I understand. But two things. I don't want anything to get harder and I definitely don't want anything like GT7.
There isn't even statistics in the game. The races come and go. What I'm proposing isn't even somewhat feasible because the races come and go, outside of having a podium placement requirement. With all the settings it could be turned off I would suppose. You can't look back and see where you placed in a race like GT7 because that race doesn't exist anymore next month.
This got a little out of hand. My bad wording. My fault. Whatever it may be.
All I'm saying is that I wish it had more structure and more accountability. It's hurry up and get through these races so you can get to next months same thing.
I don't think the game needs to be more accountable. I think we might have to agree to differ on this score. I believe that ultimately, a player's accountability to progress how they want is up to themselves, at least as far as this game is concerned. People choosing to gain car points solely through driving will make money more efficiently as they end up paying out less.

Perhaps the Challenge Hub could be expanded so that people win cars, money or even upgrade points for completing certain tasks. That'd help players who wish they had a greater variety of things to do.

They introduced drift events outside of the main career which I have no interest. Perhaps in the future they'll do the same with drag events. I sometimes wish they removed the time limit and had a meatier career and a big spreadsheet to tick off. But right now if I run out of activities to complete in the game I'll boot up Horizon or EA Sports WRC instead. Nevertheless I still think I'll be playing this game longer than something like PCars 3 which reached a stage where the races became too difficult for me near the end of the career.

I'm not going to lie, seeing the newest 911 GT3 R in FH5 got me a little salty. There's probably dozens of race cars in this game that are not in FM and this is a big one. I just hope each one eventually makes it into FM. Side note, we get the 911 Dakar in FH5 but not a Huracan Sterrato all this time? Interesting

Same,i was salty yesterday
I do think Porsche did a paycheck for PGG to feature their cars in the update. Track day update ? More like porsche update.

On a positive note it mean the 911 GT3 R would come sooner or later in FM and im still waiting about the Elantra TCR.

Never once did I say that people with disabilities shouldn't be able to play. Not even close.
You did hwoever clearly state that you would prefer a title that could effectively gatekeep to a a degree that they will not play the title.
What I said was that in the whole game, you don't have to win a single race.
And as I said, it's perfectly possible to spend a lifetime racing in motorsport and not podium once, but I also notice you avoided addressing that.
My comment was asking the question, should the whole game be brought to a level in which there is no winning required whatsoever.
Why not? It's interesting to note that, on average, the more sim-like a title is, the less likely you will find 'you must podium/win to progress' mechanics.

It's hurry up and get through these races so you can get to next months same thing.
And this is closer to the root cause of the issue than any requirement to hit a certain place, the fleeting FOMO nature of the events themselves. FM could have a vast library of curated race events, one so vast that where you place in them becomes utterly irrelevant, instead we have events washed away by new ones.

Yes FH5 has an epic car list. I want so many of them in this game.

I still can't believe neither game has a MK7 Golf GTi though! Hang on a sec, neither games have any Golf GTIs after the MK3. Crazy!

Older Forza games had the MK5 and 6 GTIs. These are legendary cars so it's a big omission
Even not being much of a VW enthusiast, this annoys me too. It wouldn't be so bad if we could FWD swap the Golf Rs but that's still not an option sadly.

You can vote for the option here:

Sadly it's not getting much momentum, probably because "fRoNt wHeEl dRiVe sUx tHeY DoNt tUrN" or something.

Yes, it is kind of frustrating that the GT3 R came to FH5 before FM '23, but I'd be very surprised if it wasn't added in an update very soon.

On another note, I finished up the Power Tour yesterday evening, to get the Dodge Challenger reward car.
The last race in the Corvette C8 series was at Le Mans during late evening, transitioning to night.
Has anyone else noticed that since the last update, which made the headlights glow stronger on pictures, it also seems like they illuminate the road better?
Before it was like having a lil' candle in a glass jar and it was very hard to see where you were going.
Now they seem to project a much greater amount of light onto the road, which makes driving during night much easier.

Yes, this update was like "Let there be light" all-around, especially noticeable in HDR panels: headlights, taillights, and track lighting. Also, with raytracing your dashboard lighting becomes a true source of light.

I don't think it was a coincidence that the big night/light update happened the same month as we got the "spooky" challenge and a ton of night races in the Open/Featured Tour, having had very few night races appear previously.

