The Viper or 'Vette would definitely be overkill, so would DTM cars like the Astra and the CLK touring car. Might be fun with a Calibra or Mercedes 190 E Evo II though.
I was thinking about this some more and Im not really sure the Viper or Vette could win these races. I used the Viper in the GTWC and while I barely won the championship, I couldnt beat the Toyota GT-One (one of the slowest prototypes) on any of the faster tracks. And I consider myself a pretty good driver, not the greatest, but way better than the AI. But the HP advantage was too great on some of the faster paced tracks.

And Circuit de la Sarthe is certainly a fast track and its not a very complex track for the AI either. I just dont think being able to out-corner the AI will make up for the big HP advantage they will have on Sarthes LONG straights. I looked throught the race reports and the closest comparison I could find was the Mclaren F1 Race car, which is much faster than the Viper and Vette.

I dont have the time to do any testing this week, so Im not completely sure about this. By all means someone please prove me wrong. I would actually be interested in using one of these cars if it is indeed possible.

Oh I agree, my original response was with regards to something someone stated, i thought, about the Nurb 24 Hours. Not sure why, though, given the subject is the Sarthe enduros. Chalk it up to cerebral flatulence if you will.

Firstly, I've gotta say thanks for all the suggestions & so on ^_^

Secondly, I'm currently testing out the challenge that someone came up with about starting so many laps behind. I've decided to let Bob run the Le Sarthe II in a fully tuned & turbo'd R8 to give myself a rough guide & when I pick up the keys to my new Bentley Speed 8 I am going to the Bentley garage buying tires then going to Le Sarthe II again & then waiting at the grid untill the cars have lapped me as many times as Bob lapped them, keep in mind that its going to be a stock Speed 8 trying to go as fast as Bob in a tuned R8.

Also I have been testing out some cars for a possible Le Sarthe I/II run..
Cars I've tested so far are:
 • Shelby Cobra
 • TVR Speed 12
 • Pagani Zonda
 • Suzuki Escudo
 • Opel Calibra
 • Mercedes CLK GTR
 • Lancia Delta
 • Dodge Ram
 • Dodge Charger
 • Chevvy Silverado? (that red concept truck you win)

If you want any times on any of these just ask me & I'll edit this & put them on =]

How do you expect to do anything in the silverado?

That was the whole point of trying it! I want to try ones that wouldnt really have a chance, it would then be a maassive challenge & therefore more exciting for me :]
It didnt do too badly when you think of the pure weight of the thing!

There is a huge problem with doing this in a truck. First of all it does not acclerate fast enough, and it not first enough, Secondly, there is a huge amount of roll in a trucks body, therefore when you coner, it produces understeer. Basiclly, no matter how crummy the A.I's driving is, to beat them would be a bloody miracle!

The acceleration problem isn't much of a deal I've had that with most cars I've done Le Sarthe with, I always try & win with less Hp.. Although with the trucks no matter how light & stiff you can get them they just cant take the corners fast enough, I am still trying to find a fast enough truck though.. As for your final sentance.. Why do you think I want to do it :]

Almost finished my Le Sarthe that I'm doing atm.. Bob's done 13 hours & is 3 laps in front. So it seems my challenge is to win from 6 laps behind in a stock Bentley o.O

Well, I think the best HANDLING trucks would probably be a tie between the little Tacoma or the Chevy SS/R. I'd test that, but my trucks are set up for off-road racing...

Thanks alot for letting me know, I will try them in a few hours along with a few other cars that I have listed as possibilities..
I can see my 20million being wasted on these cars :ouch:

What about the Honda S2000 LM Race Car?

I will try that but I was kinda wanting to do it in a Road car, I might try a S2000 though, they do handle rather nice.

try a modded R34 skyline
and if it's too easy then cut the power
and try adding weight to your cars too

I think a skyline would be a bit brutal on its tires, I've already tried it with 900+Hp & it was still a 200pointer but was too easy, I may retry it with less Hp but not sure, I was waiting for someone to mention a Skyline.. Ever since Fast & the Furious people just obsess them, they are god but sheesh..

I noticed you browsing the Mad FinnTuners thread, how about giving our Spirra or Blackbird a try? And if that isn't enough, wait until we get one real American tarmac ripper out. Probably later this week. 👍

i think skylines are popular for a reason. people race them for a reason and i think that reason is obvious

Dont get me wrong I have always loved skylines its just they are always mentioned by people that dont have a clue, its like "Favourite car?" "Skyline!!" Just because of Fast & Furious, It just annoys me a little but yes they are damn great, (just weigh too damn much)

I was looking through the FinnTuners because I was looking for cars, I will be trying out the Blackbird & maybe the Spirra too.

Why dont you take the integra touring car and give it a shot?

Is the Integra Touring Car still FF? If so its definately getting tried 👍

I agree, im a big fan of skylines, but people just say it to try to look good, and thats not what skylines are about!

I think so.

And you should try the Mazda RX8 LM race car. its not FF, but it has great handling, but your opponents will beat you in speed by a miile! Now thats a challenge!:dopey:

Even more about the Skylines... it's a hell of a shame that one of the best road/racing cars ever will go to history as the dream car of every other 2F2F wannabe.

