Funny things RICErs say (radically immature car enthusiasts)

Slashfan
Huh. He owns a Chevelle, so he must not know what a 1960s Mustang looks like since that newer one likes identical. How can he be a muscle car enthusiast? =P

Haha i once heard a guy mistake a lambo for a bugatti while at texas2k a couple years back

I remember a guy at school saying "I'm gonna put a straight 6 engine from an RX-7 into my B-series truck" . I think he needs more knowledge before doing any swap.

Since this is basically about radically immature car enthusiasts, here's some typical quotes:

"The Veyron is the best car in the world, dude nothing goes as fast as it does!"

Upon being asked where to find the best modified cars: "The Fast and Furious series man!"

"Slow cars are crap!"

"Dude, twin exhausts, you cannot get any louder than that!"

Here's another one from that Civic dude I brought up earlier.

Upon seeing 500+HP muscle car (Forgot what the car was): My JDM D16 Swapped Civic could kill that! Why would anyone not buy a Honda?

Now my friends and I use that quote a lot upon seeing powerful cars

Sorry to call BS, but I am calling BS. Firstly, I thought you were talking about your dad's pickup some time in the past? But now you refer to "my" transmission and in the present tense.

Secondly, a stock WRX of any series would whup 99% of pickup trucks, and in a straight line. What truck is it and how has it been modified? We're car nerds, we like such details!

Back on topic(!), I don't have a direct quote but have even seen it in these forums enough, I love when people who have a VTEC engine dress it up as some kind of performance enhancement, likening it to a turbocharger or fuel injection and banging on about the sound of it, when it is of course an efficiency system. Go optimum fuel economy!

Not really. VTEC (the performance variety) allows for hot cams without having a poor running motor at low rpm. Proper VTEC tuning actually involves setting the VTEC crossover very high, making a dyno run, then setting it very low. Comparing the two dyno charts you'll see where the low-rpm cams start to lose power and where the high rpm cams begin to make more power. The optimum crossover point is somewhere in there. So VTEC allows for more optimal cams at a wider RPM range. Horsepower and fuel economy are side effects of that. Without it, with only a high cam you'd have a loping idle which isn't good for power or economy. And with only a low cam you can't get enough airflow (power) at high rpm.

I'd say, have you ever heard of open headers? =P

I actually know a guy that thought his Honda Accord was the shiz and nothing in the world could beat it (and a 1981 Camaro was sitting right in front of him claiming it was trash). I almost punched him. I couldn't stop laughing though.

Why do street racers try to act hard?

Those videos made me cringe.

But however I must admit...I played the NFSU series and I put Lambo doors on a Civic...:guilty:

And even if I do, I still go for performance. It's funny on U2 when you see those Civics and Focuses with their three spoilers and tacky bodykits.... Makes me laugh and love owning them with the real cars and even a sleeper Civics.👍

I had a guy tell me one time that his dad twin turbocharged his M5 and now its top speed was 260. Oooookay.

I hate when I ask what size engine a car has, and the owner replies it's a V8.

I have on more than one occasion had a Nissan Skyline owner try to convince me it's a V6.

I remember a guy trying to tell me his subaru impreza wrx was 500 bhp, he had done some mods, but still had the standard turbo and ecu was never touched. He thought the dump valve gave him 50bhp extra...

I have a VTECe, and I am very happy that I have a very reliable, fuel saving unit under the bonnet.

Does me owning a Civic automatically make me a ricer? Because I find the fickle nature of Group X vs. Group Y to be pretty lame. It is possible to like sports cars, muscle cars, European cars, American cars and Japanese cars all at the same time, as I do. One can appreciate automobiles, regardless of construction.

People that tell stories about how they "raced" a higher priced sports car (higher priced than there £1000 eBay hot hatch), and that they totally beat them... when in actuality, the car they "raced" had no idea why some idiot in a Corsa was making so much noise about pulling away from the lights in the first place.

Edit: also eight6ers post reminded me of the guy that tried to convince me his 323i coupe was one of the V6 ones, so it was probably faster than my 328i Coupe. To be fair, it probably was faster, but it wasn't because of a fictional BMW V6, it was because mine was/is an auto with a worn out transmission, that got such poor fuel economy I'd have to brim it before attempting a quarter-mile, and probably coast half of it to boot.

Had some kid today tell me how his dad has an amazing twin-turbocharged MINI (the classic one) that beat a 458 round a racetrack in a race. The best thing is, he was driving it apparently!

Had a kid try telling me today that his Lincoln Town car with a 302 V8 could easily smoke a heavily modified 1976 Maverick 393 stroker....I lol'd.

Did some small research and it's a '71 Clubman Estate with a Civic engine and transmission.

Link.

Love it! Honda FTW!
Some people love to diss Honda engines, but given the right application they can be quite awesome. It reminds me of an article i remember reading years ago (Honda Revolutions magazine), someone decided to transplant a Honda engine into the series 1 Lotus Elise... it improved the car no end and was so much better than the Rover K-series lump. The person responsible contacted Lotus to show them the new and improved car... apparently Lotus wasn't happy, (then a while later went ahead with offering the Elise with Toyota power). I'm not 100% sure why Lotus was displeased, but if i remember correctly, it could have been due to a falling out between Lotus & Honda regarding F1.

One of my friends was trying to convince other people in a party that his bone stock, beaten to death Chrysler Neon that he went 150 MPH in his car, and it could still pull easily.

The same friend was the one that wanted to put a blowoff valve on a 1988 Chrysler Lebaron Convertible because it had a 2.4 TURBO engine. It was such a joke.

Forgot about this thread... May as well mention:

At a 240SX meet in Boston with some friends. And this riced out Honda Del Sol drove past and everyone at the meet went "ooohhhhh!" About an hour later, the same Del Sol came back the other way, stopped by a group at the meet and said "Are you guys going to race? If so, tell me when and where! I'll beat you guys!" My friend captured it on video as well. Best part was the guy's Borat-like accent.

Picture of the Del Sol at the meet:

A cousin of mine once claimed that his mum's '99 WRX thrashed a Yamaha R1 which was supposedly "twincharged". Having known the bloke who owned the Yamaha, which was actually an R6 that had neither a supercharger nor a turbocharger, he said that when this event took place he was sitting at a red light and when the lights went green, a blue WRX tore past him with "some little :censored:head" sitting in the back seat giving him both fingers.
