I'm talking fighting games, unless there's a sonic FG... at which point I'm going to burst out laughing. In any case, wanna street fighter for a bit? I just woke up, so I'll be ready in like 5 minutes.

Was hoping for a 3bar connection, but to my surprise, that 2 bar wasn't too laggy... It was just a few ms laggier than a yellow connection. In any case, darren, you should work on doing more special moves.. and Circle seems to be your favourite button...

In my third battle in Super Street Fighter IV, I finally won my first online fight. It was Ken (me) vs. Sagat. Prior to this fight, I had lost four straight rounds. I finally got around to winning my first match before taking a beat down in the second. In a narrow escape, I finally won to get me one of those PSN trophies for winning your first online fight.

I've been pretty impressed with C. Viper and Juri as far as new characters are concerned. Capcom must have lacked originality in names when they named some of El Fuerte's moves. Rufus is more freaky than a solid fighter. Haven't seen a guy this massive since seeing former American pro wrestler Viscera. Hakan and Abel both scare the hell out of me with their power.

I like how Capcom modernized the Street Fighter IV series while keeping everything classic with the 2D-like gameplay. I also enjoy how even the classic Street Fighter II characters doesn't look like they've missed a beat. Same goes for some of the other returning SF and SF Alpha characters. Just a great job by Capcom with this reborn Street Fighter series.

Sonic isn't cheap.... Metaknight and Snake is cheap. Metaknight's got a sword and almost all his attacks have significantly shorter startup frames than the rest of the cast making it seem like moveset has godlike priority. Snake just has mad broken range. Let's say he throws out a kick; his hitbox extends like 3 feet beyond his foot, in every direction.

Sonic is just annoying...."you're too Slow!! you're too Slow!! you're too Slow!"

My friend always picks Snake, he always waits in the corner and spams projectiles. It goes for the same for Samus.

Whenever I play as Snake in Brawl I listen to this tune

Oh S*** I've been spotted! *Runs Away with guards giving chase all trying to shoot me*

I have cleared a few different trials in Super Street Fighter IV. Each character has about 24 trials, and the most I've completed for one character was about 10. I am mostly concerned about completing game modes solo right now, so I don't really focus on online battles too much. You all are always free to add me on PSN. Maybe if we're on at the same time, we can knuckle up (virtually, of course) in SSF4.

Try not to get too absorbed into Arcade mode. Playing AI will seriously give you bad habits when you go play aganist people, which is the core of fighting games.

And I recommend you guys read up the basics people cover on how to do certain things like Focus Attack Dash Cancelling... nk4e, where's that VesperArcade tutorial?

Oh and when snake spams projectiles, be patient on getting in, mixup grenade toss gets annoying as well as mortar slides, and C4 and mines being planted all over the place. On the other hand, throwing grenades is so much fun.

So during Arcade Mode, I started to allow online challenges. Man... I could be in a VS. screen or a loading screen, and I would be challenged right away! The only reason why I'm doing this is to get that trophy for doing 30 matches during the online request deal. I am absolutely TERRIBLE online! It took three matches to finally get my first. My winning streak is two straight winning matches. I think I've done about 20 total online matches through the Online Request deal, and I've won maybe two or three of them. An I have so much more to learn. I could just never find that winning edge to just eek out a win. Once, I lost a round today in a Perfect.

Something else I do is try out other characters to mix things up. Once, it was Dudley (me) vs. Ryu. I CLEARLY lost despite making it interesting at one point. I'm getting better with Juri, and my skills using Ibuki are coming along nicely as well. I never used Ibuki much in SF3, so I'm learning how to play as the teenage girl ninja.

If it shows the strength of certain characters, the most common opponent I've faced was Ryu. The most common character I have used is Ken. Much like how Tekken tracks how often you use certain characters, if there was one for the frequency of characters I use, Ken would be atop my list behind Ryu and maybe Juri. Despite my online futility, I am still very impressed at the job Capcom has done making the Street Fighter IV series. It's completely modern while still retaining its old school charm. The games aren't like a re-hash of the Street Fighter EX games (as far as 3D modeling and action are concerned). Really well-done job by the fighting game king- Capcom.

If this was SRK.com you'd have been flamed like no tomorrow

Don't worry so much about losing online, I lose ALL the time. nk4e loses twice as much.

90% of the time, you're facing bad people, and if you're not playing AE, you're definitely playing awful people.. based on what I've noticed anyway.

That kind of post is food for trolls on SRK. Like Gt5 in some ways, playing offline is waaaay better than playing online.

As far as Street Fighter in general is concerned, I am better using non-charge characters or non-circle characters. What I mean is... Guile, Balrog (US), Vega (US), Dee Jay, the like- those are characters where most of their moves require you to charge up to execute a move. I just get worried trying to execute certain moves, especially Supers involving charge moves. Like for example, I can't do Guile's Double Flash Super move or any of Vega's supers. I am also not good with Supers and Ultras involving full circle moves (like with Zangief). However, use of the analog stick makes those moves easier to pull off.

So I mostly stick to Ryu and Ken. Another thing about me is that I often tend to do the Shoryuken more than I do a simple Hadouken. Just a weird fact about me in Street Fighter games.

So I guess I'll be occupying this thread along with the General Anime thread xD

I have:

Blazblue Calamity Trigger
Blazblue Continuum Shift
Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition
Marvel vs. Capcom 3

And my Madcatz TE

They made a BlazBlue TE? I didn't know that.

And I thought it was just me.

YAY! another Noel user!! They did make a Blazblue TE for BB:CS

So out of the roster you have
Ryu
Ken
Makoto
Ibuki
Cammy
Dan
Akuma
Yun
Yang
Gen
T.Hawk
Dudley
Adon
Fei-long
Juri
Hakan
Though to fix that little short cut between hadokens and shoruykens. Try pressing f,d,f+p in a single motion. SFIV has alot of shortcuts than its older games.

There was something I forgot to mention in my latest post. I did about 20 fights online so far, and a few times, I had some fights with a laggy connection on the other side. So there was a little jerkiness in maybe one or two fights I did online back on Sunday. Otherwise, the online performance was solid. I'm sorry I forgot to talk about the online play in general in my previous post.

My friend calls the motion to perform the Charge Up supers "The Funky Triangle", since the command list illustration more or less draws out a shape of one. In any case, the funky triangle and 720s are tough to execute on a pad, so don't stress out on that.

And I wouldn't bother using Guile's Super, it's garbage. Use your meter on EX Sonic Booms instead.

720s are easier to land (without needing to jump), by whiffing normals that are active for a long time (long recovery frames).. Once you hit the attack button, quickly execute the 720 degrees rotation and hit the attack button(s) to perform super/ultra.
