All the cars mainly, though the sound of the Sim Raceway Evo is off, way off.

Agreed, the Evo isn't great. In fact, when I looked up GT6, the GT6 Evo X actually sounds kind of OK. Congratulations.

Even though the sim is almost done the sound is no where near fine.

I'd hardly describe it as almost done, when it's still in pre-alpha. But if you don't think any of the sounds in pCARS are even fine, let alone better than GT6, I'm not going to be able to convince you otherwise.

The P1, Zonda, all of the formula cars, the McLaren's and so on.

The McLaren P1? Not in the game yet.
The rest of the stuff you mention are generally used as examples of good cars.

I don't understand how you can think some of these sounds are awful. Perhaps you could link an example of something that you think is particularly good sound, any game?

Even though I agree that GT sounds aren't good, but High end sound system does provide MUCH better output. (but still it won't correct inaccuracy of the samples)

I'm a music lover, still learning music production using FL Studio, and several years ago I have that cheap logitech 2.1 speaker with cheesy plasticy subwoofer, and I thought it was GOOD, I listened to many music and satisfied, until I finally bought a monitor speaker and it suddenly makes my music I've been listening to sounds WAY richer, much better, I could hear and distinguish many instruments inside that one song that I've missed all this time because of that cheap logitech pc speaker.

The thing is, if you listen to any sound using cheap tv speaker or any cheap speaker, you won't hear all the frequencies because of that cheap nature of that speaker, it will miss here and there, for example the bass and the treble, it's the most basic thing anyone will notice, but it's not just the bass and trebles, some frequencies will also sound muted and doesn't vibrate to your ear. That's why you NEED good sound system to really enjoy the sound.

Oh so because no game has achieved realism yet, then they all suck like GT does so we need to shut up.

Sense = none

IRL I can identify Leonard Cohen's voice when played back in heavily compressed MP3 format, on a cellphone's external speaker.

IRL I can identify close to 100% of familiar voices during a cellphone conversation.

In GT6 I couldn't identify a McLaren F1 (road or race version) on a Krell/Nautilus setup, even though I know the engine sound better than the sound of my own heartbeat. The same goes for hundreds of other cars in GT6, including most of the new-to-GT6 premium models.

That is my biggest gripe with sounds in Gran Turismo.

I don't think that's the case, no. It's more that we should be demanding more in general, and that PD still has further to go to "catch up" than many other games (in terms of what's been included in their releases).

What I believe is that PD shouldn't be encouraged to bring their games up to the same standard as other games, but instead to try to surpass it somehow by completely re-evaluating the state of sound generation for racing games overall. They are in the perfect position to do that and, being so far behind, they can skip the current "local minimum" and look for the next one.

Here you go and here a site link as well.

May not be the best looking sim, but buy far the best sounding racing sim at the moment.

Addition:

You can compare iRacing to GT6 as well.

Some are declaring that Assetto Corsa has horriable sound, though I can't tell because I don't have it. The sound in Sim Raceway is far worse than GT6 or 5 I think. Project Cars has a long way to improve the sound model, along with CODE Masters F-1 games.

The P1, Zonda, all of the formula cars, the McLaren's and so on.

Wow, you have got to be kidding me. The pCARS sounds may not be finished but to claim they're worse than GT6 is ridiculous.

If you think the pCARS sound is worse, barring the gearchange which has been fixed since then, you need your ears cleaned out.

AS for the formula cars

Just, no. GT6 sounds far too synthetic and digital.

No I'm not kidding. The sound in Project Cars can be improved greatly. I have yet to hear a solid transmission wine, rubble over, a noticeable pop from a back fire, tire rub, and so on.

They could be improved, yes, but you were specifically asked for examples of games that were worse than GT6.
And I gave them, and I gave a game that has better sound than GT6.

You realize the development budget of Sim Raceway is infinitesimal compared to GT right? And they can still do this working with peanuts:
(Is this a Sim Raceway example of sounds worse than GT5?)

Motor and trans sound ok, but there was no pop from engine breaking and I didn't even hear the tires break lose when the rear stepped out.

He is trolling you guys around, nobody in right mind would say that GT6 sound better than anything.

Which reminds me. Do you guys know what, according to PD, the Bentley Speed 8, the Audi R10, Peugeot 908 and Audi R18 have in common?

The engine. All those cars sound exactly the same in GT6, although they have very different engines in real life.

Even better, I think I'm right in saying that's the perennial Skyline loop that was used on half the racing cars in GT2! :P

Tire noises don't come from the engine. Are there pops from engine braking in GT6? How many cars stock from the garage have an engine sound that good in GT6?

Are you kidding me? Watch one YouTube video of project cars or assetto corsa and tell me they sound worse than GT6. And F1 2013 sounds awesome

In all fairness, the diesel 12's in the R10 and 908 don't sound drastically different and the R18 is closely harmonically related to the diesel 12 so if you could only get one recording of a diesel 6/12 it's not too egregious to use that recording on those three cars. The gasoline TT V8 in the Speed 8 is quite different though.

You're just digging yourself into a hole Zuel. Your argument is flawed
How am I digging myself in a whole buy my argument being flawed? With my sound system and my opion GT 6 sounds better. Engine breaking "Pop" Tire noise, rumble roll over, impacts, some engine noise and transmissions than Project Cars and Assetto Corsa.

Some engine noise? Well that's a good thing I guess. Project cars and assetto corsa are far better as evidenced in the numerous videos posted in this thread

GT does not have any sound characteristics of a car drivetrain. It's is simply rev up and rev down, there's no pops, no backfires, no gearchanges, no transmission sound under deceleration, no feeling of "holy **** this thing has 1100HP"... nothing.

Also every Turbo Spooling and BOV sounds exactly the same.

I really have to get time on doctors reception, maybe I'll take first my ears to checked, if doctor says same as I hear then had to go shrinks reception.

@Zuel, want some group discount?
