This is the most time I've ever spent on this track so I have a couple questions (particularl about this event). What does it mean when my timer goes red after I lose control and all 4 tires go off the track, and what does it mean when I bang into a wall (other than I need more practice!) that the next lap is invalidated?

Thanks!

Yes, any RED counter will make the lap invalid. So basically if all 4 wheels go off track or you smack a wall or mountain good enough it will trigger it red. Last event with the 8C at Deep Forest, you could barely touch the mountain wall and not trigger it....bit odd, but you will notice what you can or cannot get away with.

I thought I'd give this thing a try but I can't even post a clean lap in three nights of trying.:ouch:

I've been spending the last 2 months trying to win the Super Car Festival and just a couple weeks ago won the Grand Valley.

Practice! Practice! Practice!

Thanks!

Of course the plan is to drive slower than usual so as to get a ghost to chase/overtake. Once you have a ghost (not one of the 1st 10 ones which you'll only see for a brief moment) which is closer to your ability you can find where to speed up and attack the track, even throw caution to the wind occasionally as you improve your times.

And you will improve your times, I can just about guarantee it.

I have to say it's not an easy car, but it's definitely not untamable either. It can actually be a lot of fun. The event reminded me of all that's great of GT and how much have I improved my skill (well, compared to where I started not compared to the D1G metaphysical entities). However it also reminded me how much I HATE THE 🤬 GP STRECKE! I honestly wish Hermann Tilke goes to trial for crimes against humanity, stitching that crap to the Nordschleife is like giving the Mona Lisa a fake moustache.

Had like 8 failed attempts at first but when I finally got a clean lap I clocked a 9'03.xxx. Maybe if the event is still going on next week I could drop it under 9 without much effort.

Red means that you have made an illegal excursion off the track and the current lap is invalidated.

If you do that too close to the end of the lap (or before the start of your first lap), you'll get a message about the next lap being invalidated, which means exactly what it says: not only is your current lap thrown out, but your next one is as well (because you might have done something that would let you carry more speed into the next lap, giving you a better time).

Managed a 8:49:306 on my first clean lap think I can push in to the sub 8:40s if I really attack the technical twisty sections as was taking it at a more sedated pace after many a invalidated lap from getting a wheel on the grass and it tank slapping on me highly frustrating but immense pleasure when you get it right

this is hardcore to finished without penilizacion
i made only poor counted lap 9.37 ,but im faster about 12 sec in half a circuit but im still pushing too hard and go out track
this is good event:idea:
why isnt it longer than one week :grumpy:?

I'm not sure why the griping about the car, I found it easy to drive and easy to underrate it's speed into most turns. I'm probably a reasonably better than average driver but certainly don't drive on the edge unless I need to and after a couple goes I dialled in a 9.07 which wasn't a lap that was that difficult to achieve. I could have saved another 4 or 5 secs in slight wiggles and near off-track excursions, and a concerted effort over many laps would probably crack the 9 minute mark for me. A top 10,000 finish (9487) which I am happy with will do me for this one.

Many laps around this place in events like the Lambo seasonal and other similar ones are essential to do well here.

Very easy car to drive. Very controllable, got tons of grip and it's virtually impossible to slide it. I'm not an exceptional driver so I don't really get what's the fuss all about.

8:51 after just one lap,

I've never driven the nurb really still guess wat corners I'm coming up to. I found trying to not let it slide helps my time is 8.37.xxx i find it hard get clean lap in fustrating. I know i can go into the 35s but 29s youse are just aliens xD

Yeah, but what if I didn't MEAN to go careening off the track and bounce off the guard rail like a racket ball?:-)

In all the time I've had the game this is the most time I've spent on it this week.

I also wish the event was longer than a week but I'm gonna keep on tryin' till they take it down.

Cheers!

After so many invalid laps I finally posted a 8:54:1xx and I'm happy with that, although I'm sure I can go faster than that.

My first completed lap was an 8:51.xx. I tried again last night and was on to finish in the 8:40's when I braked too late at the 2nd to last turn. Much cursing ensued.

First clean lap was a 8:43.685, but made a couple of mistakes and was downright slow in some places.

Was 4.8 seconds up on that time but carried too much speed into that final high speed section after the straight. :( :ouch: :irked:

Also peeved that BB can't be adjusted, I'm a devoted no-ABS user, but running a whole lap with only a millimeter or two of brake travel is not pleasent. No idea how the top guy managed it. I suppose he must be a left foot braker and settling the car with the throttle while braking. :ill:

As we have seen today at the real Nordschleife the GTR did a 8:27.xxx so there should be some more possible on that TT.

My best lap so far is 9.00.83 using DS3.... And I believe that I could go 2 or 3 sec. faster, if I could be more consistent on a lap and not be scared of pushing the car to its limit. It actually also helped going up on the ABS from 1 to 3.

And also breaking early and coasting through corners helped me improving my time. + avoiding the corners where the roads gets bumpy on the outside. Best advice is to break early on these corners and drive close to the inside apex.

Awesome challenge this one. Love the track and the fact that the setup of the car is fixed.

Did this in 2 runs with a DS3, with a time of 9:11.xxx (First run was invalid when I smacked the pit wall entering the old Nurb.)
ABS was set to 3.

Notes:
~The GP section was easy, was able to get my braking points dialed in there before the hard stuff.
~Up until Bergwerk, I didn't have any issues whatsoever - I did have to brake harder because of the narrowness of the course compared to the GP section.
~The Karrussel is when it became a nightmare - up until the Sprunghugel, I nearly went off three times - kept missing my trail-brake points by a large margin.
~Was fine after that. Will not try for a better time, I'm just not that good of a driver to work on it.

I'm a bad driver and I don't know the nur
Combining this with the fact that this car is so twitchy, it was pretty hellish

I tried it with all aids off and though left-foot braking was good to get the tail around corners, it was just too hard to control and in the end I had to resort to both TC 5 AND ABS 3 (I usually have it at 1)

It's just frustrating that sometimes you're ok with braking with one wheel on a curb, while other times you end up spinning out like crazy. This car is painfully unpredictable

In the end I got a score of 9:08. Not going to try this again. This car was not fun to drive at all. At least I got a GTR out of it

EDIT: Drove the prize car around the track. No idea how well it handles because frankly, I got used to driving that twitchy car. =\

Avoid the kerbs. Because it's a race car the car is too low and stiff to cope with the high kerbs of the Nürburgring and the car just gets pitched around all over the place. If you keep it off the kerbs the car is suddenly a lot nicer. 👍

So relieved to get a 9:14.929 on the first lap I managed to complete without being disqualified at any point! :D

Just got myself a 8:38:897 still more time to get in the gp section and think I can gain a few seconds from carousel to the straight if I clean up my driving and smooth it out was riding the kerbs bit to much

Did any of you guys noticed the best lap time on the leaderboard??!!
An Italian called lalorie87 did a 0":00'.250!! Saved the replay and it showed him stranded on the start finish line! !

WHATS GOING ON!!

Wow. I guess nothing surprises me anymore nowadays.

I dont get them sometimes! If he is that smart to find a well hidden bug in the game he should be smart enaugh to genuinely drive the car and post a respectable laptime

Go figure. Now thats a damn shame that people have to resort to such foolishness (if indeed it is intentional and not an accidental glitch) just to get to the top of the leaderboard. I rest my case. (In regards to my post in the other TT thread)

It may be a glitch I loaded up the tt yesterday went to change to bonnet cam and was shocked to find I was in a mclaren gt1 race car instead of the gtr reset the game and was back in a gtr