Which reminds me...
Public Service Announcement: As this is only a "3 week month" if you want the Open Tour Trans Am you have to finish it up before next Thursday. The Mustang multiplayer races end then too.

Although the last race of the Mustang Tour doesn't unlock till this Thursday, from what I've read I -think- the next update is this week and possibly the first week of the new tour arrives on Thursday as well.

Judging by the "roadmap" blogpost and the occasional hints elsewhere, I think the next update is due to be another major one.

Popping in here to say--I wouldn't be surprised if the Porsche thing FH5 has carries over to FM2023 as well. It's a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the 911, after all, if Motorsport doesn't get in on the celebration either to make it a Forza-wide collab I'll be incredibly surprised.

A claim that annoys the hell out of me is that a well-sorted FWD car with a good, aggressive diff is more capable than many 'average' AWD and RWD cars. Hell, a good diff on an FWD car will beat out an open diff RWD car most days.

I want to share with you this little video of the last race of the A-class open tour @ Brands Hatch.

It was a rather clean race from the AI, but I have noticed that their actions at the start is always canned, that is, they will repeat if you restart the race. It is until you start interacting with them that they react accordingly, and it is very important not to upset them (too much). Still, it seems they keep getting cleaner over time.

Notice how at 1:41 the Mustang pulls an ass move (brake check) and I get him back at 2:07, with a penalty, but worth it. At 4:50 I feint another Mustang, and it fells for it (they always do) so I get it on the inside at 4:57.

Are we getting update 14 this coming week or is it not confirmed yet? Asking that because it looks like the open tour series ends soon and that usually indicates the next update.

Nothing yet but i do think we can expect something tomorrow.

The update 13 is 3 weeks seems a bit weird. I could be overthink about this but what if the update 14 was about Porsche ? The GT3 R on FH might be a hint and since its porsche 911 anniversary so still a possibility.

It could make sense both games getting porsches on thursday.
Just a hypothesis,i could be wrong.

It's not a bad hypothesis and would provide an explanation for the odd 3 week month in series 13. But there are 101 other good reasons that might explain it too.

I am wondering whether we get the users hub this month, which is supposed to link up all of a users tunes/designs/etc to their in game profile. I think that would be a big update in itself.
I would like it if that also included users Advanced Free Play setups as a way to share those (that would be getting somewhere towards the EventLab in FH5 and would potentially open the game up quite a bit).

There is other stuff trailed in the roadmap which might appear with update 14, and some hints I've seen but won't comment on, that would be popular if they were included.

The livery on the new 911 GT3 R in FH5 is rather generic, based on the factory livery (the older 991 model uses a plain white livery in FH5, while in FM8, it uses the Park Place Motorsports livery).

I'm assuming if it ever comes to FM8, they'll want to use the now-famous AO Racing "Rexy" livery that won the IMSA GTD Pro championship this year... as its default livery.

The irony in the non motorsport sister title getting a brand new GT3 car first actually made me laugh. I’m annoyed too but Horizon getting it first is actually quite funny just because of how illogical it is. It’s so ridiculous I can’t help but laugh. Oh well at least we get to drive around Mexico for the time being and hopefully it’ll drop with the Bathurst update as it was the winning car this year.

Would be nice if they would communicate a little to let us know what the deal is with the next update. I'm assuming it won't be the regular Monday update as they usually schedule a trailer on YT and make a post on Twitter. Maybe another mid-week update? I guess for most people it doesn't matter much but with my league racing tomorrow plus my issues with Forza updates failing download properly since Update 7, it would be nice to know if I need to babysit the Xbox tomorrow to make sure the update starts properly.

While I don't think it will be, I actually hope it's not the same 911 month for us that FH5 is getting. Mustang month also only brought us one model but at least it was different generations that could fit into many different classes and some aftermarket bodykits and stuff, but those 911s would all be in S class or higher and usually don't have interesting modifications, and I don't see a use for the Dakar Rally model in FM8.

