Just saw this screenshot in the Forza.net forums, if true this would be a fantastic update with the M Hybrid V8 and M4 GT3 :) And interestingly a new to Forza 3.0 CSL (the one in the game is from 1975)
HOLY ****!!! I do believe this screenshot and wow the BMW M V8 Hybrid finalllyyyyy and the M4 GT3.

Just wonder what's the difference between the '75 we have in game and this '76 3.0 CSL? Was hoping for the '77 320i group 5, would have made a lot more sense and it's the same era. Oh well still good to see more modern IMSA machines.

Edit: I also received the in-game update 16 message so that confirms it for me!

Ugh, no mention of bug fixes or further optimizations, especially for PC. I guess some of the current issues there will continue until February (infinite loading screens in some scenarios, random crashes when launching the game).

I don’t understand why those official Forza articles do not list all the cars coming in the updates. It’s always a puzzle trying to figure out what’s new and what’s not.

Steamdb saves the day at least - the cars being added are:

1999 BMW V12 LMR #16 (guessing this is just the other one they first added in FM6)
1976 BMW 3.0 CSL #1
2023 BMW M Hybrid LMDh #25
2023 BMW M2 Formula Drift #91
2023 BMW M4 GT3 #96
2008 BMW M3
2014 BMW M4
2009 BMW M5
2003 BMW M5
1984 BMW M635CSi
2010 BMW M6

Most come with unique sounds and it looks like we have a new V12 LMR sound too.

-The new BMW V12 LMR engine note sounds pretty good
- although the '75 and '76 3.0 CSL race cars look nearly the same body wise there are some small details that are different between the two. The new '76 also sounds way better than the '75 which I wonder if BMW switched engines between those 2 years. The new one also drives a lot more raw and race car like, I'll say good addition after all
-the new M4 GT3 sounds great and handles like a typical GT3 car
- and now the M v8 Hybrid... probably the best car in this update by a mile. Looks great on track, drives the best out of the three LMDH cars we have and sounds excellent. The turbo spool even sounds unique although might be a touch exaggerated since it never sounded that loud to me in person. Can't complain though. All the BMWs in this update sound great, the updated Enzo sounds just like the real thing and the '21 911 GT3 in-car sounds accurate enough.

Sucks we didn't get any bug fixes to go along with this update though. And hopefully soon they give us another long awaited road map because there are a few unknowns that would be nice to know...

Can't really add more to what's already been said. Looking forward to trying the update when I get home, as I'm espescially eager to give the M V8 Hybrid a go.

However, I'm slightly sad that (if I'm reading the patch notes right), several fictional tracks will be losing their real-world sponsors, most notably Maple Valley losing it's Mobil 1 branding. I actually really liked it and thought it made Maple Valley look a little more realistic.

Yes i can confirm for the #16 V12 LMR was from FM6,the car model is better.
The #15 V12 LMR car model was from FM1.

It is a bit disappointing, but I guess not surprising, the office is likely a ghost town this week, last thing you want to do is a release with a lot of bug fixes when everyone's just coming back online for work.

Good to hear the new car's have some good sounds to go along with them. It is a bit disappointing that they hide the GT3 behind an unlock, I don't think the popular spec series should have cars that a new user aren't able to acquire, regardless of whether they are meta or not.

Another mixed bag.

Great car selection and nice to see them bringing back things like the '14 and '08 M3 and not just totally throwing those models into that "not top of the line" void that so many cars in Forza have disappeared into. The '76 CSL is the surprise and a quick lap shows it's fun to drive, but I'm not really sure what it actually adds to the game. I'm most excited for the M635.

Interestingly, none of the cars were actually added to the showroom yet, so I guess we have to wait until Wednesday to buy them. Not a big deal I guess but a somewhat disappointing change. Updates prior to the December update saw the showroom cars added right after the patch, but the December update saw a few not appear until the Wednesday refresh, now it looks like everything is waiting for Wednesday.

I like that the Jordan branding has been removed from Hakone as it always felt cheesy to me, but it's interesting the Mobil 1 branding was removed from Maple Valley. Kinda too bad the NASCAR art got changed in the showroom, seems odd to throw it away, if the assets already exist we should be able to choose which art we want on the walls.

The balance changes are interesting, but until they make them available to everyone in free play and in private lobbies they really aren't significant as they only apply to one hopper that is only available sometimes in one mode. I also really don't like their method of balancing using things we have no access to, like drag, multiplying aero, and power restrictions at values we cannot replicate with in-game settings. It means we can't test/tune on our own time before joining lobbies, tuning calculators don't work properly, and PI/stats for cars are inaccurate for the lobbies.

Will be interesting to try the LMDh balance changes though. The Cadillac is ****ed and is the only modern prototype in the game you can max front aero and min the rear aero on, put 100/0 in the diff, and go 1/40 on bars and still understeer, so it will be interesting to see whether the +16%/-15% aero actually makes it feel like the other prototypes.

The only bugfix being that we can no longer take cool pictures of our garage is very disappointing.

Also, while I like the idea of next month's theme, the fact they didn't mention a track is somewhat ominous, in previous ones they have said "another track is coming next month!" or something at the end. Hopefully it's just nothing, but given how things have gone so far I really don't think assuming we aren't getting one is unreasonable or overly negative. If they just addressed it now people would be disappointed but would get over it by the time the udpate rolls around, but if they say nothing until 20 minutes before the patch is released the community will probably see an outpouring of negativity about it that will sorta be the "narrative" and overshadow the other content.

BMW month and they add BMWs that are highly requested, relevant to the game's meta, have a "wow factor" that lines up with previous add-ons, and are frankly, at this point, kind of overdue.

But hey, that's not to say I'm not a happy camper. The cherry on top would've been the M4 GT3 in the dealership and its place as the FOMO addition taken by some vintage Bavarian metal, like a Group 5 320, or perhaps an aggressively-turbocharged Brabham to go up against the Lotus 98T. Oh, well...

Yes i can confirm for the #16 V12 LMR was from FM6,the car model is better.
The #15 V12 LMR car model was from FM1.
They are literally the same model, tho. As in, if you manage to get your hands on the model rips and line them up in a 3d modelling suite, they line up vertex-by-vertex, with the only difference being that the #16 doesn't feature the central light. The only thing that's different is the livery - #16 featured the Jenny Holzer "Art Car" livery, which I assumed got axed because it was redundant and perhaps a bit too risquée for a developer that regularly censors double-Sierras in its game.

Next month's a "Modern Dailies" update, which is quite easy to speculate given the amount of FH5 cars that are yet to arrive.

Here are my guesses on what cars would be added next month. Theme’s gonna be track-day/high performance spec hot hatches-supercars. Not all of these are guaranteed though. The ones on bold are what I would say are very likely to be added.

FH5 ports:
  • 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
  • 2022 BMW M5 CS
  • 2024 Nissan Z Nismo
  • 2023 Porsche 911 Turbo S
  • 2023 Ford Fiesta ST

  • 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 R
  • 2021 Hyundai #98 Bryan Herta Autosport Elantra N TCR
  • 2021 Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica
New to Forza (speculative):
  • 2021 Hyundai Elantra N
  • 2022 McMurtry Spierling (very low likely)
  • 2022 Lamborghini Revuelto
  • 2024 Subaru BRZ tS
  • 2023 Toyota GR86 10th Anniversary Special Edition
  • 2016 Toyota 86 (Facelifted base trim, not the TRD SE)
  • 2024 Honda Civic Type R

Note to self: Do not compress the FM/FH5 files using CompactGUI. It screwed the updating process, so, I’ll have to redownload everything. And there’s barely any size difference when compressed.
