Thing with prototypes though is that they aren't always put together all that great, unless the car was overhauled to a near production spec after all it's testing mule activities.
The car was actually used to fix production issues...Thing with prototypes though is that they aren't always put together all that great, unless the car was overhauled to a near production spec after all it's testing mule activities.
Beyond that.Further to this, it was used as a test bed for the evaluation of several other modifications. The factory-spec EB110 had a significant issue with fuel delivery. The car had two separate fuel tanks and fillers, one for each bank of the 3.5-litre V-12 engine. This caused the engine to run on only six cylinders if one tank ran dry before the other. The prototype introduced a dual tank with a single filler to eliminate this problem, and also featured a revised gear shifter and lightweight carbon fibre engine cover, modifications not seen on other EB110s.
Presented in concours condition in stunning light grey metallic, this rare EB110 SS prototype shows just 3,300 km on the odometer and is arguably the finest EB110 in existence. The car was recently fully serviced by HR Owen Bugatti of London, is UK registered and is ready to drive and enjoy. It also retains its original books and tools. Considering its exceptionally low mileage, its use as a factory test bed and known ownership history from new, it is plain to see that this EB110 SS prototype is a remarkable automobile in every sense and one truly fit for inclusion in the world’s finest collections.
1989 Lancia Thema 8.32 Estate in mint condition up for sale at 29,500 euros ($36,800). For those who don't know, the Thema had the option of being powered by a 2.9L Ferrari V8 (which was used in the Ferrari 308 GTB and Mondial), and this particular Thema uses that engine, adding to its rarity.

The '89 Turbo is a 964? I think they just threw in in with the rest, but nevertheless that is an incredible collection. I keep forgetting that the 964 RS is 25 years old by now, so it can be imported and registered in the U.S.Something for @Stotty & @SPhilli911; a 964 Collection going up for sale next month at Amelia Island.

That’s the one I figured it would be. I believe they switched to a 911 to finish out last season and now have a 488 for this year.Possibly not as rare as some in this thread, but nevertheless: a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3 GT that competed in 4 IMSA races.
Another 911, because I suppose that's all I pay attention to these days. This ones pretty significant, though, for Porsche and motorsports.
It’s the 1974 2.1 liter Turbo RSR, 1 of only 4 made (chassis R13, the 4th built) and very first turbocharged 911 race car. It competed at Le Mans in 1974 and placed 2nd overall. Estimates are $6,000,000 - $8,000,000!
Link to auction page, where there is a whole ton more info on this car:

To be honest, I wasn't aware of this car either. Seen it plenty of times, but I assumed it was a 934 with extra bodywork and I never gave it a second thought. It was the first I learned of a 2.1 liter 911 also, which I believe these 4 RSR Turbos are the only 2.1s there are anyways. Cool stuff, fun to learn about.Wow... super rare car. I didn't know they made a (4) Turbo RSR.... I guess this lead to the 935.
Fabulous colour scheme, but the extra body work on the rear lid makes it look a bit of a 'hunchback'.
