My gf is going to kill me wanting to stay home to race on gt5 but I think I can do it.
+1

Anyway I think you guys should relax, this is just a friendly competition, it's about the fun of driving cars we don't usually see and having a ball, besides like it has been said before, the whole outcome of the race isn't enough to say what's the fastest car because it all depends to the drivers, their skills, dricing styles, outside factors that had an impact on some race, cm'on this is supposed to be fun not some rivalry thing, just chillax :sly:.

Quoted for truth.

Knowing when to put the power on, when you should go outside and come back for high exit speeds. It makes for interesting racing with so many different ways around the turns.

In other news I'm going away til Wednesday, so this could effect me, or it may not. Either way I'm turning up :)

Throttle response is needed more than people realise on Fuji because evry single corner is off-camber.;)

Mate.. you above anyone should know that talk means nothing.. its the name at the top of the winners list that says it all.
You can judge the cars however you want, but the only thing that speaks the truth is the timing sheets. No excuses no stories no bull****. You got beat and if you believe it was by a slower car then you will just have to deal with it.

Now as for my original comments.. Welcome to the art of pre-race talk.. I dont give away info... if my comments upset you and make you angry, then I have already won. :) its almost zen-like :sly:

Are we able to make changes to our tunes once published ??

OK, firstly, the name on the winner's sheet doesn't mean crap. I know this because of rubber banding. Also, Timppaq was who won it for you, who coincidentally started on pole in the races as well to my knowledge. He was always followed closely by a TLD driver. And yes, I have learnt that driver skill nullifies a better tune. Better driver= faster car first and foremost. But I happen to know there is a new event/organisation coming that will help prove more who is a better tuner rather than just having somefun races.;)

PS- No hard feelings or anger here, just don't go saying your tune was faster hands down when that was never a clear conclusion.

Yes we can change our tunes, I don't see why not under this form of competition.

A bit questionable, yes... ..but ok with me.. Yet, I think we shouldn´t drift into releasing a tune and then discovering something little and then changing. The hole point is that you take your time and make it the best you can and then release it.

And for the swift cup, the 888 must have been faster.. I did ok with it in the 1st race then...LOL ;)

Questionable? How so? I did this all by my own conclusions on the handling, no one even said what I could improve, I did it myself. However some other tunes were built on feedback, someone telling the tuner was what wrong. I have nothing wrong with that, but just find it a little ironic you call my actions questionable when they are less so than others if at all.

True, this also means that this showdown is not just about tuning skills, it's the driving skills that probably weigh in even more. :)

+1, and rubber banding. Sometimes it's about who gets lucky by being in first over the finish. (Perhaps sometime smarter to sit behind in 2nd and slipstream to victory?;))

A truer word could not be said.

Taking nothing away from the drivers cause the racing I have seen so far is so close its almost dead even, but the best car will still remain point-less without a decent pilot.

I fully expect to have my Tuned ass handed to me on a platter at some stage throughout this comp, until then I get to Strut !!!!

I can't see anyone one of the tunes having their ass handed to them. It's too close. But L-Tune has 2 very very good drivers, and most probably a decent tune.:scared:

I agree, in a friendly competition like this it's not a big issue. I do think tunes should be frozen after the first race has occurred though, for obvious reasons. Until then, I don't mind fine tuning or correction of issues. The only alternative is that you don't release a tune before it's completely finished, which will most likely result in tunes being submitted a day before the race or so, instead of a week or more ahead.

Heh heh, I thought it was finished, until I started racing again the other day and decided the gears weren't right. I agree tunes should be frozen after race 1.

Let´s not take this too seriously guys.. it´s not a big issue, that´s why there was that "a bit" and "lol" after that! ;) ..but a little pre-race talk is always good for the competition.
And if we are talking about it, then I guess in my mind this should go like this:

-Tuner tunes the car.
-Before the "release" the tuner can get feedback from the team drivers (via PM)
-As the tune is released (a few days before the race) it´s "freezed". (I´m sure it´s not necessary, but the tunes could be released at the same time)
-The tunes are open to public and so starts the racing.. :)

Or we could freeze the tunes just after the 1st race (as you mentioned), if tuners want to fine-tune them "publicly" during the week or so before the race.

In theory, if the tunes are modified after the "freeze point", you could get some misunderstandings.. (just in theory!) ..and it´s always good to have some "rules", not to have those. But you tuners can make them up if you feel so...

But this is just my opinion... don´t take it too seriously :P, I´m happy anyway and it´s enough for me to have these close races in the first place! Thanks Holden for organizing this hole thing... so far among the best races in GT5P! And I think the daily cup adds another 50% for the experience. :)

Damn, I often seem to be taken too serioysly.... I guess I need to practise expressing myself... :)

See you tonight.. 👍

I wish I could race another Viper right now.:( Racing soft skirts in their easy to drive AWD pieces of cheating is no fun. I also found that shifting from 1st to 2nd takes even longer if I mess up and end up in that gear. My gear ratios leave that fatal flaw.:scared:

Edit: OK then folks, clear your calendars. Round 1 is this weekend, and the Finals the week after that. Upon a suggestion, all 4 garages will be in the same race for NTSC version. Except 2 garages will be knocked out after round 1.

