Are we talking each player being a Builder (Builder's) or are we talking the Builders as a collective noun here (Builders') 🤔

The cars either feel weightless or are too planted, make up your mind or just go back to the GT7 forum, it's clear you are only hear to knock Forza.
What are you talking about? A theoretical car with 0 kg weight would have no bodyroll and be therefore planted

And by the way, the 2023 Nissan Z has massive amounts of body roll in real life

Was hoping for the promised 'photorealistic' that looked great in early trailers, but now the gameplay isn't close to realism. Cars appear cartoony compared to GT7 (replays) or Rennsport which come close to photorealistic.
Isn't close...looking forward to you explaining why the Earth is flat :banghead:. Whilst it may not be "real" as only real life is real but to say that it isn't close is being disingenuous.

Finally, someone discussing what is important here.
But it's key ;)

Also, i can't believe no one else has picked up the BIG thing here???

Builder's' Cup - built up your car through XP and upgrades.

"Built from the ground up".

Builder's' and Built - that's why they said it so much - it's the whole "raison d'etre" (note the apostrophe - even the French use them properly ;) ) for this game.

I'm surprised they didn't call it the Builtiplayer Mode

Huh, interesting...I suggested something like this a few years ago...

I would rather see car mastery completely re-envisioned as "car affinity" and provide some actual worthwhile-feeling progression. I know people don't like to see stuff locked behind progression walls, but I would love it if certain special things like rare body kits and engine swaps or other cool parts (or even liveries / design options) get unlocked after achieving some amount of miles or victories or something. This way you would actually feel some sort of investment in each of the cars instead of them feeling like anonymous baseball cards and also feel like there is something to actually work for (this feeling is almost totally absent in Forza Horizon).

I still think this is a really good way of doing progression in a collecting-type game like GT or FM. I'm intrigued.

A lighter car will have less body roll and be able to change direction quicker, yes, but a heavier car would have more tire grip and traction in the turns meaning it will turn faster and be more stable than a car with less weight.

But, the suspension being tuned properly would have an affect on this as well.

Overall, what was revealed seems pretty good at first glance. One of my biggest gripes with Horizon 5 was the lack of progression, so it's good to see them take it head on. However, I'm afraid they seem to have gone a bit too far with it.

I think it's good that they're experimenting with different ways to incentivize better driver with the "CarPG" levelling system. However, this just makes the game turn into a big of a grindfest, like most MMORPGs. At the end of the stream, they had confirmed that duplicate cars will start at level 1, meaning you will have to level them up again if you want to have the same car with different parts. Could they not have found a different name for Car Points so they can have a different abbreviation lol?

I am most intrigued by their updates to AI. They say the new AI no longer cheats or rubberbands which is good to hear. However, they didn't show or explain any of the specifics, like how well it performs in wheel to wheel racing, such as cleanly overtaking and defending. If they can get to similar capabilities to Gran Turismo's Sophy AI, then that would be a massive step forward.

But other than that, their emphasis on the "level, build, dominate" gameplay loop is essentially the same as any other game, nothing groundbreaking. In addition, their emphasis on "building a relationship with your car" is just plain weird.

If you're buying it just for Forza 2023, the Series S would be a viable and cheap option. I use mine for FH5 and FM7 and switch out other games (tiny HD). Also, I think the £1 upgrade trick still works for 3 years of Game Pass. I paid about £100 for 3 years of Gold and thanks to Rewards still have 2.5 years left after 18 months of playing 😁
I haven’t had a look at what other games I’d get on XB, but my wife plays a few games on the old XBone. The disc drive on that is stuck. Time for an upgrade anyway.

Did notice at the top it looks like there's scope for more career modes to be added. Would be weird to have the menu like that and not add to it.

Watch some racing on TV, watch solely the gameplay, compare them.

Do the same for some GT7 replays, and for a Rennsport broadcast.

The overall look on this gameplay is well off, and they know it.

So we're talking E-Car-Mony here? 🤔

Watched again - I'm not impressed with the visuals. The reflections on the car body in the in-car camera appear to be cube maps with some kind of SSR overlay and the reflections on the hood cam still look like SSR, the same trick they've been doing since FM2. I'm also not seeing other cars reflected in the Z in the chase cam. Wherever they are implementing ray tracing here, it's not producing groundbreaking visuals. Of course this is early footage, but I would be genuinely surprised if it changed much before release.

confirmation:
Credits for buying new cars
Car Points for upgrading a car (these can be added, removed, switched to another car)
Car XP is earned per individual vehicle, unlocks upgrades (which you buy with Car Points). NB: Copies of a car earn XP separately

Hitting car level 50 with one car appears to reduce XP requirements for other cars from the same manufacturer.

So brand loyalty matters? Sounds neat.

Chris didn’t say “built from the ground up” at all, not even once.
I noticed. I had my drinking game all set up ready and everything :(
This is all sounding rather grindy to me. I hope I'm wrong. I think just like with FM 6 and 7, my decision to buy is going to depend on the car list.
It might be partly down to them needing this game to last, what, 4 or 5 years to the next one? A similar thing (but done differently) is the skills unlocks in cars in FH5. But as with FH5, you don't HAVE to unlock every FH5 skill/FM8 part on every car. And you wont have to buy every car in FM8 to complete the game I'm sure.

People before:
WE WANT MORE PROGRESSION! WE DONT WANT GET CARS LIKE KIDS GET CANDY!

Turn 10:
Ok then guys, here have all progression you could ask for, its so much progression that is now it is like a RPG with Cars, a CarRPG, have fun~

People now:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WE WANT GET STUFFS MORE EASIER, NOOOOOOOOOO HOW ABOUT THE TUNER SCENE? NOOOOOO

People really cant decide theyselfes anymore cant they? it gives me BAD flashbacks to NASCAR fanbase nowadays, first they asked to more Road Tracks and less 1.5 mile ovals on calendar, now that has a bunch of them they are asking to more 1.5 mile ovals and less road circuits...

A friend of mine said that sometimes game devs should stop giving any listen and just try do the game they think it is most fun, i guess he is turning more and more right in moment...

Overall the graphics don't look like a massive nextgen leap, I'd say GT7 and AC Competizione and AC with mods look about on the same level. The car models and poor interior shaders are starting to show their age, in some respects GT7 is pushing more impressive techniques like having dynamic in-car reflections where you see the interior and the driver dynamically reflected in glossy parts, sometimes contributing a color bounce when the seat are bright red for example. Also GT7 has reflections in windshield, side windows and back window reflecting the interior. All done with rasterized techniques, RT would make these things automatic, but this gameplay had no RT aside from 30 fps menu scenes.

^OK, Wich Leadbetter...
It's called "Builders Cup".

WHERE'S THE BASTARD APOSTROPHE?

Actually having it in a game so we can race against is a step forward.

"Built not bought" might just be a contender for the new "built from the ground up".

I suspect the "grind" will get easier once you build up a surfeit of CP and you won't have to build each car from the ground up ground zero with no points to help. Hopefully the manufacturer bonus will also aid in this. If so, then I'm looking forward to taking new cars through their corresponding series from stock and using those series as tools to improve my vehicle instead of having those vehicles and events gather dust in my car bay. It's no Fishermans Fishermans' Fisherman's Ranch, at least.
