even then, how "slick" it looks is only important for what? Maybe the first 5 hours of gameplay? After that you just want it to be fast and easy to navigate. Best to reserve judgement for the menu system until we have really sunk our teeth into the game. A good menu system is still good after months of playtime. I just hope this one runs faster than FM7's menus.

I'm kinda doubtful that all that many cars will have alternative wing options like the Corvette. They know we are sick of the old generic Forza aero, and if they really had that many wings to show off, would they have chosen the Miata with the old generic wing for the earlier trailer thing? Hopefully they will keep adding body parts in though, and it would be cool to see the race rear bumpers with diffusers come back from FM1/2. All those options might just be for new cars added to the series, and I guess they have to start somewhere so it makes sense the new models would have more work and more car-specific options.

Speaking of the Corvette, I really hope they haven't done the Forza thing where they delete the lower performance models and we still get a regular C8 base model and not just the E-Ray.

Not sure who the stupid engineer pep-talks are for, but hopefully we can shut those off or they are just for the trailer or something. Can't imagine anyone thinks those are cool.

I know GTPlanet tends to lean more towards the single player side of things so I will probably get poopoo'd for this, but hopefully the upcoming showcase doesn't just deep dive into the career menus and structure and stuff and instead kinda generally shows how gameplay will go. I think showing how the "race weekends" will go, with some looks at pit stops, options for setting up the grid, rolling/standing starts, tuning, and stuff like that will be more valuable. Those things affect everyone, whether they focus on career, custom single races, or multiplayer.

Can someone help me out?
I've never owned a Forza before. I'm looking at the Base Game and The Premium and trying to figure something out. You have a Race Day car pack and a Car Pass pack. Are these cars obtainable through the base game as it is? Are these packs just a way to buy cars with real money instead of using in game credits? Are these cars only obtainable through buying these packs and aren't available in the base game? I'm confused how this works and searching on the interwebs gives you everything but the answer. lol
I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to spend 30 extra dollars for content that would supposedly be available to acquire in the game anyways. Or you can't acquire it at all without the passes.

They're Day 1 DLC, you can buy them post-launch along with the other stuff but they will end up costing more. If you think you will get a lot of life out of the game it's probably worth it but you probably won't be missing too much with the base game as you can usually just buy single DLC cars if they don't all interest you.
I'm all for post-launch cars but this game needs a track pass more than a car pass. Same can still be said for GT7 really.
Sounds like more tracks will be added, likely via a season setup like Horizon.

  • New career championships and online events will be regularly introduced offering unique challenges, incredible new cars and tracks, and exciting new gameplay experiences for years to come.

But you mean with in game earned credits, not with real money, right? For example, GT7 has every car available in game to purchase with in game credits (not counting the Legendary Dealer crap where you have to wait for it to appear) from the get go.

My understanding is, these packs are a way to access in game content before you would be able to earn it in game? However ALL content will be available in game at some point in time. Sorry for my ignorance, I genuinely have no idea how this works.

They're DLC packs you buy with real money similar to the Lewis Hamilton stuff in Sport. Once you buy/claim them you get one example free from the car dealer after which you can buy more with the in-game currency.

It’s a new game so who knows if they changed, but usually these cars aren’t available otherwise. You’ll only have access to them with real money.

Purchasing the more expensive versions will save you about $10 or so in comparison to buying them separately.

The cheapest option would be Game Pass. (Game Pass will not include the car pass or DLC.)

If your mind is set on buying the game but you're not sure if you care about the extra cars then you can buy the standard version and purchase the season pass and DLC at a later date.

If you want the game plus all extra content, including access to the game five days early, then the premium version is the best to get.

Builders cup thing sounds awesome or terrible, curious. In my head I want it to be be like FM3/FM4. Start out with a 60hp Toyota Aygo and take it as far as you possibly can by turning it into a 300hp works converted monster. THAT'S what made the game fun, making slow stuff get built up and up over time.