Edit 2: All dates are now in the opening post.:) Just to reconfirm, TLD and DC are Division 1. 888 and L-T are Division 2. Due to a lack of numbers PAL race 2 will not be taking place this time. All 4 garages are in one race for NTSC, no divisions. Best of luck to all TLD, I'm off to bed. Good night.:)

So the Finals will be on the Saturday 7th?

And just a cautionary note.
If you look at the online race menu it says
Finishes 12/06/08 at 06:00. :mischievous:

So you may want to hold off before starting another Showdown. In case those wonderful people at PD throw us yet another curve ball

Hi Guy's :)

If there's still room I would like to compete for this showdown too 👍

I have tested the 888 Viper and suits me well.

No prob for me to race for anyone if needed :sly:

I think I'll have to apologize since the date that is scheduled for the first race is the sme day my parents arrive (they live in africa), and on the second date I'll probably be on holiday, so it seems I'll have to sit this one out, Im really sorry N4HS :(.

I would like to race with you all. I have none of your tunes but I'd like to try them. I do fairly well with my own tunes but I'd be willing to try, compete, and or compare the differet tunes you all have. Are the tunes posted somewhere? I would like to see if the tunes conform to my driving style. Thanx.

There are links to the 4 tunes in the first post.

You can try the tunes and sign up with a specific shop, but the organizer may need to reallocate drivers to ensure each shop is represented. For the NTSC competition, we're currently short drivers, so this is looking quite likely.

Hey guys,

Just a note for the 888 Drivers, I have made some changes to the car setup after some great feedback from Wayne.. Thanks mate !!!

Please make sure you update your car with the new settings.

OK! Thanks! And if it´s still possible to give feedback, I´ll take another look at it before the first race... 👍

Good, we finish before the next ones start.;)

You, you're a fast driver right? Why does 888 always get fast drivers? Bah, I praise all the TLD drivers for their loyalty, not their speed.;)

Oh no, not again.:( Just like last time people are dropping out of my garage leaving me grossly outnumbered.:scared: Recruitment trip.:D

+1 And yes, NTSC race is looking really shaky. (1 driver per garage?:scared:)

I'll check it out, thanks! The old one been pretty good already. 👍

:sly: I'm not that fast online, I'm still learning races vs opponents ;)

You are doing great job too Holden and I would be honoured to race for your garage too, this is a friendly race isn't it :dopey:

For the Viper, I have tried them all and the one that suits better to my taste is the 888 tuned... I don't mean the faster one (this I don't know), but the one that I feel more comfortable with 👍

hope we'll all enjoy those races 👍

That's fine, I put you with 888 Tuning. I'm already trying to track down some drivers for TLD. Re-allocating drivers is the last thing I want to do. Just be sure for all drivers though, have enough cash for a different coloured Viper if things turn ugly.

PS- NTSC racers, I need your help to find some drivers who might like to race the NTSC race, otherwise your races won't count towards the tally of victories for each garage.

Put me down for the NTSC race.

I'll race for the TLD garage, really loved your M3 tune, will have to try out your Viper one before Saturday.

I'm back from my mini holiday and will still be good for this Saturday and next :)

But I'm considering pulling out due to the VAST numbers of punters in AWD cars i find in Fuji, I've yet to have a good race on Fuji since my first one. Simply because i got shunted off the track and it's race over once you lose the slip.

I'm finding the same thing. AidenMcrae is one to look out for. I'd like to tune his face after the way he behaved just now.

I have found though that the quarter hour times, at the right time of day give half a field of GTPers, so makes it much more pleasant. And chances are if we're all presing the Start button at the same time for an event not many others are going to get a look in 👍

Its the fact we should get enough people to force punters away thats keeping me in.

Before the race, when the entrants are known.. lets PM everybody the minute that we will go. (and from there on, 15 min intervals). What do you think?

i would like to get in on this. i have the NTSC version and although i have not tried any of the tunes yet i would like to represent TLD

Don't pull out. Short and to the point.:)

We start at xx:00 for the times I've posted, why need a PM?

I'll be a driver... RedSuinit NTSC TLD

Excellent, your driving is welcomed.:)

Alright, the NTSC race is looking up now. How many drivers can we get for L-Tune and Dutch Customs though?

To avoid the party chrashers! + some may have already learnt that our meetings always seems to start at 00;15;30;45, so changing this would maybe give us more room to get all together?

I doubt it. Making some random times would be confusing and difficult for everyone, and hard for me to organise.;) I can't wait for the full GT5, and private rooms.

Alright... It was just something that crossed my mind... :) I know it´s hard to decide a time and send one pm to multiple recievers... ;) (..just joking, of course..)
