if I buy it I am seriously thinking of just getting the normal copy instead of the collectors edition I would like the artbook but really a bank grrr stupid capcom at least soul caliber collectors was nice.
As for capcom releasing another version this year i am gonna be the optimistic one this time and say they wont. But if im wrong than so be it.

Sidenote: Hopefully Darkstalkers 4 will be 2D......won't happen though.

I can't see it being anything but 2D. If they made it 2.5D, I could live with it so long as they keep the gameplay it's known for intact. Give it a Revenge meter or X-Factor and I lose interest completely.

i think everything is gonna be on the same type of engines SSF4, SF X T and MVC 3 are all running on the psuedo 3d engine I like to call it

Ddrizle, are you hyped up for Resident Evil 6?
Indeed I am! 👍 I really enjoy the series. It won't be a day one purchase but, I will be getting it. 👍 :)

I'll keep a little hope aside. 👍

This is what I think aswell.

It would just be nice if Capcom decided to resurrect the CPS3 engine for DS4 though, but oh well.

Yeah, that would be 2.5D. Because they seem to have made it their big thing, I really can't say it would bother me for Darkstalkers 4 to use it as well. As long as it's not SFIV ugly, I'm okay with it. MvC3 at least had GOOD looking character models using 2.5D.

SFxT is like CVS2.

That explains the familiar vibes I get from watching the Tekken characters in action...

Max gives a good details how everything is in SFxT.
Hey Ddrizle..
EEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTSSS..

By now you've heard news that 12 additional characters - previously revealed as PlayStation Vita exclusives - are located on the Street Fighter X Tekken disc. Naturally this means said characters will arrive on the console and PC versions shortly after the Vita version launches later this year, but the real question is why they're on the disc in the first place.
Official statement:

Capcom has confirmed that 12 new fan-favorite characters will be available as Downloadable Content (DLC) on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC versions of Street Fighter X Tekken later this year. The playable characters will make their debut on the PS Vita system when the game is released this fall, with the console and PC versions receiving them as DLC soon after. The character information and files were intentionally included on retail versions of the PS3 and Xbox 360 game to save hard drive space and to ensure for a smooth transition when the DLC is available, allowing players who choose not to purchase the content the ability to play against players that did. More specifics regarding pricing, dates and other additional exciting DLC plans for Street Fighter X Tekken will be shared at a later date. As a reminder, the retail version of the game will be the only disc-based version consumers will need to own and all future upgrades will come from post-launch DLC. The new characters fighting their way onto Street Fighter X Tekken are... from the Street Fighter side... Blanka, Cody, Dudley, Elena, Guy and Sakura will be playable and from Tekken... Alisa Bosconovitch, Bryan Fury, Christie Monteiro, Jack, Lars Alexandersson and Lei Wulong will all be available.

By including these 12 characters on the disc, the idea was to ensure easy compatability between players who do and do not choose to download the characters when they arrive as DLC. For example, not buying costumes in the Street Fighter IV series means you will not see the costumes when playing another person who did buy them; on-disc characters avoid this issue and allow everyone to participate in the update without additional patches or hiccups. The update also saves on file size - instead of a massive download, there will be a much smaller unlock that brings the new content to the surface.

This move also furthers our desire to avoid a "Super" version of the game down the road. Everything you need to enjoy this game for months (and years) to come will be accessed by the retail disc available this week. When the DLC update does come, it will inject new life and excitement into the game by unleashing 12 new fighters into the wild.

SFxT has a ton of content on day one, then later this year we reenergize the whole thing with a hefty DLC update, without the need for a second disc. And while pricing details are still to come, I can at least say it'll be a great value considering the size of the update - 12 new characters is pretty substantial, after all.

I understand the reaction, but SFxT is a damn fun game with a ton of content right out of the gate and more stuff - all designed to keep this fresh - to come.
About in disc DLC.