The old R32 was a ground breaking car, being around 15 years ahead of its competitors when it comes to certain engine and drivetrain technology. I also dare to disagree about the weight, it's a pretty large car with four wheel drive and four wheel steering, not to mention a bulletproof engine block... the V-Spec models of the R32 go to 1245 kg in GT4 and that isn't too much in my opinion when you consider the technology it carries. I would suggest trying out one of those instead of the modern models, just leave the VCD and LSD out and you're set. The preferrable models are the V-Spec '93, V-SpecII '94 or the jewel in the crown, Nismo S-Tune '00. :)

I can tell that you arent just a fanboy Greycap ^_^
Good to know.
Anyway, I see your point about the weight of the Skylines, the old ones dont really way too much but the 34's just need to go on atkins or something.. Where the hell did it gain about 200kg :/ Maybe the designers weren't getting 200 A-spec points so added ballast =]
Anyway yeah, I might try an old R33  They are my fav skylines, I prefer the looks of the R34 but thats what Bodykits are for =]
33's just can be tuned soo much better! Some insane people get 1300bhp out of them :nervous: In real life its like o.O Crazyness!!

Just an hour till I can get some testing done, I'll post my best times & some averages (including pit stops).
Up to now I think I'm trying the 2 Trucks that Jim Prower mentioned.
An Integra Touring Car like Blitz_69 suggested although I dont want to use a race car but its FF so I will try it, Imagine FF care winning Le Mans :sly:.
The Blackbird & Spirra thanks to GreyCap
I'm also gonna try the 3 cars that were suggested by Famine, Probs gonna try them stock..
A GT40 & S7 as suggested by Toronado
Gonna try a Lancia Delta S4 for the 4wd challenge thanks to I-Runner tellling me about the Hp..
Maybe an Rx7 & a R32/33

So yeah I'm gonna be busy, I'll post times of each ones Fastest lap & I'll let you lot choose the one 👍

Edit.

I've tried out a few cars..
I did 2 laps in each on Le Sarthe I (chicaned). 1st to get used to the car & such then a decent lap.
All used the same settings for fairness..
Honda Integra Touring Car = 4'19.6 NO CHANCE
Nissan Skyline R32 '89 = 3'45.3 No Chance
Nissan Skyline R33 '95 = 3:41.1 No Chance
Nissan Skyline R34 '99 = 3'39.2 No Chance
Pagani Zonda C12S '00 = 3'50+ Rear snaps out under braking
VW Nardo W12 '01 = 3'31.5 Possible
Cadillac Cien '02 = 3'29.7 Possible
Mazda Rx7 '02 = 3'40.5 No Chance
Honda NSX-R '02 = 3'36.6 Don't Think So
TVR Speed 12 '00 = 3'35.1 Maybe
Chevrolet Silverado 02 = 3'59.3 NO CHANCE
Audi Nuvalari Quattro '03 = 3'40.3 No Chance
Peugeot 205 Rally Car '86 = 3'49.5 No Chance
I will do more later, I'm shattered! It's 5:30 am..
Goodnight I think

Hehehe... Supercars FTW :D

The Cien is the fastest road car in GT4 as standard. I hadn't considered the NSX-R, but with a smidge more power it's certainly in the running. Try the McLaren Mercedes SLR and the Audi Le Mans quattro concept (now in production as the Audi R8) - when running the Supercar Pick'n'Mix at the UKGTP7, these two were the class of the field (which contained the Speed 12, Ford GT, Zonda 7.3S and Nissan R390 Road Car).

Could you really drive the Cien for twenty-four hours? I certainly couldn't :P

DC9990
Nissan Skyline R33 '95 = 3:41.1 No Chance
This one in particular stands out to me. I'll have to ask a few questions about it, as I run sub-3'30s in a GT-R33 N1 :) albeit on R3/R3 tyres, I think.
What tyres were you using? Did you have a VCD or an LSD fitted?
The car's faster than that ;) and the R34, if you use a V-SpecII Nur rather than the standard GT-R you tested, is faster still. Don't count out the Skylines just yet 👍

I used the same setting for every car..
I used what I would in the 24 hours.
R2's & R1's (hard front, supers back)
& Both VCD & LSD were fitted to all 4WD's.. Bad choice?
As I said I only gave each car 2 laps,
I could probs squeeze out a few more seconds in each with fine tuning & perfecting the track etc but yeah..
Out of them all I was most surprised with the Speed 12 being relatively slow (maybe a poor lap I cant remember) but it seemed faster than anything..
With resonse to the Cien question, It seems rather easy to drive, so Yeah I could race it for 24 hours =]

I'm off to test/buy a few more cars.
I've only speant about 2million up to yet ^_^

Btw, thanks for telling me about the Vspec II Nur its alot faster!!

Oh & Famine I cant really be arsed to buy the SLR it just handles like a truck if I remember rite.. & I gotta win the Le Mans Quattro again I must have sold it :/

I've got a mega challange. Do the race in a non-tuned Subaru 360, which is the fastest car ever to be included in Gran Turismo, NOT!

P.S: It is the slowest car ever to be included in Gran Turismo! CORRECT, YOU WIN A MILLON POUNDS!

Still Incorrect you do not win 1 million pounds..
The 360 isn't the slowest car ever on a GT game..
Theres a Merc with like 1Hp from 1886 that is alot slower!
The Merc makes the 360 look like a le mans car

Take the VCD and LSD off the Skylines, because the ATTESA-ETS system controls the torque distribution far better than the aftermarket products ever could, and you'll love them even more ;)

I meant more about the characteristics of the Cien engine - if I was going to use a car for the 24-hour race, I'd like it's soundtrack to keep me amused :P

BLITZ_69
I dont know if it has been said, but Im gunna mention the Ford GT.
If you read the thread, you might find out...?

DE

I just used the Skyline Vspec II Nur & it was stonkingly fast!! 3'33.3 with R2/R1
Also the Ciens dull engine sound would be a bore BUT thats what I have my laptop for ^_^ Mooooseeeek!!

& the GT was mentioned, I've tried it & all I'll say is I aint driving it for 24 mins let alone 24 hours

Here's one, drift Le Sarthe...

Umm Go really fast with low downforce so you break a lot of traction after every bump, lol
