Thank you, proves my suspicions where correct.

I imagine all the premium cars & tracks that where in GT5 will be back for GT6, so they have less work cut out for them any future installment(s) in the series.

Quite early? They're nearly two years into development.

Recently Yamauchi said they work a few month with almost or all ressources they have and this is the reason for no big GT5 update.

I think they began pre-production two months before GT5 release and a few months ago they started work with 90-100% ressources on GT6.

Thats early by PD standards
:dopey:

Early by PD's standards based on what? :banghead:

Unlike, for example, the time constraints which forced the development team to reduce the 650 cars of Gran Turismo 2 (released two full years after GT1) for PlayStation to just over 150 for Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec (released one and a half years after GT2) for PS2. For reference, consider this: the last game for the PS2, GT4 (released three and a half years after GT3), had more than 700 cars and 51 race courses.
Before the release of Gran Turismo 1, we studied 3 years long the physical characteristics of engines. We didn't know if it was possible at all but were convinced we should do it. 2 years passed between GT1 and GT2. With Gran Turismo 1, we achieved 90 percent of that what we wanted to achieve, the rest, we achieved with Gran Turismo 2.

With GT5, how close are you to your goal of “The Real Driving Simulator”?

“90%” was the instant answer. “Well, 85-90%”.

PtP: Please complete the following sentence: "When improved hardware like the PlayStation 3 is released...

KY: ...we have more work, as we have now more polygons to work with and we have to use them."

PSM2: Do you think it is possible to develop a realistic racing game without damage?

KY: No. You got to be carefull with an implementation of such a feature. We try to make everything almost perfect, so if we will ever have a damage model, then we want it to be almost perfect. After a light impact, the car gets some scratches and dents, after a heavy impact, it sets on fire and the race is over. A half baked solution for this is out of question. I do not want a car, which still drives after some heavy impacts. Surely you can help a turned-over car, but nothing more!

PSM2: Are all your favourite cars in the game?

KY: No, I still would like to have Ferraris and Lamborghinis in the game. But we had this problem forever. Other companies secured the licenses.

-First of all I asked him about the Nürburgring, when its coming ? and what takes it so long? and I told him that a lot of people waiting for such a great track.

-K.Y simply said its gonna be in GT5

Then I asked him about Porsche and Lamborghini’s are they going to be in the game? why isn't already?

K.Y: The thing is we are working on it, because like the Porsche have some contracts with other games manufacturer, and those contracts has just ended so it’s possible for us now to negotiate.

Me: What about the damage feature? How far is it?

K.Y : That’s also coming. The negotiations are taking place already, the only problem is that some manufacturer like Porsche (NOTICE HE SAID PORSCHE, DOES THAT MEAN SOMTHING ALREADY HAPPINING) say's it’s ok to crash and total our cars we have no problem, and other manufacturer like Ferrari say's : we won't allow you to show some damage on our cars even if it’s the side view mirror damage .

"I'm not even close to owning all the cars I'd like to," says Kazunori. "My dream garage would have to include... well, a Ferrari 330 P4, a McLaren F1 and the new Nissan GT-R."

Ah yes, the GT-R. Nissan's Skyline (OK, it's not called the Skyline any more, but Kazunori repeatedly refers to the GT-R by its old name) has been intimately intertwined with the GT franchise over the past 10 years - in fact, 48 different Skylines have appeared in the various iterations of the game.

Read it all or don't. All that these quotes and everything else that I've referenced so many times in the past tells me how a whole lot of you need to stop being so damn irrational.

GT would not be what it is or ever have been made had Kaz listened to the higher ups (and tired-of-waiting GT fans). We should blame the maker/s of the entire GT series based SOLELY on GT5's shortcomings, right?

After all, we're the ones that spent 20 years trying to make a game that's as complex as GT5.

“Not in terms of content, but the pressure really, if we can call it that, of the delivery dates are sometimes difficult to bear,” said Yamauchi.

http://videogamesdaily.com/features...rice-kazunori-yamauchi-on-learning-to-let-go/
With its grinning engine grills and rubbery hubcaps, Grand Prix was far from the game Yamauchi dreamed of making, nor was it backed by the full force of Sony’s fledgling videogames division – PD itself had a staff of just 10 when it was incorporated in 1998. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old college graduate went to work with a vengeance.

“The year and a half that it was in development,” Yamauchi remarked this month to Autoweek, “the last three months as the release date approached, myself and my staff were getting three hours of sleep a day to try and get the game done. Near the end, the people from Sony came to our development studio and told us it was good enough and that we could release it.

“At the time,” he went on, “I probably wasn’t thinking very clearly, being as exhausted as I was, and I talked myself into thinking this was good enough and it went to release. But all the things I thought were not enough yet, the users said the exact same thing when the game came out.

“That was something I regretted very much when that happened because I knew it was coming. And that happened at the beginning of my career, and it was something I vowed would never happen again.”

PtP: What was your next project?

