Not to stray way off topic, but do any of these games offer an offline career mode? I've been interested in a few but don't really have the bandwidth.

pCARS might more-than-adequately cover that angle, but that's still in development.
There's always the Race Driver and GRiD games, but they're sort of semi-sims at best.

The GTR games certainly are more of your traditional sim, in that they have offline championships, but not really any "career" as such. rFactor has progression in its vanilla form, but I never bothered with it, so can't comment on it. Game Stockcar seems like a traditional sim, too, but I've not played it. iRacing cannot be raced offline at all, sadly.

EDIT: Yes, the main reason to get rFactor would be for (some of) the mods.

It gets exhausting guessing when PD is going to release another game.

As someone who has been around since the first one, you get used to it.

I owe A LOT about my knowledge of cars and driving to PD. Not to mention the opportunity that PD, Sony and Nissan gave me last year to make my dreams come true. And for all those things, they'll at least have me as a fan for as long as they decide to keep doing what they are doing. 👍

I kinda wish Sony's slot wasn't right at the beginning. It seems like if other developers had a really good showing it could pressure them to show GT6, but that won't happen since they go tomorrow.

I think these presentations are planned far in advance. I can't see Sony contacting PD last second and saying we need a demo or trailer by tomorrow because of what Microsoft did in their presentation. If you look back at the Prologue videos they show them working on a TGS demo and it wasn't a simple job. I would guess Sony and PD decided a while back when the first GT6 reveal would be, not a play it by ear type of thing.

I suppose you're right. They may not have planned it yet, but it probably isn't so much of a spur-of-the-moment deal.

Track? I'm a fairly untrained eye and I saw El Capitan, Amalfi, and Grand Canyon in that video..

I really, really am starting to dislike the GT Academy. What a scourge on Gran Turismo IMO. I dont play Gran Turismo to be a real racing driver and even if I did what are the odds. Most of the guys who win the competition already have a background in karting etc so if you think you can win by just playing GT yeah right

On the other hand, it shows how drivers with any real life experience can apply their skills to the game. In other words, Gran Turismo is a game that has connections between real and virtual.

I'd say it's not impossible at all for anyone really good at GT5, with no real life experience to be a racer. Not likely, but not impossible either... in my opinion.

Yeah, I couldn't identify the snow track (see: untrained eye ). When was that video from? Because those tracks were definitely used with GT5 graphics and I haven't seen that video before.

I doubt it as well. The best we'll get is a flash of the logo in a compilation trailer of Sony IPs or a tiny trailer with no gameplay.

Isnt it funny how Kaz has been to so many obscure gaming shows this year but had dodged the big ones like E3 and now possibly Gamescon

You know what would be really nice to see? Kaz letting some of the other PD employees take a prime position for events. I know it's "his" game but he obviously doesn't do all the work himself, far from it, so it would be nice to see someone else in a prominent position turn up or at least appear in promotional videos even if it's with subtitles. Most game studios and IPs have a 'head' but you still see and hear from others, the key people in the game like the artists, modellers or the sound department. In PD I don't know the name of a single other employee except Translator-san.

I think the PD employee in this video from Gamescon a few years ago would be a perfect candidate to do just that. Speaks perfect english, doesnt answer questions with riddles, and generally appears more comfortable taking questions and being in front of the camera then Kaz

Don't see what would be wrong with a Vita game myself.

Not going to be an announcement today I imagine, TGS isn't far away, if, and I stress if, there is any news we will likely hear it there.

Would not match up to the console version at all really.

Especially if your used to G27 etc.
Digital rather than analogue inputs.

From a buisiness perspective it's the right move.
Vita needs a kick up the arse and maybe GT is the kick it needs.

PS I own a Vita myself but I wouldn't touch GT vita. Hell I didn't buy F1 for it.
I'd rather my seat and wheel for those sort of games.

Well, it's not like it would mean there would be no console version either. Am happy to play racing games with my wheel and analog control, vast majority use pad so imagine there are plenty who would want it. And it has two analog sticks so you have analog steering, braking and acceleration. Touch screen could be good for livery editing. Lots of stuff could be done.

Especially if it was a version that could sync in with the home console version, allowing shared credits garages etc, would be great.

For an example look at Criterions new N4S game, that's what they are doing.

Is that cross play PS3/Vita?

Ya know I've got 16gig of crap from PD on my HD with regards to GT5.

Ok I have Spa in with that lot but that's it. No DLC cars or paint chips etc.

As a vita owner yourself could you deal with those sort of updates? Knowing the memory situation on vita too. Not ideal.

I'm sure 90% of vita owners will be all over this and I don't begrudge them one bit.
I'm very confident it will materialise.

I think things will be different for PD in the future, this was there first attempt at an online game, things have been iffy in some ways, I see them learning from it. I imagine GT would be a game I buy on a card rather than download as well.

No it wasn't crossplay, more a cloud based save, allowing you to continue play and challenges across home and mobile devices, it may have live multiplayer but I imagine it is more akin to Motorstorm RC.

Aha. I have a good idea for an app of sorts of PD can get it together.

Basically if the next GT was to incorporate a livery editor I'd like a vita app to create designs on the go.

No need to bog down the memory with all the cars. Just give me a drag and drop from the PS3/4. Maybe grab 10 cars at a time or so.
Create and save to cloud/or link up.

I could see potential in that.

Setting up our G27 in the train or bus might indeed raise some eyebrows, the plus side might be that you're almost guaranteed to have the complete seat to yourself.

Just seen this.

PMSL.

Half hour to know something. I don´t think we are going to see something about GT at all...possibly a PS Vita game...BUT Sony is going to announce 2 games (i said this in other post, already). One game comes from Japan Studios and the other nobody knows yet.

Then comes the PS Vita games.
