Yeah, getting honored because your PSN ID gets listed in a ranking list on gran-turismo.com  No, of course there's not. It's weird how people get upset about their time spent not paying off if others cheat for better rankings... they get the same in-game rewards as every other player who achieves a 'gold' time, and in two weeks, pretty much nobody will care about those ranks anyway.

That's ultimately what I was getting at. I understand being a bit miffed because your ranking means nothing. But you really weren't getting anything anyhow. I don't know, I can't achieve a gold lap, or I'm just not willing to put the time in right now. Maybe if I invested an awful lot of time I would be really aggravated. This is how I try to save what's left of my sanity.

I get both view points, but in the end those drivers ranking in at the top of these lists are just constantly practising and getting even better at what they are already great at, so it probably makes them less angry to keep away from trying seriously hard on such trials in first place.

Edit, how Jonny said it, pretty much.

Like I said, its more about the pricipal of the whole thing. Think about it. If you put in hours upon hours into an event and mamaged to get P1, then along comes a bunch of cheaters to push you back 20 or so spots, how would you feel? Thats all I saying here. Its about the accomplishment and having the top spot, or even a top 10. And its just plain annoying when someone have to cheat anyway.

EDIT: Here, I will give you an example that fits me and why I may get pissed. When I used to run these TT's, I normally finished around the 100-150 mark. Now, since the leaderboard only goes up to 254 I think it is, if enough people came in and cheated, they are going to push my ass right off the leaderboard and there goes my accomplishment. Are you starting to see now why some people get pissed? Like I said, its not about some stupid ass prize car. Thats where I'm coming from on this.

There is still no excuse for the glitching. Why bother? It's not like someone sees a .33xx and thinks its a legitimate time.

Oh, I'm with you on that comepletely. I have no idea why they feel the need to do it unless they are just that starved for attention. To me, it just makes them look like idiots.

I completely understand why you would get mad about it. What I can't understand is why PD doesn't just wipe the outrageous times. I don't see the need to cancel the whole thing. Just eliminate the stupid times.

Sometimes they do just wipe the times. It all just depends on if they can fix the reason why they were able to cheat in the first place. I've seen it go both ways. Sometimes they are able to take away the cheaters times and other times they shut down the whole event.

Breathed an exasperated sigh of disappointment when I saw that .033 record

Not like I would ever come anywhere close to a legit record either. But still. Just seeing it there makes me feel like GT5's glory days are over

on topic, first clean lap got me an 8:50 so this one isnt tough at all. My top friends is an 8:42 maybe Ill chase him tomorrow

Fun event

Man, Now I can't use someone's legit ghost replay to beat this :/

Yep, thats just another way that the cheaters ruin these events for some. Also, what about all those people that haven't had a chance to do this yet or are still trying to gold it to get the prize car, then PD decides to shut it down because of the cheating. So see, there are many different reasons why people get pissed at the cheaters. Its a no win situation for both the legit players and the cheaters. The cheaters may think they are winning, but in actuallity all they are doing is making themselves look like complete idiots. Like I said, I never really understood the need to cheat unless it just a shout out for attention, "Hey, look at me, I'm number 1":dunce: Yea well, they are #1 alright, just not in a way that they think they are.

The cheaters' records should not only be wiped, but their accounts banned from online play. Simple, effective, and appropriate.

For me the effect cheating has, is I dont trust any times, even the honest ones. How does anyone know if others arnt just cheating a bit? Just like with juicing in baseball, it put all records in doubt not just the juicers ones.

Anything done online will always be susceptible to hackers, cheaters. And once you know that cheating goes on, even "honest people" will look for an edge

So, in a sense you're saying that just because I, or others, can't beat the cheaters or suspect that other times may not be legit, that we will also take to cheating? If that is indeed what you are implying here, then that is just the most ignorant statement I have read in a while. I'm sorry, but no matter how much I may have my doubts, I will never lower myself to those standards. And I think I can safely speak for the other players that I run with. I just can't believe you honestly think that. I will say that there may be a very few weak ones that will cave in, but by and large, honest people are going to stay honest.

You don't make sense, pro athletes in general almost all do juice, most gt5 players do not cheat like that. You're comparing a situation where something is the norm to a situation where there are people here and ther doing it.

Everyone looks for an edge, for something which will help them achieve a faster time in these Time Trials, availing themselves of the ability to change the BB of some cars is one example, and I even heard someone say here once that some drugs they take for a pre existing condition allow them to better control their driving when the heat is on.

But I believe fair racers will only look at those things which are legal and which are available to everyone, the BB business of course being one.

As someone who actually races in these events I find it outrageous that hackers are able to ruin the top spots that many fair drivers have gone to some trouble to achieve, even though it will never directly effect myself as I am somewhat further down the line.

I hope they are found out and banned for life and I wish these obvious ones could be removed as soon as they are posted on the leader board, perhaps through accessing their replays. There must be a quick way to do it.

While it is true that someone could cheat and wait around to get a plausible time (8:26/7) a quick check of their ghost replay shows whether they've actually done a lap or not.

Exactly, which beggars the question why someone at GT5 headquarters hasn't appointed a 'decheater' to do exactly that.

We can only presume that they are too busy making GT6 even better

Each Gran Tourismo, in my opinion, was better than it's predecessor, probably in every aspect, but I have serious reservations about GT6 after viewing some of the PS4 pre launch.
Nothing I can put my finger on, just a overall feeling from what I recall of it.

But I sincerely hope I am mistaken.

History has proven otherwise about "honest people" cheating. This is not meant as an insult to anyone here, I apologize if I have offended anyone.

How did 38 of them do it in less than a min... Wallbreach? Cheat? wtf?

EDIT: Come on, why 80% of my post get the capions deleted and i have to insert them again with Edit?

Great, lame-ass cheaters filling the top of the leaderboards. 👎

As for myself, I'll be lucky to even get a time in the first place, considering the Nazi penalties are in place and the track is, well, kinda long. Probably will grab bronze at best. :dopey:

There are drivers who subscribe to this site and also record video of their fast times in GT5 seasonals. If you don't believe me check YouTube for Gran Turismo 5 videos. Most of the top guys record their laps. See for yourself. I respect those guys and ignore the cheaters. Whether the cheaters post those times out of protest(not going into the why's on that) or jealousy is irrelevant. This type of behavior is present in just about every online gaming arena. This doesn't make it acceptable. It also doesn't invalidate all the effort of the best drivers. Back to my original point: simply look up the fast guys on youtube(OR watch/ use ghost replays when available on seasonals). That's your proof.
