Funny/Strange News Stories

An Australian senator has started a "Ban the Burqa" campaign following last week's anti-terror raids.

The campaign includes a picture of a woman in a burqa carrying a pistol, with a caption describing the burqa as a symbol of violence and oppression.

However, it's believed that the woman in the picture is in fact Afghanistan's first female police officer, who is considered something of a national hero:

Well, if she reposted that pic from Britain First, she's probably not very clever.

She's not. She's the same senator who I posted about a few pages back when she described her "ideal man" on nationally-syndicated radio.

It doesn't surprise me that she's done it. She's really just echoing the comments of an ultra-conservative senator who has also featured in this thread after his book claiming that the children of single mothers and gay parents are more likely to develop drug addictions and turn to crime saw him get a roasting on national television that went viral around the world.

Train wreck indeed. Australia's Sarah Palin? Or perhaps worse..
We use the Westminster system, so her individual power is actually very limited. She is, at best, an amusing distraction from the people who are actually running the country.

Honestly, the entire Palmer United Party is like a living, breathing sitcom.

Unfortunately I doubt she'll succeed in turning off all men.

Even more unfortunate is that she'd probably like the people she turned on before a lot more than the people she'll turn on now.

Not a single reference to Eccentrica Gallumbits?

Really? COME ON, Internet. I have more faith in you than this.

Admittedly I had to search that one up to get that reference. :D

I'm surprised not even the one from 'Paul' has been mentioned.

I feel a weird feeling in the middle of my chest, almost like a phantom boob.

I'd imagine not shaving would achieve the same effect at a fraction of the cost, but than she couldn't whore herself out for fame.

The head of the New York Chapter of gun control group Moms Demand Action got into a Twitter debate and winds up saying that a quote from Josef Goebbels are "wise words to live by."

But they didn't directly attribute Goebbels. They try to avoid being linked to him.
Of course they tried to avoid being linked to him. Or has the Nazi party become an election winning thing?
By them having said that I did mean behind closed doors.

Only if you are an idiot, as shown above.

Wrestler killed his wife, child and himself in 2007.

Raul Moat shot and blinded a police officer and walked around with a shotgun whilst being hunted by British police.

Ah okay. I didn't recognise Raul Moat. I remember that incident more for Gazza turning up with a fishing rod and fried chicken.

EDIT: This is old funny-bizarre-weird news but Raoul Moat related (I learned the propr spleling of Raoul too). I was also wrong about the full extent of Gazza's special murderer-police-standoff "Peace Kit", apologies.
