Nor does it mean that the feature definitely won't be in GT7. Anyone saying today, definitively, that "GT7 will not be playable when the servers go offline" is stating an assumption that has equal change of not being true.
We can and have experienced the playable state of GT7 when the servers go offline. Music Rally gets old pretty quickly, especially when your results don't save.

A singleplayer career will be directly impacted if offline saving isn't enabled. But my point was just because a feature was in GTS doesn't automatically mean it'll end up implemented in GT7, no matter how similar the games are (especially a "feature" that's only datamined and not confirmed).

It's like looking at GTS's post launch support and expecting GT7 to match it in content.
No, because I'm not talking about a "feature" - I'm talking about an internal flag that has literally been created for the sole purpose of GT Sport being playable without an internet connection.

The game is far from perfect but I must say that VR — even though not perfect — dramatically changes it. Car collecting and all the car porn some complain, gain a whole new meaning.

But now that VR is a thing in GT7, PD should properly implement each car dashboards, specially for racing cars (GR.4, GR.3, GR.2, GR.1, GR.B and formula) where you probably want to change TCS, fuel mapping, etc while racing just by using the info on the car dashboard and not the standard game HUD.

Currently if you turn off the game HUD you’re unable to change any of those or even see the remaining fuel.

But it’s a beautiful game nonetheless and so far the best thing I’ve played on the PSVR2. I wasn’t expecting to rediscover GT7 a year later.

Has PD confirmed that their plan is to actually implement this? Or is this another one of a thousand other "found" features that will never see the light of day?

All the same, it circles back to digital ownership. Our access to a product we paid for is entirely at the mercy of the developer/publisher/platform provider. Increasingly so as games become more and more "live service" vehicles with more and more needless always online systems in place.

Nowadays we own pretty much nothing, we merely buy a license and it’s up to them to define for how long they will support it.

But we can all relax. According to uncle Klaus by 2030 we will own nothing and be absolutely happy. So it’s all good 🤣

It's already implemented, with a modded console you can already enable full offline play essentially just by flipping a switch. It's that simple of a flag. The servers are up still, so there's no need for it to be flipped.
This type of toggle is as straight cut as you'll get for the game being playable once the servers go down - outside of it being outright told to you.

PD know about the contentions of only online avaliability. They make weird design decisions but they still made the entire game franchise that we're all here for. They're weird developers, but not stupid.

They will probably flip that switch via an update when they cease to support the game and the servers go offline.

A year later, I feel like I haven't missed out by not buying GT7. It seems like a lot of good ideas that have been executed badly, and idk if I'd feel good buying it knowing what the campaign is like.
Why are you even here if you don't own the game? It's one of the best GTs to date, don't listen to the whingers. You are missing out

His comment implies he cares about the campaign, something GT7 lacks. I doubt he would enjoy the game.
More interested to understand why someone who claims to be uninterested in the game is still trawling a forum dedicated to the game some 12 months after it was released? Just buy it and find out. If you don't like it, sell it. How hard is it?

Are you referring to me or Vandelay?

I'm interested discussing the game as a topic but have no interested in playing it. It is amazing how a game can have so much potential but then fall completely flat.

It must be my age..., so let me try to understand that logic, it became a common thing nowdays all over the internet.

So what your saying is that for example, you can say you dont like coffee cause you saw a video of a random person telling to watchers that coffee tastes bad so people make note dont drink coffee dont buy coffee...

You never tasted coffee neither smell it you dont even know if the guy tasted it, neither if it was good quality but you take others opinions as facts and feel intitled to trash in this case a game you know nothing about?

You know it needs online just that..., you have limited acess to singleplayer.

You think the game its designed arround microtransations the later just cause you read on the internet this is me guessing...
You dont know how game feels you dont know the tools you dont know how deep the community use the game tools to make really fun and hardcore races.
I can tell you one bit, singleplayer campaign its a big tutorial so people can learn the game, still its not enough cause racing requires a lot of pratice and research to actually get decent skills/knowledge.

But you also have tools to make custom singleplayer races with cars from your garage and tune them to make combos you enjoy. have arcade races also, single player content will always be limited once its over its over, thats why the game have tools so people can have more choice.

Now it as VR a free update that makes GT something wonderfull and game changing on any console racing game with stunning visuals and immersion.

Whats the goal of people that think like you is?

I took about a five month break and have been playing more since the last update. I have purged myself of the credit grind mentality and an focusing on taking on better variety of tracks. The driving is fun. I, like most, would like more variety. I've not played online much and will try getting into that. There is lots to complain about, but the fact is that this is the best console racing game out there until Forza takes a shot. Fingers are crossed for the new F1 game as well.

