I couldn't get a grip on tyre wear tonight. It also didn't help that the car would randomly stop steering for a few dozen milliseconds.

Absolutely hated the last 40 minutes of the race, whoever's idea to put the track in the game with the ability to run it at night needs shooting.

Sorry Carp and Snow for contact :ouch:
I should have void it those.

Race was hard. Only in main straight you could rest a little. No place for any mistakes or you end up to sand.
Still I enjoyed the race.
See you next race.

We need to stop crashing

So in practice I was running laps about half a second faster than what I believed everyone else was capable of. I was really excited.

Qualifying. Can't see 🤬. No one really does an amazing lap, myself included. Dump a tire in the sand on my last flier and kill any hope of qualifying front row. Joy.

Pace lap. Goal is to get around slow noob @Furinkazen and decently quick noob @Panoz ASAP. Get a glorious start the likes of which has not been seen since mine and Alabaman noob @cnd01's V8 fun at A1-Ring. Clear both teammates before turn one. The Jaguar, being the understeery pile of horse:censored: it is, is slow as all get out around turn two and I get a run on rather fast noob @TNR_KING_FILO heading towards the twisty bit. Outbrake him on the outside but don't clear him. End up side by side for the rest of the lap, but I let off before the final apex because lap 1 is way too early to be getting in a crash. Furi makes a very un-Furi move and passes me on the front stretch, he then makes a very Furi move in turn 2 and runs wide. I pass him but dip a wheel off braking for 3, go from 12 hours of Willow to Formula Drift at Willow faster than Furi can hit a pitwall. I somehow manage to keep it on the track.

Smack.

The demolition derby continues around the twisty bit as @chrisjohnson93 tries to pass Furi and I try to pass both of them, because I quit thinking at that point. I hit Chris and get more damage, no idea if I gave him any.

So I pit and am in last overall, 40 seconds down after two laps. Joy.

Make up a tiny bit of time on @jammy21 over the next couple laps, I think something might be salvageable from this race.

Nope.

I catch @RACECAR going into the twisty bit. He puts a wheel in the sand and spins across. Nothing he or I can do. Damage again.

So I pit again and am last overall again. A lap down after five laps. Joy. Again.

I drive like a madman now because I figure I can get fast lap. Catch Finnish penguin noob @Carbonox at the final corner. End up running straight up his bumper. I owe him a sandwich for that.

So I pit. Again. Not last overall this time so at least that's something positive. Two laps down. Joy.

17 minutes in. In 9th place. Forza Jules.

Spin a couple more times because I'm pushing way too hard. Hit #2 noob @raceorama123432 and spin. Finally get around him to be ahead of the GT cars again. Still running wide all over the place. Eventually run way wide off turn 2, hit the marshal post, and say screw it.

I came back to cross the line at the end. Finished 17 laps. Fitting tribute.

Whoever calibrated the light settings for this track should be hung and quartered.

In qualifying I tried with exposure set to brightest (+1.0) in the game, a setting that is sufficient for practically all other tracks, even when it's raining at night ... and there were still points on the track where I literally couldn't see a thing, not even the road ahead of my car. So I finished a lap and parked, and still was 3rd with a lap time 7 seconds off what I could do when I could see.

During GT-P qualifying I then started to experiment with my TV's settings and found that with additionally setting the TV's brightness to 100% (normally at 55%), it might be possible to actually drive at a decent speed (although I didn't know for sure, since I only saw the images from the fixed spectator camera views at that point. However, it would be way too bright going through the day at Willow, so I already made plans to come in for an extra stop whenever it got too dark to drive with normal image settings.

Stayed in 3rd after the start and got stuck behind @Siggers for some time while @raceorama123432 was vanishing in the lead. It was difficult to overtake his 250GTO, being slower on the straights and having to back off in corners. Once I got a run on him and managed to pass, I slowly began making up time on O'rama, which only got interrupted when I got clipped by @jammy21 in the flat right-hander at the end of the lap. It was only the slightest of touches, but the cars are so fragile at that point that it sent me into the desert and extended O'rama's lead to about twice as much as it had been. It was evident at that point already though that tyres would be an issue. I therefore planned to do 2 stops, with the first coming at 45 minutes. 1-stopping would definitely not have made sense.

