I put together all the screenshots of GTmode to make one big map.

Jesus Christ, just pretend there is an official rule in Gran Turismo racing that demands the reverse warning lightbulb is removed before a car is race legal. Use your imagination or somethin'.

Live, I have wondered that aswell, considering that the 3600s has been around for 18 months or so.

Apparently, it seems that RUF are the only ones who had the balls to do that conversion, Boxster owners were quite miffed as to why Porsche themselves did not do it. (upgrade the boxster from 3.4 to 3.6)

Porsche could not upgrade the engine from 3.4 to 3.6 litres because Porsche does not and will not put the 911 flat-six into the Boxster. That would make the Boxster quicker than the 911 Cabriolet, thereby negating its existence. They make a big profit off of those 911 convertibles, so they will probably never fit the 911 engines to the Boxster. Oh, and Ruf has already begun to switch from 3600S to 3800S with the new 3.8 litre from the 997 type 911.

Really? They've started thinking about the 3800s.

Just a thought, if Porsche are now putting a 3.8 in their new 997 911's (and they have probably had this in the pipeline for 6 months or so), why not bring out a new 3.6 boxster?

If my memory serves me right, have'nt porsche just just brought out the new and improved boxster?

Apologies, I don't mean to make this a Porsche thread.

Hot car is just the new car lot. So, 2 RUFs:3400S and RGT.

Maskrider, how do you get the normal tires (N1, N2, N3)? I went to the parts shop and these three tires are unbuyable?

May be depends on your car, I can buy any tyre but I also have to also buy the corresponding wheel for them in GT Auto, normal and Sports tyres use the same wheel.

maskrider, thanks for your incredible amount of hard work. Some questions and comments, sorry if they've been answered but I didn't find them anywhere.

It's cool that you need to buy different wheels for different applications - that's very realistic.

I see on the "Pit In" menu that you can elect to replace a given set of tires or not... but can you select a different compound if you own it? So you can fine-tune your tires during longer races?

I assume fuel is only an issue on long and longer races. So far does it seem good or bad as an addition?

You can change to the ones in your posession that are compatible with your wheels. But some races have limits on the type of tyres (e.g. not racing tyres).

It's about time they thought of that!

Why do you want it to be the German name as opposed to the British one?

Oh, no preference, I just figured that, IIRC, there were far more Omegas made, so I expected they would probably have been easier to acquire for the game...

Edit re: reverse lights: I've noticed the lack of reverse lights since GT1 first came out, and every time a new GT was coming out, I'd wonder if they finally put them in. I certainly don't need them, and would not want to see PD delay the game to put them in, but I for one spend a lot of time just fooling around and looking at the cars - would be nice to see a simple little detail like reverse lights incorporated. With photo mode and photo drive also now included, some great rear-end shots could be made even better with the addition of reverse lights...

I just figure, if even early Need for Speed games had them, I don't see why PD can't have them...

The Omega and Carlton are the same car with diffent names, the Lotus Carlton name is by far the better know and that is whythey used that one, and because it's the British name and since it was built by two British companies thats the one they should use.

Yeah, I don't care much which badge it has or which side the wheel is on, I'm just happy it's in there! :D

I guess it really just depends whether you consider the car a Lotus, a Vauxhall, or an Opel. I guess my question was just motivated by my recollection that more Omegas were produced. Over here, most people know nothing of the cars, but it seems the Omega is the slightly more common name to be thrown about. Would be interesting to see which is the more common name in Japan...

I suppose I hadn't thought of the fact that the car could be considered a Lotus, and would then be best displayed as the version from Lotus' country of origin - good point live4speed.

Maybe someone already said this, but can anyone tell me if you can change the paint of your car after you purchased it or buy special colour packages like in GT2

You cannot change the paint after you buy the car.