I'm also going to start building custom races. Hopefully they can implement Sophy AI into all single player modes soon (seems like a no-brainer, but this is PD) ;)

You don't need to own a game to get a feeling for if you will like it or not, if the game play is engaging or grindy etc. It's very clear from the outside what GT7 is and what it isn't. It's clear it's got no deep career mode like the older titles, it's clear it's incredibly grindy and pushes MTX's, it's all right there in the game design. Some people will love GT7 for what it is, some people won't like it at all and there will be a lot of people in between.

But people who yearn for a modern GT4 and have no interest in racing online will probably be dissapointed in GT7. That's where I'm at, I hoped GT7 would be just that, and it's nowhere close. It's not bad, but it's seriousely lacking in single player engagement for me. Ultimately, owning the game or not, it's not up to you to educate or convince anyone otherwise. I can make my mind up that I don't like Banoffee Pie because I absolutely hate Bannana, I don't need to try it first. Similarly, if I don't enjoy games that take a lot of ginding, online play and I really do enjoy a deep single player career mode, I can quite well assume GT7 isn't going to tick my boxes.

I do own GT7 FTAOD.

For me, it is a really solid platform from which to build on. Kind of reminds me of GT3 where it was a game with less cars and it felt like "smaller" although it's campaign was extremely well built. However, GT7 feels like it was rushed and has been on a strategy to milk every single penny out of pure desperation because it takes a life to grind and purchase cars in this game. They are keeping us playing by mere mind tricks and FOMO. This is what makes me so angry and frustrated. There is no love for the car culture, it seems like the main focus was to make tons of money by tricking players with an addictive dopamine farm experiment.

I bought the game at launch and wrote a long post about my experience of the game earlier in this exact thread (post #14).

I know exactly how the game feels and that is why it is so disappointing that it lacks any substantive content. The driving feels extremely good but that is all wasted when there is little to no engaging content for the player.

"I don't own GT7" doesn't always mean "I have never played a racing game ever" or even "I have never played a GT game ever."

So in your example, it'd be more like saying you don't like a particular brand of coffee based on what you saw or heard but are still morbidly interested in all the issues surrounding it. You might even have liked that brand of coffee in the past but have heard or saw the changes made to it recently and that was enough for you to decide to not want anything to do with it anymore.

Guess I’m just in the minority that understand the game isn’t as well thought out as previous GT games. However, I’m still in awe I can drive around in any car video game. Gran Turismo 7 just happens to be a current game that allows me to do the driving around more realistically, in VR, than any console game available right now.

I think there were reports that some some modders (@Nenkai ?) found a switch in the ps4 version of gt 7 that makes it possibe to run the game offline. My guess is that pd would release a last update where this switch is enabled before turning the servers off.
I thought that was GT Sport ?

Yes that was GT Sport, no confirmation if the same switch is in GT7 (at least that I'm aware of), though logic would suggest it is.

Yes all that, its not the case here, most people nowdays know to much whitout really knowing, the majority give their opinion based on what they see on youtube and social media thats the problem, not this particular case.

There was a lot of post launch publicity that was impossible to miss. Like me following the cyberpunk story on YouTube but having no interest in ever playing it.

Yes i know that people do that..., in my case i played the game, did all side quests and so on, seeing it its not the same, you dont feel the gameplay, you dont do your own choices..., its like saying you enjoy making love just cause you watch Porn, i can name you a bunch of games that got screwed cause reviewers themsefls barely played the games.
Cyberpunk PC version was amazing with some bugs but nothing that bad, now console version its cool if you play in a Ps5,Xbox serie X but console version was crap cause Cd red made the mistake of launching for the old consoles so the game was bashed by the media but its a great game, Daysgone, Returnal on PC aswell very underrated games and nothing you see on youtube will make you apreciate the games if dont really play them by yourself.

All good, i just dont take critics serious from people that never played a game, they are not giving their opinion..., they are just repeating what they ear and see on youtube/net.

An interesting take on GT7 career mode

It's a very well put together video and summary, @Roflwaffle is a member here, I think he's done a couple of videos about GT7 to date.

Of course, not every will agree with his opinions on GT7. Personally, I find he summarises how I feel about much of GT7 better than I have managed to summarise myself at times . But everyone is entitled to their opinion and personal preference even if that doesn't tally with my own and vice versa.

You really haven't, it was avaiallbe for one period and it hasn't been avaialble since, this is due to a bug in the way the pools are generated.

Damn, if I had realized that it was such an issue, I would’ve taken pics 🤔😲 And rest assured if they do show up in my legends again (either one) I definitely will 😁👍
