HI guys , when it cames to mounting your g25 and shifter, dont let material block your creative side. If its man made it can be made. When making the cockpit, dont think of your self, think about if others want to take a spin in it.How tall are they or how small, will they reach the padals will they reach the shifter. How easy is it to enter or exit the cockpit, Does your knees knock when u turn.So try to make it practical and easy to store .

I was looking through the pictures of your setups and noticed this one of the TV.
You don't sit that close do you? :odd:
My 52" is about 8' away and sometimes I think it may too close.

Great setups by the way. 👍

Thanks for the complement and yes I'm sitting that close it kinda gives me the feeling like I'm really viewing it through my cars windscreen or as the yanks would say the windshield. I do have an Acer HDMI 23" inch monitor and I view it from arms length and I still get the same effect. I think the 52" is really overkill IMO but since I have the 52" I just thought to try it out. Plus friends that come over get a big kick out of it. It's probably more of the WOW factor if anything....LOL but people who aren't into it kinda give me that look "How old are you?" That's the reason for the rollers, makes it easy to move it out of the way and hide when the wifes friends are coming over. Easy to move like a hand dolly.

Beautiful Mixka!

What kind of Sparco seat is that? Looks amazing!

Looks like you had the right idea with your screen placement. So many people sit sooooooo far away from the screen. Really takes away from the immersion, in my opinion.

EDIT: I just noticed, that shift knob is backwards, isn't it?....

;)

Yeah! I think it's backwards too, most cars I see that have the same shape shiftnobs are facing the other way. But, To each thier own, right?

Pictures are a little too dark, can't really see much of your settup but I'm sure it's good.

This may be why I'm so slow on the track, you now, being a back seat driver and all. :dopey:

Actually the closeness seems to be the worst while playing Call of Duty games as I really couldn't see the entire scene without turning my head.
This may have more to do with my eyesight and age.
My vision is turning more towards tunnel vision.

I have been watching you build your setup also, good start. 👍

Thank you.

It's coming along nicely. Just waiting for some more wood, paint, and some carpet to finish it off.

But, To each thier own, right?

Absolutely.

Made some modifications to my racing setup. I decided to remove the G25 pedals from their plastic casing and mount them upside down in the cockpit for a better racing position. I also spaced the pedals out and it is now much more comfortable. Here are the pics .....

DSC_0052.jpg

If everything goes OK I will soon switch to G25 thus my question:

Is operation of switching pedals up side down - to their normal car position - a complicated one ? does it require a lot of skill ?
I understand that my warranty goes down (what is the proper idiom for that ?:) ) after that or does the producer give some info in manual that user can do that?
One last question - are pedals getting much less durable after that operation, I mean is using them that way and the operation of switching pedals itself wears it out more than using it in normal way ?

I would also like to add a question from my other post - is cord from shifter to a wheel long ? or putting the shifter far from the wheel on the right/left side below requires some work on cords ?

Not that complicated. It's just a matter of getting it disassemble and switching the two over being careful not to pull the wires out and screwing everything back on. It will depend on how mechanically enclined you are. As far as the warranty is concerned well that's a chance you have to take. As for the shifter wires it probably around 3 to 4 ft long.

On my mod I felt the original casing for the pedal position was a lot better after the switch over because the clutch pedal gained some space between the brakes so as not too accidentally tap the brakes while shifting gears with the clutch also making it more comfortable for heel and toeing. Plus it looks cleaner without the wires exposed. Now all I need is a dead pedal that matches. Anyone have an old G25 gas pedal that they can spare?

Excellent idea, you used the original base plate and simply inverted the pedals in there 👍

I think I will do the same, thanks for pics :)

Thank you very much for your replay.
One last series of questions if I may (couldn't find better place for it)

Is there any particular production series of G25 I should or shouldn't buy ? (I have heard that some older models have some problems with FFB?), year of production ? How can I check it once the shop gets it ?(I am not buying via internet)
Is Logitech planning to create any new wheel ? (looked for that on google but couldn't find anything) if they do - old wheels may get cheaper...

Logitech is currently working on a new wheel (codenamed G27), but it's all currently under wraps. Not really any news floating around about it, other than hearsay.

I would, however, expect that it is released sometime around GT5's release date. Seems like good business sense.

Yeah, maybe they can bundle it with GT5 hope it gets a handbrake and the on the fly adjustment settings plus all the PS controller buttons.

Made for my PC sims, but I now use it for GT5P since I use the computer shown for more general purposes. The TV is also on a regular TV stand, not on the one pictured.

Very nice ergonomic setup. I'm loving the inverted pedals, and the mouse tray. I'm going to be building a triple monitor stand, in much the same way you made your single monitor stand.

Very nice. 👍

It's the same old setup, with new bits and pieces. I found a carpet on the jobsite so I wouldn't have to tape the pedals to the floor (like I did to my GT Pro). It's still on a dining room table, but now I have a flashy T.V. and monitor, so I can check GTP Forums, or the GTP live chat, while I'm racing! I sit on my old loveseat, and a stack of pillows, and can reach everything I need from there. Once in a while, I'll get a little sweaty in a certain spot :embarrassed: just because of all the cushy pillows. I'm willing to field any questions.

Umm, what spot is that?

Nice comfy setup.
Isn't having a computer for chatting between races just great?
I may have to incorporate a laptop bay into my next setup.
It would be great for the convenience alone.

You should be driving a Cadillac then sports cars in game.

errrr go ahead and laugh...

When I got it about 2 months ago:

Ghetto ironboard broke later, so I did it like this:

Then I decided to switch the tables around:

I added 1 of those weights on each side of my chair because when I push the brakes, my chair would move back little by little.

I am still not sure if I want to buy Vision Racer 3 or make my own Home Depot seat. Maybe I might just leave it as is.

...at least if you get bored driving you can always go surfing with your ironing board...Just kidding!

I just sprung and bought the G25 earlier this week, it comes monday.

So yesterday and Today, i've been working on a CHEAP cockpit.

An yes, i've thrashed the MOMO...good reason for a G25. Xfire's got me as 200+ driving hours (including the 24H trifecta of Daytona, Monza, and Le Mans in GTR2), and i've broke the gas pedal, both shifter collars (broke 5 of the 8 total springs, and then the plastic pegs on each collar after getting new springs), made the motor start smoking twice, had to completely rebuild the pedal assy after both sensors were stuck at 50% as being no pressure, cracked the housing where the bolt mount attaches to the housing, and finally, the infamous centering issue.

I'm hoping the G25 will survive the abuse....to say the least.

Well heres mine 👍
Been 8 weeks of lessons on and off and i built it for GCSE's.
Ive won an engineering award for it aswell :sly:
Its all 40mm x 40mm aluminium box section and is loosly based on an Ariel Atom.
Pedals are inverted and with a slightly bigger gap between brake & throttle for heel-toe.
Sorry for poor quality pics as the iPhones camera is crap.
Cobreau Seat
The frame is completely collapsable via wingnuts (2 sides, seat section & pedal section)

I can only apologize for the mess, i have a PS3 under the desk next to my processor and i use the TV for my PC sims and my laptop to chat etc. at same time.

Questions are more than welcome as i do now have 10 weeks off school

you know, if you made it so the wheel folded up and to the side like some open wheel cars do, and make the seat slide all the way forward...I wouldnt mind that as a computing position myself...

What did you use to bend tubing that large with the varying radii?

I have swapped the wheel with RL 350 mm wheel for better grip and comfort.
Red buttons (to look left and right whilst racing online) are also functional 👍.
