I think most pad users assign the clutch to A...that way you can push A and B or A and X together to engage the clutch/ shift at the same time.

If A is clutch, where do I put my handbrake.... I'll try it out, but not sure if I need it in this class though.

Maybe Fezz or Marmite can tell you how they do it. I think Hamster uses a pad sometimes too. A good tune will probably make more of a difference than the clutch will in this class though.

When I use a controller, which is really only to take photos, I set my clutch to LB, handbrake to A and my shifts are done using X and B and I use my middle fingers on the trigger for brake, I was thinking of another game with that other non-sense!

Handbrake would go to LB if clutch is A. However I have mine set to Clutch LB, handbrake to A. That way I can finger.... finger.... downshift? IDK :P

And actually I have made a point to myself to only race with a wheel when I'm faster with it. And even then I don't like to race with it when others are around since I cant drive in 3rd person view with a wheel and would hate to not see someone.👍

I'll see what I can post tamarra...

I use the stock controller layout and do the same as Hamster while braking I err......flick my finger onto LB to downshift

I don't use clutch in R3 and up, this means I can brake later and short shift through corners to keep the rear in check

This is my problem with these fast cars...the rear is alllll over the place....I dont use any assists and dont want to either....throttle control is the best thing?????..what do you mean by "short shifting"??

Shortshifting is exiting a corner in a lower gear so you can control the power instead of rev banging into the next gear because you have too much power to control..

Short shifting is changing gear before you usually would, keeping power and torque below its peek allowing you to get on the power earlier.

Say you usually take a corner in 3rd but when you apply throttle all the power comes at once and the wheels begin to spin, take the same corner in 3rd but just before you apply throttle change to 4th and put the power down.

Some cars/corners don't require a short shift but most of the R cars do!

EDIT=====Ok Ill give it a shot...but they dont seem to stay in the powerband if I do that......Ill try it again...Cause these cars are very slippery....but they are fun so I want to figure them out

I have to agree....the car is pretty fun to drive. Mind you, I can't drive it fast because it's a bit too slippery for my skill level, but still fun. I'll come in dead last before I use any assists....it just takes the life out of the car for me.

the key to these cars in my opinion is steering angle and throttle control, but short shifting out of the slow corners does help.

Yes, throttle control is what I have to keep telling myself. I have come to the conclusion that I have a much better experience with the R cars, don't get me wrong I still will be last place with them but these classes are more 'exciting' to me, such an adrenaline rush flying through turns and what not, could just imagine ever going this fast in real life, I'd surely die of cardiac arrest.

Right now Im a good 5-6 seconds behind the leader and cannot figure out how to get that much time back..Ill try again tonight

I was a second slower than you earlier today....not sure if I'm gonna try to go faster. Maybe tomorrow.

Forget powerbands, these cars have so much power, don't worry about it!

Somebody mentioned racing in the 787B for R1. I second this...if I'm gonna constantly crash and spin out I'd like to do it in one of the best sounding cars in the game. :P

We can decide which three... These regulations make the cars equal! :) I'll look into the 787B.
