Not if you don't explain it
You literally just said you don't understand the point of the demo...so what then would you understand about me saying why simply promoting GT7 wouldn't work?

Besides, MFGT still is essentially GT7, so it's not like it's an entirely new experience for those who played GT7.

Eh... to be fair, Music Rally's system based on checkpoints is as 90's arcade racing game as it can get (check Ridge Racer for instance), so I don't think it would have died if it was a feature on GT1/2 lol.
True, or “Outrun” even earlier. Maybe it’s the weird classical music that completely doesn’t suit the action, at least for my taste

I said I don't understand your comment about promoting GT7 "as it is now".

Are you implying it's not worth promoting? Or that's it's gotten worse? Or that it needs improvement?

I was genuinely curious to understand what you meant.

No, but as Clinton Ducks said, MFGT's purpose is literally to promote GT7, and as I said, MFGT still uses GT7 as its core.

Ergo, MFGT promotes GT7.
Sure. I was confused by your previous comment, but I guess that makes sense.

I still wish they'd work on improving the game and adding content rather than spending time and money on promotional material, but I guess they've got to make at the end of the day.

Well...it's not like the demo took much time or effort to make. Mostly they focused on the appearance of the game with the menus/structure and UI. Otherwise, the gameplay itself is untouched.

Then there's the 30th anniversary thing, I'm sure the demo coming out now is not just a coincidence.

I will say, if the idea is to entice younger player, Kaz shouldn't have any involvement with the music selection at all......EVER.
I don't understand why the Music Rally was even included, since it's a GT7 thing.

Classic experience my buttocks.
I originally said "Why the Music rally was even added in", but that statement still holds true for GT7 itself.:lol:
I'm a bit perplexed at how much of the trailer is taken up with Music Rally - a feature that's only been in the latest iteration of the game, and hence it is about as un-nostalgic for the GT series as it gets.
But PD sucks at satisfying their playerbase, so it's no wonder they suck at being inviting to new players.

I go afk for two hours and it explodes in here. Sometimes I find it eerie quiet in here and that I have the last word in many threads, but now. Sheesh. So hard to keep up and quote people without seriously lagging behind

Yeah I brainfarted on that. I was thinking GT3. I was just a bit disappointed I suppose, to not see more of a classic vibe.

I suppose there's a bit of a retro vibe with the menu element positioning but I was hoping for more given they said it would evoke the nostalgia of the early games.

Figured they'd go a decent way with maybe an adjusted HUD and menu style beyond the MFGT style which doesn't seem hugely nostalgic. But it is closer.

I was just expecting too much though. Especially for a demo that's 2 and a half years in. It's cool still, I like the throwback elements that are there and think it's a good thing overall.
I expected more too. We were wrong to do so I guess. On the other hand, I think my son(s) will enjoy this demo more than me.
The marketing for GT7 said it was going back to the roots with simulation mode and look where we are now. I won't believe it until I see it. You could argue it's not coming from Kaz's mouth directly but "Simulation mode" was text flashed up in the reveal trailer so he likely approved that.
He also said GT5 would have a freeroam city and the livery editor back then, so even though the man is a mastermind and obsessive perfectionist, it's not a good idea to listen to him, but hold him to his words 10+ years down the line from when he first say it. :D
Maybe. Personally i preorderd GT7 25th anniversary without hesitation. But my first impressions of the game were disappointing, especially regarding the career. I think many people were/are disappointed in that part of the game. So i can only hope PD is going to put more emphasis on that part of GT8.

A demo for GT8 like this one now before the release would be fantastic.
I've preordered every GT since GT5. I think I preordered GT5 3 years prior to release, and when we heard what editions we would get you bet I held my money to the signature edition!
Like who? Why not just promote GT7?
Why not both? Are you aware what consoles and games cost these days? Not everyone can afford every single game they want. They'd have to choose which to get. A demo serves a good purpose, to let people get a taste of what they're buying. That 60 minute free "trial" is bullcrap and you know it. Plus you'd need PS+ for that. Not everyone* has PS+

*I help make decals for a 15 year old on my spare time. He doesn't have PS+. And since MFGT is aimed at kids, chance is they don't have PS+ either. And that free 60 minute trial isn't available for GT7 either, so..

I’m thinking that with the car list as well. I could imagine some young players thinking, “Why are all these grandpa cars here?”.
However, my youngest daughter is 13 and wants an NA MX-5 as her first car and to keep forever. :)

Not even to think about car history, but the newest car seems to be(by the screenshots) the Genesis G70(which is only used for a Licence). In this screenshot from the Product Page, there’s the FK8 Type R.

The races posted look like just Sunday Cup, Clubman Cup and GT Cup. So, maybe AI are using more up to date cars. Just PDLogic™️ all day every day, I guess.

That's the spirit. My oldest son (6) turns more heads at old cars than new cars, but he doesn't know any brands except Nissan either. He's sad I had to sold the Fairlady Z I had before we got him
Real name Is Tony. ynot my name backwards. Dumb I know.*
*Why not, you mean?

Not dumb at all. I market my digital services as NITR4M MEDIA, because nitram is my name backwards.

The thing I like the most in this demo :
