Heres the story,
Ages ago when I first unlocked the Enduro's I went straight on to Le Sarthes,
I just LOVE racing on them,
Theres just one problem.
I cant seem to find a hard enough challenge on either of the tracks..
I started of with stock LMP1's (baught tires obviously) I thrashed the competion..
Tried a slightly modded Nissan Fairlady Z Concept & still won too comfortably..
I've tried GT1's & JGTC's & I still win..
Does anyone have a car that could win with a decent driver but would be VERY hard to win :]
I want to try something like that!
Maybe even a car that might not be able to win even with a good driver. I'd still try it. (no stupid challenges like the Subaru 360 or mini etc..)
All suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks =]

Pick a road car. Leave the spoiler off.

I suggest a TVR Cerbera Speed 12.

Hmm, that handles like crap.. :yuck:
Would be interesting to try a car that would thrash the straights but suck at corners..
Are you thinking Stock or Modded?

Go with the flow. But leave the wing off :)

Bah, not if you know how to drive it...

I guess that true with most cars but still. I've tried driving it a few times & it just wasnt that great. If you know a decent setup for the Speed 12 it would help..
I guess it would kill on the Sarthe II
Leaving the wing off still sounds rather suicidal!
It would be a good as a challenge & I'd probs learn abit too..

The Pagani Zonda doesn't seem much of a challenge, seems about the same as the Fairlady I tried.. Although it may handle rather alot different as I havent tried a MR on Le Sarthe..

I am thinking of trying a Lancia Delta Rally car..
I think that might be a little TOO slow & it has a tendancy to eat its tires..

After I finish my Nurb 24hr I'll test both & have a see which one seems more of a challenge, I'll probs end up doing both anyway :]
Keep the suggestions coming please ^_^

You're certainly hard to please. :) First you want a challenge, then you want a car that's not so challenging! I bet you already know what you want to drive, don't you? 💡

Just kidding. I applaud the fact that you want more of a challenge, actually, annihilating the competition is boring. :indiff:

Famine,
Why are you so set on me keeping the wing off?
(I dont put wings on anyway can never be bothered to)
I welcome a bit of oversteer =]
I think I'd try the 12 with stock engine but fully mod the supsension & breaks etc.. I think thats enough of a challenge dont you think? If I boosted the BHP it'd be a breeze.. Doesnt it go to like 1000+BHP?!

Parnelli Bone, I dont have a clue what to use, I'm just a bit unsure that a 700+BHP monster like the 12 is much of a challenge, But I'll still give it a go, If I lap 2nd place I'll stop :sly:

Hows a Suzuki GSXR4 for the Nurb 24hrs as a challenge =]
The field always has 400-500BHP I only have 265(ish I think) I'm an hour away from finishing, I'm almost 2 laps infront now!👍

Oh I believe you! 👍 I'm always using under-powered cars to win in GT games, and if they're not underpowered, there's usually some other detriment such as poor handling.

...anyways, I have yet to do the Sarthe enduro so I can't really suggest anything yet.

What GT cars have you tried? Im guessing the Oreca Viper or Vette C5.R wouldnt be challenging enough, even stock?

Heres an idea, try some older cars. The classic Ford GT40 race car, or the 63Vette Race Car.

Or howabout a DTM car, or the BMW M3 GTR Race car?

The Viper or 'Vette would definitely be overkill, so would DTM cars like the Astra and the CLK touring car. Might be fun with a Calibra or Mercedes 190 E Evo II though.

Try it. You'd be surprised how slow and heavy it can feel at times. It's a car that seems suited to endurance racing, as it's quite easy to drive for a long time, but not that fast.

Standard AMG CLK-GTR? I've not tried that, so I'm not too sure of it, but it sounds like a possibility.

By the way, DC9990, double-(or in your case there, triple-)posting is frowned upon here - if you want to add something to your post, there's an Edit button for that. Just so you know :)

An entirely standard Speed 12 would probably be an interesting one. Yes, leave the wing off it, and (I hope this is a given anyway) don't catch AIDS either. :P

What do you mean by overkill? Too hard? I may just try it to prove you wrong :) Or prove you rite whichever.. I want to try it with less than 600 HP cause I've seen a BMW F1 race car do it with about 600 so it'd be fun to beat that, Hmmm least amount of HP to do Le Sarthe 💡

Sorry DE I'm kinda new still so yeah, I shall just edit them in future..
I've tried a fully stock Speed 12 it kills the Le Mans cars down the straights but I'm not used to the handling of it but it has no brakes!! I have to break a goo 50-100m before I normally do its weird! But because of the monsterous HP its not that much of a challenge really, I like to be able to go through consecutive (spelling?) corners to gain speed on oponents & over take like that not fly past them on the straight :yuck:
The Speed 12 is a beast though, I may try that at a later date.. Its just not really a challenge..