If I was choosing 4 911s to get in an update and being somewhat realistic, I'd probably go with (in the order I personally want them):
  1. 935/78 "Moby Dick" - Fits in well with the Group 5 cars like the Greenwood Corvette. Was in FM7 so theoretically less work to add.
  2. GT1-98 - Would fit in nicely with the TS020 and hopefully start building up our GT1 race cars instead of being stuck with the road models. Also was in FM6 so again, in theory anyways, less work to add than brand new scans/etc.
  3. 992 GT3 R - Because somehow people aren't tired of GT3 yet despite it being overdone in basically every sim and sim-ish game out there. Despite my lack of enthusiasm for it, it does belong in FM8 and would be nice to have a current GT3 car for a change.
  4. 992 GT3 RS - People want shiny new things, and I dunno I guess it's cool.
If I was being less realistic, I'd like to see a 1964 911 to fit in with the game's solid selection of mid-'60s cars, and a 964 Cup car and 992 GT3 Cup car to show how the Porsche Carrera Cup started and has become one of the world's premier driver development series, with both Cup cars being added to the "Spec" series rotation with the MX5 Cup/Formula Mazda.

Not a bad or unrealistic selection of Porsche cars and could see those coming into the game. Due to the lack of a twitter or FB post leading up to an update being rolled out, a part of me thinks that this could just be a normal 4 week series and maybe they made a mistake on the open series countdown? Perhaps they will extend it another week once its over around Wednesday-ish? But providing it is true we get an update this week anyway then I could see a Porsche automotive update or any other themed update which I think its something they should follow going forward. Porsche cars I would like to see make it in/return would be;

Porsche 935/70 Moby Dick
911 GT1 from 1998
992 Turbo S
992 GT3 RS
The new 911 GT3 R
Porsche 906 Carerra 6
Porsche 964 cup car
Porsche 908/3
Porsche 911 GT3 Flying Lizard from FM3-4
Porsche 961 IMSA GTX
Porsche 917/20 Pink pig

Some of these is probably a stretch like the 908/3 and 961 but not unrealistic to have in a game like this. T10 has surprised us before with cars we didn't think would make it. But at least some more classes would be covered instead of mostly S-R class cars.

I like the idea of the themed updates, but I'd rather see the themes be about certain eras of racing or types of cars or something, rather than specific models. I guess manufacturer themes could be okay as then we could still get a wide range of car types for different classes and such.

Something like V8 Supercars Camaro and Mustang along with Bathurst, Red Bull Ring with 2001 Audi/Opel/Mercedes DTM cars, Sportsland Sugo with 1998 GT500 Supra and NSX to go with the Skyline we already have and maybe a few GT300 cars, Tsukuba with a selection of Kei cars, Knockhill with a Hillman Imp and Vauxhall Viva and stuff like that (to race with the Cortina and Mini and such), etc.

Unfortunately, it's generally seemed like they feel as though they need to be pretty broad with updates/DLC, so a mix of race cars, road cars, super cars and so on, so we will probably continue getting these disjointed groups of cars... But it's kinda fun to imagine what could be done with a little more focus.

The 908/3 and 961 were both in PC2 so that at least means it's possible to license them. If we are talking just general Porsches, I'd really like to see the 904 back too.

Screw it I'll add on a few more themes I wouldn't mind seeing although I won't list tracks just general car themes that seem realistic and would cover multiple divisions/classes.

Corvette Celebration:

1.Early 1970s SCCA corvette( to compete w/ '74 RSR in game)
2. 1988 C4 Sledgehammer Corvette( that broke speed and power records at the time)

4. C6.R or C6 GT1( return car)
5. 2016 Callaway C7 GT3-R( to race against the other SRO GT3 cars in game)
6. C6 Z06 ( return car)
7. 1963 Corvette grand sport
8.1986 C4 Corvette GTP
9. Probably a stretch but the C8 ZR1

Nissan/Datsun heritage month:

1. Early 60's Datsun Bluebird
2. 1967 Nissan R381 or 1970 R383
3. 1971 Datsun 510 Bob sharp racing
4. Bob sharp racing #33 1973 Datsun 240z( biggest competitor to the '74 RSR and '75 bmw 3.0 CSL in game)
5. 1982 Nissan March super silhoutte
6. 1994 #33 Cunningham racing IMSA 300zx(return car)
7. 1998 Nissan R390 GT1( return car)
8. 2012 Nissan Leaf
9. 2024 Nissan Z Nismo

