Garage Showdowns! Join Discussion to Make Future Events Better!

I haven't had the chance to test the new events yet (different timezone, so I am at work currently :)). I have no idea what S2 tyres are going to do for (or against) my tunes, but hell, count me in. đź‘Ť

Alrighty then, you guys win but I aint happy about it. TLD has dibs on Copperhead Orange/White Stripes for our racing colours this time. I'll put all this stuff in the opening post. Dates will remain undecided for now.

I'm not sure what I'm getting into either, but I'll give it a shot. If for some reason I fail horribly, it will be easier for you guys I guess. :D

I need to know what colour DC and L-T will be using for the race. The exact colur name as per dealership would be appreciated.

I'll take the blue with white stripe, not sure what it's called exactly as I am not at home right now.

Viper GTS Blue with White Stripes. I'll add that detail in. Oh, and yes I am now officially taking entrants for this things. If however, it seems closer to the event that the garages have a very un-even number of people representing, I will be re-allocating drivers to even things up a bit. It's only fair.:)

white for me. Think its called stone white?

No stripes if that's even an option? OK, I'll get the proper name from the game, and add your Colour to the first post. This race will so be won by the garage who gets slipstreaming at the luckiest time.

OK, fellow garage owners, get tuning, drivers of GTP, start letting me know who you'd like to race for. Come on, don't be shy.:sly:

Hey guys, can I get in on this?
Given my recent experience with the TLD Alfa I'd like to drive for you, but I'm happy to drive for anyone.
I know I'm a noob, but I'd like to think I'm pretty handy, and am courteous too, so if I'm butting in where I'm not wanted, tell me to take a long walk off a short pier and I'll be on my way!

I´m IN!!! Don´t care whitch tuner... If I have the power to choose, it´s 888 then. Thank you. 👍

Next showdown coming? =) If so I would like to be in race. Able to race for TLD this time? ;)

Next Showdown started.:sly: I'll put you on my team then.

Anyone can race here.:dopey: Do you have the PAL version of the game? If so, I can indeed put you on my team. Otherwise you'll be on my team in the NTSC race.:)

I take it doblocruiser will be on my team too? I just assume these things.:sly:

OH, ALMOST forgot. This will be a knockout style comptetition. The garage who takes the most wins in round 1 against their opponent proceeds to the Finals. Points are only earned through a race win, there are 8 races per division per round for PAL, and 4 races per division per round for NTSC. So it's basically the same as last time, but now it is a knockout style competition. Any ideas on how we can pick who races who in round 1 randomly I'm all ears.

maybe like getting 8 racers for every garage in pal/ntsc split them in 2 racers pairs and every round with different guys
it will be like 2on2on2on2

I have two ideas to see which team versus which.

1. bet on 2 sport games on one weekend like soccer or afl and each driver picks which team they are betting to win. two winners pick who they want to verse and whoever is left race each other. However the two winners if wanting to race each other must agree if they want to race each other or the same team.

2. Owner of each tuner prior to posting the tune up must come up with a lap time using their own car with evidence via a replay. Order of laptimes is what order the tuner picks who they want to race.

OK, so the Finals will be the week after Round 1. Please check the opening post for a rough idea of what will happen. 2 garages will be division 1, and 2 garages will be division 2. Then come Finals there will only be 2 garages left. Like I said, this event is impossible to run on a weekly or daily basis. I'm trying my best to sort it out.

Sorry for this n00b question, but how are you going facilitate these races without rooms?

Just curious as to how you can organize such a race.

everybody joins the race at xx.xx time that has been synchronised with the ps3's online time. You will pretty much always get everybody in the race with you. Sometimes 1-2 people may miss out but its the best we can do at the moment.

We all hit the start button at the exact second for the start time. Almost 100% of the time, we will end up joining a race with at least 3 people, the servers are never popular enough that we all get split up. Because of the unreliability of this method, we have the 4 start times for the hour so everyone has 4 chances to get in, and usually everyone does.

Put me down as a driver for DC, sorry Holden, but I feel I have to support one of the new teams because you're going to get plenty of drivers. Its nothing to do with the quality of your tunes or anything like that, so dont take it personally. I suppose Im also doing it for a challenge, lets see what I can do with a slightly different tune.

Also, might want to make a note for people that English time right now is not GMT because of BST and recommend using the online internet clock here:

Sounds like great fun, if anyone needs a mediocre driver, i'd be happy to drive for any tuner.

But be warned, i'm not the best driver out there, my round times are :
Suzuka pp750 viper around 2:04/2:05 , and in the 600pp with a amuze350 around 2:18 (free-run) (trying to avoid being sacked after my first race ;))

Just wondering if any part of a tune is still open to personal preference (i.e. steering lock).

Well, i'll be fying off suzuka now to get to (less)gripps with the new tyre restriction.

Rgds,

Ooops,

Just before flying off Suzuka with the the new tyres, i thought i'd check back to see what car we should be driving (in the remote case someone needs me).

Then it hit me ;) , this was probably already discussed by you all, but for completeness:

The goal of these races is to find the best 'general tune' for a car right?
If that's correct, then shouldn't the drivers drive a race with each tune-shops tune?

Then in the end, the shop with the most points (or wins, or best overall place, whatever) can claim the 'Best tune for event/car'.

Ofcourse this complicates things a little bit, and i may be deadwrong about the goal, as the main goal is obviously 'have fun on the track'. Furthermore, i'm a newby here so i hope you can forgive me my n00b statements (and -driving and -tuning and well, that's enough pre-apologies i guess).

Overly enthousiastic,

mindwise

Most of us are equal level drivers, so if one tune is faster than the others, we will see. So, its fine as it is. It worked last time anyway.

And you need to be flying off to Fuji as that's where the race will be ;)

Fuji, indeed.

Well, so far my pace enabled me count the pebbles in the tarmac.

What times should i be looking for? i don;t know the circuit too well but 1:58 after 10 laps seems a bit slow.

Target time is below 1:50 ish ? i'll need a lot more laps i guess :)

just took the car for a quick spin. Very difficult to get the power down on this car and the final set of corners at fuji really hurt this car. The inherent maximum torque from almost idle when setting the car to 600pp seems to not really help.

Probably still going to be difficult car to drive even with a tune but should be easy to get some more speed out of it. Looking forward to the fun in tuning so far.

mindwise: i did a 1.56 within the 3 laps I used the car. Definitely more to be had.

I think this car is really going to benefit those with a wheel as you need a lot more throttle control.

I'm in.

Sign me up for 888 again, NTSC. I'd be more than willing to switch if we need to balance out the drivers a bit.