I might try the GT40 but I fear that it isn't going to be that hard.
Oooh does anyone know the amount of HP you can get from a RX7/FC?
That would be an achievement, Obviously the engine would need to be heavily modded but still. If I could get it to about 600ish Hp (maybe less if it handles amazingly) It might be a fun challenge..

I am really tempted to try a 4wd but the only one that could stand a chance is the Escudo & thats too powerfull.. No rally car seems fast enough..

Right, here is a challange, since you usally win by about 3 laps, wait on the starting grid for 1-and-a-half laps. Then floor it and drive like you never have in your life, does that sound like a good challange!

I would've never even bothered thinking about that, I was thinking more about just getting a worse car.
I may try that idea, :]
Or I could use an LMP1 car stock & wait for about 5-10 laps :nervous: Then go after them, that'd be a mountain to climb!!

Good grief mate, If you pulled that one of you would be a better driver than Micheal Schumacher!

You think a stock LMP1 with a 10 lap deficit is a good enough challenge then?
It does sound like it might be hard..

Depends what car..
The Nissan Fairlady Z Concept was only about a min & a bit.
With Stock LMP1's a few laps like 3
With Tuned LMP1's about 8 I think.. (that was the first time I tried Le Sarthe

They are just rough guesses I cant remember that well as I havent played on GT4 for about a month (stupid CD!!)

Just checking into it...

You need to beat a 3'38 average lap for chicaned La Sarthe and a 3'24 average lap for unchicaned La Sarthe. So try a few runs in road cars and see if you can manage to beat that average - including pit stops.

Edit: It's at least possible in some Arcade Mode supercars...

Right DC9990, wait 8 laps then try and catch them up. Use your tuned LM, which means you will probably win by 8 seconds, rather than 8 laps, it's gonna be tricky though! :nervous:

Use an FF car?

Stiff Springs for challenge to over come what is now the extremely bumpy bumps?

race with a Truck?

Are you sure about the unchicaned laptime, I'm sure the Sauber rus about 3'15 ish

Now that would be a worthwhile challenge

& What is the fastest FF or Truck.. I doubt any FF could lap Le Sarthe sub 4mins just never enough power. The truck would be a fun try with the huge HP they have.. *scurries off to find the truck with most HP. :sly:

You forgot to read the final line in Famine's last post...the part where it reads:

"...So try a few runs in road cars and see if you can manage to beat that average - including pit stops..."

This is what then leads to the times he's posted! And on a personal note, if Famine comments about a given lap time, you can take his word for it! The man spits out not only 'wisdom' and 'knowledge', but 'facts' as well! :D

I guess I should've paid more attention..

Anyway, I've been looking through some old Muscle cars that might have enough grunt to do a respectfull time on Le Sarthe & up to yet, none are quite fast enough.
As for Trucks, I think thats a no go with the weight I'd need about 800+ to stand a chance & I've only got to about 650..
I dont want to do another Race car so I'm trying to stick to a Road car because the thought of a road car winning Le Mans is rather cool..

The closest I've come is maybe fine tuning a Shelby Cobra as its the only muscle car that doesnt way about the same as a small island! Shame about the rear end flying from behind you everychance it gets, that things vicious :nervous:

I didn't face the Sauber in my attempt, but the laptimes I've given are for the fastest average lap over the whole race for the lead AI car I faced.

I'd put money on the VW W12/Nardo, McLaren Mercedes SLR and Audi Le Mans quattro Concept being able to kick out fast enough race laps - it's just a question of whether they can maintain a reasonable pit schedule to keep the average down.

What about the Ford GT? Any chance on that? Maybe the S7?
And I doubt the SLR would be kind to tires or fuel, completely ignoring it being a handful towards the end.

You want a challenge, bring a Touring or JGTC car to a race against audi R8s and Pescies!:dopey:

Or just do it in a viper.:sly:
