Funny/Strange News Stories

I will see your bear and raise it with a Penguin.
It seems there are more of them, though no penguin on this specific list:

TIL: GI Joe was a bird 😵

Eh, no biggie. Just take out a small loan from Zimbabwe and it'll be sorted easy:

Not quite as easy as you might think.

Even with bills of "100 trillion" denomination, you'd still need a stack of bills so high it would reach 1/16th of the way to Proxima Centauri, or about 1.5 trillion miles.

Would the guy who stopped at Mars actually know this stuff?

If they pay it in nickels, the combined mass of the coins would be around 10 000 times bigger than the mass of our solar system. Would be fun to drop that sack of coins on Putin’s foot and see it collapse into a supermassive black hole.

If the sack is dropped from one meter above Putin’s foot, the energy on impact (note that Putin’s foot would smash into the sack of coins rather the other way around) would be equivalent to the yield of 3x10^20 “Little Boy” atomic bombs.

More on the funny side than the strange side and perhaps not exactly news, but this automotive/videogame related story has just been confirmed. Sorry if it's been posted elsewhere:

Yeah, Ferrari has done this before and is known to have cracked down pretty hard on tuners and replica makers in the past, not to mention imposing some pretty wild requirements for purchasing certain cars. If I remember correctly, anyone who wanted an Enzo had to write an essay of a certain length explaining their history of Ferrari ownership.

Wow. Anyone who likes to go vroom vroom really fast in virtual cars must be glad that the S.p.A. don't apply similarly stringent limits on their cars' representation in videogames.

Great, I'm now banned from buying a Ferrari because I modified one in GT5.

The logic of McLeanBen is a little flawed though when he claims it’s like renting. Ferrari didn’t stop him from modifying his car, they just refused to sell him another one.

Though not entirely surprising. It's been said that when they first started selling road cars, Enzo would personally interview each prospective buyer to make sure they were buying the car to use it as a sports car, and not as an investment. So I guess it does make sense that the car bearing his full name would have some similar conditions attached to it.

Meanwhile, in the "didn't have that on my bingo card" category... someone has stolen Britain's largest inflatable planetarium.

The UK has to have more than one. We have two in the backwoods of Northern Michigan. One just came to my son's school and it looks pretty cool.