2. 1966 Jaguar XJ13(FH5 port)
3. 1974 Group 44 Jaguar E type v12
4. 1975 Jaguar Broadspeed racing XJC-5.3
5. 1976 group 44 Jaguar XJS( vintage TA addition)
6. 1991 Jaguar XJS ( from FM7)
7. 2010 Jaguar XKRS GT2 ( from FM4)
8. 2014 Emil Frey Jaguar XK GT3( from FM7)
9. 2019 Jaguar XE SV Project 8( FH5 port)

A Themed update without any doubt if we wanna speculate or fantasize, could be an Australian one when they will add Bathrust.
Return cars such as HSV, Holden or Ford, plus some V8 Supercars (old ones and new ones, like the Camaro and the Mustang).

Forza Motorsport Update 14 Release Notes – November 4, 2024

Forza Motorsport Update 14 invites you to step behind the wheel of next-generation NASCAR stock racers. The American Thunder Tour is where you will experience the advanced 2024 Next Gen NASCAR racers. From Homestead-Miami and Indianapolis to Eaglerock Speedway and Sunset Peninsula, this month is a competitive celebration of oval stock car racing in Forza Motorsport.

Visit the Showroom to acquire three all-new NASCAR racers – the 2024 Chevrolet NASCAR Next Gen Camaro ZL1, 2024 Ford NASCAR Next Gen Mustang Dark Horse and 2024 Toyota NASCAR Next Gen Camry XSE – available as Spotlight cars during Week 1 of American Thunder.

This update also tunes the competitiveness of Drivatar AI for more intense oval racing, and adds rolling starts to multiplayer races – an essential element of the new NASCAR Series in Featured Multiplayer, available to race over the next 5 weeks. While a limited-time event for American Thunder Month, it will also return in the future as part of our Featured Multiplayer Series rotations.

Game Content, Features and Events [All Platforms]

Gameplay Adjustments to Support NASCAR

November is NASCAR month! To celebrate, we’ve made global changes in both Updates 13 and 14 to improve the racing experience across the game, and to make oval racing especially shine:

  • Tuned Drivatar AI on Ovals to have cleaner race starts, transition more smoothly after race start, and to trail more effectively.
  • Tuned car-to-car collision response for more physically accurate energy dissipation. This reduces the impact of small collisions and allows for more stability and control.
  • Downforce reduction for lead cars when drafting was reduced to make it easier to maintain position. (Update 13)
  • Improved Drivatar AI trailing ability especially in braking zones, making Drivatars less prone to rear ending other cars. (Update 13)
  • Updated the multi-car aero model to reduce downforce impact on leading cars, widen the aero wake near the car, smooth transitions near wake edges and reduce drafting induced aero balance changes. (Update 13)
  • Additionally, we’ve added support for rolling starts in Featured Multiplayer. Rolling starts will be enabled for all events in the NASCAR Series in Featured Multiplayer in Update 14. Rolling starts will be added to additional events, where appropriate, starting in Update 15.
This update also refreshes Homestead-Miami Speedway track layouts with new NASCAR branding.

Forza Race Regulations

With Update 14, we’ve pushed a new Forza Race Regulations model with a slight reduction to false positive penalty assignments, and an improvement to severity assignment.

Advanced Ghosting in Multiplayer

Advanced Ghosting is a support mechanism for Multiplayer and Forza Race Regulations to help prevent some key collision or off-track situations from adversely affecting the online racing experience. Players will be ghosted in the following scenarios:

  • Predicted high relative velocity collisions: when an imminent collision between two cars is detected while driving above the speed threshold, the car with the higher velocity will be ghosted. This does not include low-relative velocity collisions like small fender bumps.
  • Returning to track: when a car goes off track, they will be ghosted to prevent collisions caused by unsafe re-entry until they have returned to track and reached a minimum speed threshold.
  • Stopped on track or driving below a speed threshold: cars that are driving too slowly or are entirely stopped and blocking traffic will be ghosted to prevent risk to other cars.
  • Driving the wrong way on track: cars driving the wrong direction on track will be ghosted until they are driving in the correct direction and meeting a minimum speed threshold. This is an existing behavior but has been expanded to include cars at extreme angles relative to track direction and speed.
Experientially, our goal was to use this system to safeguard against egregious collision and griefing behavior, while preserving the physical authenticity of racing where bumping and touching may occur when fighting for position.