I came out not that far behind O'rama and managed to hunt him down with a string of 1:22's, but it took until about mid-race (and mid-stint) that I was able to pass him. I then stayed out until it got too dark and pitted for tyres, fuel and screen adjustments. I managed not to lose too much time, but O'rama took back the lead because of it. In the beginning of nightfall, my screen looked a bit like it was foggy because of the exaggerated brightness, but when the light had fully faded, it was actually possible to go quite quick. I was surprised I was still able to see my daylight brake-markers, which included a) part of the fence on the left of the main-straight, b) a little bush approaching the Omega (don't laugh!), and c) the building straight-ahead approaching the last corner. So, I thought I could actually win this thing when I passed O'rama again, but shortly after I tried to lap @Carbonox at the same spot I had my incident with Jammy, and with the same outcome, too. I was lucky again not to suffer damage, but O'rama was back in the lead again.

I caught him one more time, but then he was slightly off track exiting turn 2, which broke my concentration long enough to miss my braking marker for the Omega and I ended up somewhere in the desert. That was basically the end of my hopes of winning. Had some more issues in the last laps, but that was meaningless at that point.

Good race, great battles with @raceorama123432 !

c) the building straight-ahead approaching the last corner.
There's a building? I thought it was just desert, never paid much attention to the off-track areas though.

I definitely regret not turning my brightness up on my last stop. That last corner was just a hell of a freakshow. It doesn't help that whenever other GT-O cars were coming up from behind, all I could see of them was the extremely faint headlights that looked about as useful for lighting up the track as a milk carton.

Here's my race.

Quali:
I was hoping that quali would be in daylight but when Furi set it to night it was little surprise.
I had some test run on night so I knew my braking point in the dark - so no panic.
Still it was hard to get good lap in but got good enough to take the pole.

Race:
Race started well and got some good gap when other GT-P's were fighting to each other and I could run freely my own racing pace.
Strategy was 3 pitstop. Everything went right and I try to be very careful when lapping GT-O's.
After last pitstop I had incident with Carbonox and I got damaged. There was 4 cars front of me and I couldn't clearly see who was doing what and I just try to find clear line through to traffic. Carb was just came back to track from sand (watched from the replay) and he just move little to much to right and we contact. I got damaged and got kick to sand - luckily it was at the end of lap right on the pitstop entry. I did some sand sightseeing before managed to find pit entry. Lost whole lap to Filo at that time.
I saw Filo was also pitting so I kept my lead by 6s after we made pitstop. Then I pushed few laps to get some time back that I lost with incident/pitstop and I got some good gap again.
Incident with Snow was little unfortunate because (watched from the replay) I put my right wheel little off the track and then car just skip little to left and Snow was there on my left side and we made little contact. I watched my mirror to see if Snow went off the track and then I found myseft heading to sand and Snow came following me to sand too.

Night driving was hard even with brightness setting to +1 and my room was dark too (no lights on).

Happy to get win with all that hard work.

Yeah, when you approach the final corner, there's some form of barn or hangar straight ahead that I use for lining up and braking. With full brightness it was actually possible to see a faint black outline of this building against the sky that surprisingly showed as slightly bluish.

And you're absolutely right. Racing at night in GT6 is generally pretty dangerous, because GT6 selectively switches off opponents' headlights, so that, if other cars are nearby, some cars coming up from behind are basically invisible until the last moment.

GT7/PS4 cannot come soon enough.

I seemed to struggle to get used to having grip again and lost a lot of time after pitstops to @snowgt I also really struggle to be quick when someone is closing on me, I loose focus and thus speed. However when I'm am the one attacking it is not as bad (this is why I didn't really drop back too far from you snow

^^ This.

I know I haven't won a race since WSC VIII. Although I have come pretty close in the last 3 races, but I got pushed off twice early on, and yesterday I should have won as well. :irked:

I may actually be there this weekend if.....if I can build and test a new Corvette on Saturday as my old one has a tendency to drive itself round corners.

If I Build It, I Will Race.

GT-P times look to be 2:01's for a lot of people. Going to be close.

I don't even know how I am winning after consistently losing to cobras
But you're doing it consistently, consistency wins championships!

Also, 4 cars separated by 5 points, this is why I chose GT-O over GT-P, the racing was closer and less strategy based :)