KY: After the success of MTGP I did MTGP 2, I concentrated on the goal to bring in some more driving-fun/joy. But a GT, a realsitic racing game, I still wasn't allowed to do.Sony feared that at a game with realstic cars, there would be thousands of license contracts-they weren't interested in long-winded nagotiations with the car manufacturers. Nonetheless, MTGP did help me to improve my footing in the firm and my reputation was very good. But my idea, to create a true racing-simulator, I still couldn't forget. I wanted it badly. So I approached the manufacturers on my own. First, I was at Toyota. They liked the idea, but couldn't really start something with the idea of "Virtual Reality" in a game. Then VW, Subaru and Mitsubishi followed and they were quite taken by this idea. As soon as all the manufacturers were convinced, I finally could start Gran Turismo, as now I had the backing, which earlier on, I lacked. Since then, the reputation of GT changed, the manufacturers see it now as a commercial platform for their cars.

You need to chill out and stop feeling the need to defend PD to the nth degree. A simple tongue in cheek five word comment and you post all of that in response?

another_jakhole

Funny. One quote say's that Yamauchi said Ferrari wouldn't allow damage and still some racing games have Ferrari with a damage model.

Funny what he said about the damage model too. A almost perfect model or non? I hope he don't see the GT5 damage model as perfect, because it is one of the worst damage model i know.

Don't get me wrong. I like GT and Yamauchi but sometimes he talks to much.

I think you shouldn' take the post from "earth" to seriosly

Maybe GT6 Prologue...? As it's been stated, it seems a bit too early for an announcement of a full GT6...

Prologue would only make sense to me if we wait 5-6 years again for the full version.

OMG OMG OMG! Daiki Kasho is, like, totally performing live, right now. I AM about to FREAK!

/s :dunce:

But seriously, this is awesome.

GT5 was announced before GT5 Prologue....

Announce GT6 and say that a Prologue version will be available, if they want to do such a thing. I don't see a need for that now as the core game structure is there and doesn't need much adjusting done to it. Also, DLC and profits from GT5 would go towards GT6's budget, so there isn't necessarily a need for a GT6P.

Also, if they have turned "90-100 percent of their resources" towards GT6, the next GT5 DLC will be the last.

That crossed my mind actually. Since the first DLC pack/s sold more than 1million in the first week or two, I can only imagine what the count is by this point.

Soul On DISPLAY! EEEK!

edit - off-topic

I was surprised by how well Daiki Kasho performed at Asia's GT Academy event. With a small 50 person audience, they committed to playing to the fullest. Definitely appreciated since I gotta wake up early today.

I would like to point out that a lot of GT5's original announcements and some date drops came from Gamescom. Europe being GT's largest market is another nod for a good chance at seeing GT and then there's the timing. Assuming what Yamauchi-san said back when first asked about GT5's sequel (something along the lines of simply adding in apps to a software, thus coming sooner) tells me that this could be the first we'll hear of GT6. Considering Lucas Ordonez already knows a bit about it is further proof that they're at least far enough along to be showing builds to people.

I'd say we'll get an announcement but no date. However I'd expect it to hit shelves around this time next year.

I don't expect GT6 to be much more than 5 with more tracks and new cars. That's fine by me. Any step forward will com on the next console. I'm guessing - aren't we all???

All these PD quotes etc make me laugh. Have we such sort memories of the days when GT5 was in production? PD are the worst source of reliable info about GT games.

Please don't take my comments too seriously.

Well. Maybe they already created a few DLC and didn't released them yet. So i wouldn't say the next DLC will be the last. Of course it is possible.

Could they be talking about Gran Turismo 6? This Australian magazine seems to have some info which is part of a worldwide reveal on August 14, one day before Gamescom. I would not link this to Gran Turismo if it wasn't because Polyphony had visited the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, Australia earlier this year. Would be awesome if Sony brought a GT6 demo to Gamescom in order to showcase the beforementioned track.

Unfortunately I feel that there just isn't any evidence there to suggest they're talking about GT6 over any other game that we don't know about. It'd be nice if it was, and the timeline lines up with Gamescom, but there's just not enough evidence to say it's GT6.

That could very well be possible. None of us know how much work PD have done for GT5 that's yet to be released.

I just feel like something could happen. There's been too much reported on here and the timing just seems correct.

Ordonez talking about tracks, the guys at Bathurst, the recent tweets. Not much, but enough to make me suspicious.

Don't let me dampen your spirits mate.
In fact I encourage speculation and hype.

Good times ahead.

I don't think they will do it at Gamescom. They will most likely show GT6 at Tokyo Game Show and that is next month. I don't know and will most likely join the speculation and hype.

EDIT: I always thought it was Gamescon instead of Gamescom. -.-

I will guarantee 100% they will not announce GT6 at Gamescon.

I won't make the same guarantee for Gamescom however.

 I was wondering whether I had it wrong in my head the whole time.

I doubt that GT6 will be there since it is still quite early in the game's development.

Really? Because when GT5 dropped almost two years ago they announced development on GT6 had already started. Most games have finished development in that amount of time. PD takes FFFFOOOOOOOORRRRREEEEEEVVVVVEEEEERRRR to release titles.

That usually happens when a developer works on a racing sim and doesn't outsource any of the development.

we could get a "refrence" of a possible gt6 announcement time from seeing how long it took to announce gt4 seeing as how gt4 and gt6 should have similarities IF gt6 is released on ps3. so does anyone have info on the date of gt4's announcement?