  • Fixed an issue where the Rivals Post Race menu would not be properly displayed, and the user would encounter a black screen. [1845974]
  • Fixed a lobby disconnect which occurred when ending a Meetup with Drift scoring options on Sunset Peninsula. [1887663]
  • Fixed an issue where accepting a Private Multiplayer invite while the livery save popup is displayed would cause game instability. [1880246]
  • Fixed a crash which occurred when the player being spectated, or the host, quits the race. [1884897]

  • Improved Drivatar AI pitting logic, especially in Endurance Races. [1820786, 1884711]
Physics [All Platforms]

  • Fixed an issue on Mugello and other tracks where hitting curbs could cause sporadic, uncontrollable spins. This would occasionally occur when one or more tires rapidly accelerated or decelerated while unloaded during cornering. While curbs can naturally affect car balance, this fix ensures more predictable handling in these scenarios. As in real life, drivers should still approach curbs with caution, as they can disrupt vehicle stability.
  • Adjusted track wall friction on Eaglerock Speedway, Daytona, Homestead, and Indianapolis to more accurately reflect physical material properties. [1888599, 1890395]
Accessibility [All Platforms]

  • Fixed an issue where the Drift UI would not meet high contrast mode standards. [1875857]
  • Adjusted the drift HUD to improve contrast ratio. [1870244]
  • Added screen narration to the event countdown timer displayed when UI overlaps occur with the regular timer. [1873944]

    • 2010 Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SV
    • 2019 Lamborghini Sian FKP 37
    • 2013 McLaren P1
We recently shared details about how we updated our authoring techniques and pipelines so that we can fix as many car audio issues as possible. Please read this blog for additional details regarding our approach to future car audio updates in Forza Motorsport.

PC

  • Fixed an issue that would cause the hint text "Camera" to appear during Photo Mode, while using mouse and keyboards controls. [1873842]
  • Alt-tabbing out and back into the game while in the Driving Assists menu will no longer remove controller selection focus. [1855918]

  • Players are now able to move AI Drivatars from one group to another and resort the grid. [1849430]
Career [All Platforms]

  • Fixed an issue where the player would become soft locked if they drove into the pit lane during the First Cup on Hakone. [1883718]
Featured Multiplayer [All Platforms]

  • Fixed an issue where players with a warning or ban history could get their current session into a banned state by going into Photo Mode. [1865162]

  • Fixed an issue where the player would be locked in a loading screen while joining a Private Multiplayer lobby. [1873777]
Livery Editor & UGC [All Platforms]

  • Autosaved tunes no longer apply to a player's tune save limit. [1846128]
    • Developers Note: Autosaved tunes still appear in the game menus, however they do not impact your tune save limit, which is currently 450 tunes. We are actively working on increasing save limits for a future release.

  • Fixed an issue where cars placed in the Showcase Bay would show the incorrect livery. [1877349]
  • Fixed an issue where the loading UI element would not disappear when an item has finished downloading. [1880229]

  • Fixed an issue where backing out of the Car Select Menu from an Open Class Tour will carry the same restrictions over to the Car Select Menus outside of the event. [1873066]
  • Fixed an issue where the player loses HUD information when attempting to resume the game with a controller connected on PC, while focused on a second monitor. [1648491]
  • Fixed a crash that occurred on PC when the file popup module for My Files is shown in a Community tab and the Share option is selected. Also, fixed the file options modal not opening in game options and while saving a UGC item. [1871675]
  • Fixed an issue where the Start Race button was enabled too early after ending a Meetup, which could lead to unexpected behavior in pre-race scenarios. [1889096]

FM2023 getting NASCAR while FH5 gets four 992s. I'm not gonna lie, that is both hilarious and disappointing at the same time--FM2023 gets oval track racing, FH5 gets GT racers.

Here the news letter.
Also they gave a little bit more details of update 15:

Update 15 will be available in December as our last release before the start of the New Year. This next update is called Australia Month, featuring the return of Mount Panorama Circuit – home of the legendary Bathurst 1000 endurance race – and will celebrate the diverse racing heritage of cars from the land down under.

I'm expecting some iconic V8 Supercars, but the 'Godzilla' would also be a welcome addition.