However...this builders cup sounds like it could be another failed homologation system debacle that I hated from FM7 as it just ruined choices. That and DLC content cars kept getting side-lined. OR...it sounds like something where you are given a particular type of car that you need to work on and rank up with wins and earn money and unlocks to make it faster and more competitive effectively making it a flashier version of my FM3/4 example. That...yes, that would be a heck of lot more fun!

Last thing, something that has me concerned is the "800 unique performance upgrades". 800? What the hell. That to me smells of a rarity system being introduced so like common/rare/unique/legendary "clutch upgrade stage 1" kind of stuff. Surely not...? Unless they are just doing that thing where it really means out of the 500 cars, each car may have 1-2 special and unique upgrades such as a Mazda Miata Drift...wing...or something.

But it says "earn over 800 performance upgrades" so what...does each car have an ability tree/tech tree now or something? There is no way each car in the game has 800 performance upgrade options. Even if you add all the revisions in GT7 or FH5 it's less than a quarter of that. To me it just smells of a rarity upgrade system, even if each sections of each part had 5 rarities...that' still not 800 so lol help.

Roll on Tuesday. I want to see a lot more, still feels like we've seen barely anything off it.

No animated pit crew in single player mode?
It looks that, since Single Player will have that BIG pit menu so it makes pits a bit unecessary but, i feel would be fun if they had something like GT does with the pit "cut scene"

Its likely that this game will go until the end of generation, thus they droped the numbers, also as people had talked, lots of off-roders and some Fast and Furious editions will surely be dropped and wont even show up, i am sure that is likely that around 100 cars

Also keep in mind: the first Forza game on a new generation always tend to have less cars than before thanks to update in graphics and systems for the game, they need to update each car one by one, even the ones with that old models that part of comunity dislikes

Also no SUVs, Trucks, Offroaders, Rallye Cars would bring the car count to 600 or so

I think that some SUVs and Trucks will be on the game, but yea, rally cars and offroaders are for just Horizon like some racing cars like the Formula Cars are just for Motorsport

Le Mans is confirmed and that MSG won't be ruining things

I was expecting to show up, like indianapolist, the exclusivity doesnt cover the track

I do not want Forza Motorsport to adopt a system where it could take 20-30 hours of grinding races + luck to maybe get the car you want.

Same, i prefer the actual Forza system AND I AM SO GLAD THAT IT IS BACK

The fh5 festival playlist method is already made for gamepass retention, they don’t even do any paid car packs. I could totally see something similar in this game to keep people coming back for a new car every week.

FH5 have a new/returner car and a car they bring back from older FH5 updates each week
That said, i think they will do something similar but less FOMO inducing

Speaking of the Corvette, I really hope they haven't done the Forza thing where they delete the lower performance models and we still get a regular C8 base model and not just the E-Ray.

Put new Mustangs hasnt deleted the older mustangs, i guess the same will go to Corvette, even if E-Ray is faster than those

this game needs a track pas
Track passes are a safe way to prevent any multiplayer activity. Look at FM6s 2 DLC Tracks… so no, tracks have to stay free of charge

I think that Tracks will be free updates from now on, GT and other games had shown it was a better format than put a track as DLC, also gamepass and car DLCs will make the profit they need for the tracks and free updates likely

New career championships and online events will be regularly introduced offering unique challenges, incredible new cars and tracks, and exciting new gameplay experiences for years to come.

Doesnt GT7 works like that as well?

It will be actually like that, the idea it seems that you will be bulding and adapting your car as you rise thru the ranks, i just dont know how they will make the transition to racing cars or if will have championships like in FM4 (i really wish tho)

They know we are sick

I am not sick, in fact i think Forza Wings should continue to be as options alongside the new ones that surely they will put, its likely they will follow FH5 and keep addeing new custom parts as games goes on

Reading this is interesting. It leads me to believe we won’t go back to receiving a new Forza every two years, but rather an ever evolving game where we will buy expansions over time.

Hence "Forza Motorsport"
