There was already an option in FM7 for longer races.
Just goes to show T10 do a terrible job 'selling' their games. (No Cadillac/cover car at Le Mans screenshots?)
Which leads me to the notes for the pre-order/store. It's a mess, repeats the same info so many times.
(I work for a tiny company and no way would my boss let that go through and he would have lined up the showcase and Le Mans date)

I need to see more on Tuesday, as so far it looks more 'PC 3 than PC 2' to me. But to be fair I've never played a truly bad FM. Despite the flaws, there was still fun to be had in FM7.

Nice to see a release date announced.
Much to get excited about, will it be the best Forza ever? Even then it will very likely be a love/hate experience.

One thing this title can achieve is how it is played
Ive always found this title and Gran Turismo were great incentives for people considering upgrading their hardware.

6 Years ago with FM7 we did not have the selection, quality or performance level of "Sim Hardware" we have now.
With PC supported and with current/upcoming hardware. It will be possible to enjoy this potentially in ways we cannot experience Gran Turismo.

PC Level hardware has evolved a lot in display technology too over what the consoles can accommodate.
While tech/nerdy I find this fascinating.

8K 60Hz / 4K 60Hz-240Hz
Dual 4K 32:9 Ultrawide from 60-240Hz (Samsung G9 57" 2023)
Triple Monitors?

Yes it will be prettier / it may sound better too but really how much has the new Forza in game mechanics, challenge or fun to play improved?

I really hope to see (at least one of) the Ferrari 499P, Porsche 963 and GR010 rather than just have the old Toyota, Porsche and Audi LMP1s for my WEC fix. With the Cadillac introduced there's hope, but also its very inclusion may mean we wont see the others...

I've always quite liked the WEC but after this weekend I'm on an entirely new level of interest!

There is an official Le Mans game coming out in December built on the rFactor 2 platform, so you are probably being optimistic there.

IMSA cars will be featured certainly, specially the GTP ones
WEC no chance to show up thanks to Motorsport Games

I was complaining about 'goofy' fanmade liveries just the other day but now I want the 'Rexy' :P and featuring the Iron Dames car would be a nice touch.

Yes of course, I probably should have made it clear I'm not expecting any sort of official WEC branding, but I am still hopeful for the inclusion of some of the cars at least (even without the sponsors and such).

I'm not a PC gamer so don't expect i'll get to play the WEC game (if it actually happens) but we'll see.

I never played Forza Motorsport at all..
How is it with Performance Points does it have the same structure like Gran Turismo Games??
Can you upgrate your Car like in GT7...?
This information is up to FM7/FH5 and may be different for FM8.
The basic upgrade is no different from GT7. However, there are some differences.
  • Drivetrain can be swapped. You can turn your GT-R into RWD or your Enzo Ferrari into AWD.
  • There were more types of engine swaps available for one car than for the GT7, ranging from modest performance engines like the SR20DET to racing engines like the R26B, depending on the car.
  • Tire width upgrades and tire pressure adjustments are available, but no tire compounds such as hard or soft are available. Only single compound tires such as street/sport/race/drag.
  • ECU tuning and power restrictors are not available. Restrictors were available as upgrade parts for some cars, but these were not parts that allowed for fine setting like the GT7.
  • Gearbox conversions are more flexible than in GT: up to FM7 it is possible to upgrade to a 6-speed gearbox regardless of the stock gearbox, and in FH5 it is now possible to choose between 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 speed gearboxes.
  • Body kits and wheels also have a set weight, which affects the PI, albeit slightly.
  • PI is calculated solely from the car's statistics when the part is installed, so tuning changes to gear ratios or downforce will not affect PI.
The general point would be something like this.
Basically, if you are a player who is familiar with GT7, you should be able to adapt to the system without any discomfort.

How about the Updates for the game,
does FM have like Gran Turismo monthly updates where you get new Cars & Tracks...?
At first there will be a Car Pass with a 30-car plan, one every week, then it's likely they'll do the same thing that GT7 does with monthly updates.

It looks good. Nice variety of vehicles, especially some of the newer models. I'm not a fan of the PI/upgrade system or the whole early access / VIP / deluxe version releases (the whole industry is headed that way, if not there already - £70 games are bad enough).

Don't think I've seen enough though, along with the other games in the showcase, to make me buy an Xbox. Not really interested in space stuff like Starfield. Avowed does look good. If they can get xCloud streaming working better I'll probably play it that way. It was just about tolerable playing FH5 on my Mac (via Edge) but I'd much rather play on the TV. Hopefully they get their app working on more devices or release a streaming stick.

The 911 RSR in the Mid Ohio screenshot feels very random. An almost 10 year old car, with no outstanding historic relevance. Was surprised it never made any of the older titles. No complaint though, just an observation.

Am I out of the loop, or is "Eaglerock Speedway" a new thing?
Yes, looks to be the equivalent of the fictional Northern Isle Speedway in GT Sport.