I appreciate that Max goes through all that trouble to share with the community. I watched ep 3 that probably should clear the air regarding the auto block gem. I found that it basically changes the blocking mechanic from Street Fighter to Tekken directly.

Well, it also uses the majority of your meter. Reading the article, here is Capcom's answer to avoid another big title coming up

Nope, if it keeps the game alive and hype. I could wait..They will release it when the Vita's version will come out. It gives time for people to figure out the system.

While it avoids needing another disc, it doesn't mean the best solution was to exclude the characters. Costumes, fine, but not the characters. It's not like they HAVEN'T created the characters; they already have it made, but decided to make you pay extra to access it. That's such a stupid excuse. Any changes can be done via DLC in smaller proportions so no new discs have to be implemented.

Really they have no reason for locking the extra content onto the disc other than to make more profit off of the work they already did. From a business aspect, this is a good idea since the entire game industry seems to be going in this direction.

For a fighting game however, this is a...pretty iffy concept. I digress, people will still pay to unlock the content they already have on the disc.

there game there disc there rules welcome to to how alot of online stuff is going i didnt say I like it but I am letting you know the only way they would change that is by all of us boycotting the game doubtfull that will happen. Crapcom is in the buisness of making money so I dont know why its a suprise

I never said it was a surprise. In fact, I stated *why* it's a good idea from a business standpoint. Does it change the fact that there's no logical reason to do this aside from financial gain? No. Will it change? No. Why? Because people will buy it.

Hell, I bought the crap out of EX Kyo when he released because I'm much more used to his rekka move set than his fireball move set. Yes, different company, but they did the same thing. EX Iori, EX Kyo, and Mr. Karate were all finished and on the disc before the console version of KoF XIII got released. For a fighting game, this is saying "Okay, so we won't let you use your main, but they ARE on the disc and you CAN use them if you pay to unlock them. If not, then learn another character."

I repeat, I know this will not change since the big companies are following the train to post-release DLC already in the disc, but it's still a screwed up way to go for fighting games. I can understand doing it for costumes and stuff, especially when I don't care for aesthetic extras as long as I can still body people, but going down this road for CHARACTERS is just evil. It's a SMART DECISION because now they have competitive players more likely to buy it if they mained that character in previous games, but it's still f'ed up.

Wow.. all this over DLC Characters being on the disc already. Soulcalibur V did it with Dampierre and noone complained.

But it is ridiculous. Remember the good old days of buying substantial expansion packs? They would be released months or even years after the original game. Nowadays companies are making content that is ready well in advance of the games release and charging extra for it.

I'm aware of the financial motives behind it, but there's no excuse for it imo. This picture sums it up nicely.

There's a good way of doing DLC and a bad way. This is a perfect example of the bad way imo. I have plenty of expansion packs in my games collection, but I am yet to purchase a single piece of DLC for a current gen game(excluding GTAIV TLAD + TBOGT, which I bought on disc). There are a few I would like (such as GT5 and SSFIVAE). I've downloaded a lot of the free DLC that comes with buying new games, but things that add no extra value to the experience like costume packs, I will never buy.

They ( companies) really don't need any other reason other than financial gain. Oh well we will see lol. By the way I bought all the KOF characters too.

To be fair, I don't think there are many people that actually played Broken Destiny enough to care about Dampierre anyways. :v

To elaborate a little, when I say DLC characters, I mean returning characters that were available from the start of previous installments made to be DLC for a new installment. DLC characters that are completely new to the series and stuff like that, I don't mind.

Yes. Add something new to the game. Don't strategically withhold things in order to further profit. Can you imagine if there was a new version of SSFIV where Ken & Ryu were DLC?

kinda I guess. What does everyone feel about virtua fighter characters on Dead or alive 5 hmmmm. ( I know its been posted before. for those thant didint see it)

Sadly, FGC and other communities have been loyal to Capcom....Boom, Guilty Gear x Blazblue!!