That reason being it's a reboot of the series - and not a sequel, which is why it's not called Forza Motorsport 8 - according to T10/MS.
Will this subforum remove the 8?

They're being very cagey about wheels in the Q&A. Hopefully more info on Tuesday.

Wheel support is typically one of the last things to get confirmed in most games, don't expect an answer until the end of September.

Track passes are a safe way to prevent any multiplayer activity. Look at FM6s 2 DLC Tracks… so no, tracks have to stay free of charge
Alternatively, keep DLC paid, but if the lobby host owns a track anyone can race on it.

DiRT Rally 2.0 does this with all of its DLC.

Will this have UDP ?
Probably won't get an answer on that until the end of September.

I was watching AR12's summary video, and he said that he asked a whole bunch of questions to the developers after the showcase, and while they weren't allowed to announce anything concrete he mentioned that Forza on PC has been doing great for a while now, so they spent extra time on PC peripherals for FM(8).

So you are probably right that exact peripherals and quality of support will come in September, but it sounds at least as though they are taking PC peripherals more seriously than ever.

Premium Add-Ons Bundle includes 5 days early access to the full game, Race Day Car Pack, Car Pass, VIP Membership, and Welcome Pack for $39.99 USD. This add-on requires Forza Motorsport or Xbox Game Pass (sold separately).
Can anyone explain the difference between Motorsport and Horizon add-on bundles, for Horizon I've become used to extra tracks being part of it, entire areas with loads of extra tracks.

Are DLC in Motorsport done differently then, or just this title?

Not sure if it would be worth paying extra for me, for just cars and points. Then be worrying about funding tracks in future if they're not free.

I think this is the first time they managed to get within spitting distance of Gran Turismo's lighting, maybe 80-90 % there, some shots especially at sunset look exactly how GT7 looks. Obviously the cars won't hold up to the same level of detail and shader work up close, but from a distance they look pretty damn close. Obviously the tracks have more trackside detail in Forza, but I'm talking about overall image composition.

The only thing that made me worry a bit was the cockpit footage on suzuka circuit. The wheel had the same rotation as FM7, i just want to see full 360-900 wheel rotation animation. Don't give us that crappy toy car wheel animation again. Thats the one thing that bugs me out in the cockpit.
Absolutely! Totally inexcusable that they still use this kind of gamey and dated animation system.

Premium Edition is available for preorder for EU/EEE-Members (not sure for rest of world but legal to purchase in every EU/EEE store as EU/EEE citizen) for ~63 € instead of 100 € in Iceland (Deluxe ~57 / 90, Standard ~44 / 80, Gamepass Premium Update ~25 / 36 €)

I think its interesting so far out the few trailers and spots we have received I have not spotted any 4x4 trucks, SUVs or offroaders. Which to me I think its mostly appropriate for a motorsport game and if FM wont have any rally or dirt racing included then I dont mind them cutting those because I think the Horizon series has and can continue to expand on that front. I do hope they keep and add performance pickups though like the Raptor R, TRX, and trucks along those lines both modern and classic ones.

FM6 had 2 expansions with some extra tracks.

FM7 had none if I remember correctly.

I expect this reboot to have free tracks just like GTsport/GT7 does it. This is how they present it on the website:
October 10 is only the start of this journey. Forza Motorsport will continue to evolve and expand after its release with regular new career championships and online events, incredible new cars and tracks, and exciting new gameplay experiences over time.""

Do you mean you dont like the idea to upgrading cars, or is it just forza system you dont like,

Interesting that preorders are up on MS Store first. Nothing yet on Steam. Also find it odd they don't have system requirements up yet considering we have four-ish months to wait until release.

Are they waiting on the next Forza Monthly to discuss or reveal system reqs? I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to know ahead of time if I need to upgrade.

Even if you have fast internet the stream maybe stable but the input lag is well behind compared to actually playing on a console that's plugged into the tv, playing a fighting/racing or FPS competitively & you've got no chance, (you maybe ok with single player) I hated it. Slow paced games like sea of thieves or fun party games or rpgs are ok. I can stream through my tv or pc when playing with the kids like this while the wife watches tv, but when it comes to online racing then she gets booted out the living room

I find it impossible to tell when we are just getting natively made-for-HDR games displayed via YouTube as SDR. That defeats like half of the lighting model right there.

I do not doubt graphics is gonna look amazing and with that typical Forza hyperrealistic touch. The only thing I was annoyed about is that they had a perfect opportunity to showcase a "gameplay" when the blue corvette was shown in the cockpit but instead they switched back to the outside of the car showcasing only cinematic/replay angles.

I am very much looking forward to Tuesday to get an actual gameplay and more information that is being kept at the moment.

Overall an amazing Forza trailer graphic and audio wise. 8/10

I played FH4 for a couple of months via Gamepass streaming while I was waiting to be able to buy a Series X back in 2021.

I live quite close to the main xCloud Azure datacenter in Europe and had excellent latencies. It wasn't quite as good as playing on PC or console directly, but I didn't have huge latency issues atall: The game was completely playable.
